Hey guys,
I have two questions. Now that I've got everything running like mtc-keys, start up etc there are only two questions left.
1. If I'm turning on my light of the car the radio is dimming the brightness down. In the night not bad but I like to have my angel eyes turnes on by day, too.
So can this be disabled by software or hardware? There is an extra illumination cable on my unit, maybe if I connect this to power?
2. My steering wheel got a mode button. I would like to change the mapps in this "cyrcle". I dont nee the standard media player or radio. But I would like to have Spotify and PowerAMP there.
Also if im cycling threw the apps, I'm getting to a point where the boot logo shows up and the unit is stucked. Its everytime the same point, looks like an app cant be started. But I dont know which one it should be because all standard media apps are working (radio, dvd, media player, ...)
Thank you guys in advance.
I have the same problem when cycling through apps, I get boot logo looping. Hopefully someone has a fix

Light dimming is done on an MCU level. To my knowledge there is no programmatic way to disable it.
There's a cable you can cut though.
On my unit I have the schematic at the top, and the cable is labelled "Illumination wire", which is orange.
Problem is - there's multiple orange wires.
To narrow down which orange it is, here's what you can do:
Get a voltmeter. Measure voltage coming from the car where one of the orange cables is supposed to go (Plus to orange, minus to ground).
When your headlights are off, it'll be 0V. When you turn on the headlights you'll get 12V. This is the cable to cut.
Thanks for your advice.
My unit got an extra cable, its orange and called illumination but it isnt even installed.
So I thought if I connect this one to a permanent 12V, the illumination should be constant?
Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk
Wait, so the orange cable labelled as "illumination" doesn't go anywhere, but the stereo still dims when turning on headlights?
Do you have a canbus box? It's possible that the lights trigger from car goes to canbus box which then sends the signal to stereo via serial, and illumination cable is there as backup. This was my setup with SWC.
If that's the case, see if there's an orange cable going to canbus box and measure voltage on that. This may be the one you need to cut
As for the 12V
The cable triggers dimming.
So, when 12V is supplied, the screen dims (becomes darker)
If you connect the cable to 12V, the screen will be constantly dark, which, to my understanding, is the opposite of what you want.
In either case, check the canbus box first, see if that solves your issue.
If you want to retain the dimming when the lights are on, but not during the day, you could wire in a photocell relay such as this to your canbus illumination wire. Then just snake the photo sensor up near the windshield.
You could also tap into an existing one, if your car is so equipped, but that would mean modifying the stock vehicle wiring.

Yes, I have got a canbus box. I will look for this in some days. The unit isnt that fast to disassemble from my car.

As for the 12V
The cable triggers dimming.

Correct, it should be bright the whole time.
Funny thing, today when I was entering my car the illumination didnt work anymore. I tried yesterday to set the keylight trigger in the factory menu, but there was no change and so I canceled this step.
Now there is no more illumination. No matter if headlights are on or off ir anything else.
Will check this again later when I'm back at home.

At my device in Factory Settings if you activate "Keylight" Dimming stops. Even at night and day. You may use this with a work arround: Use "Keylight" to deactivate the function. Download PCV app and use dimming function there. It dims the display depending on the time instead of the light key. So in the evening it dims and in day its full illuminated.
I tried it with activating and deactivating the keylight, and nothing changed.
I managed to dim the illumination of the display by time, but if turning on the headlights its gonna be dimming the unit everytime.
It isnt dimmed by the software, its still on full brightness but not that bright.
However now the key illumination is completely off, and I dont know how to fix it.

Inside PCV App. 2nd Option from the bottom (Edit).
I have malaysk rom which has an option in setting to change brightness between dark, light and auto. Auto is the default setting which dims the screen when the car lights are on but changing it to light keeps the screen bright at all times. I like to keep it at "light" to be able to see the screen during the day when I have my lights on. The downside is that the screen seems to bright at night.

WHen I'm driving my car at night the flashing lights, on my Blue Angel are very off putting.
If it possible to disable the Blue (Blue tooth LED) and Green signal LED, but still have Blue tooth and us the phone?
To turn off the Blue LED from coming on with Bluetooth go to:
1. Hkey_Local_Machine/Drivers/Builtin/BWLEDMGR
1a. Change the Index value below it to "0" it is currently set to "1
Soft Reset and the Blue LED will not turn on.
Here is a revised procedure for turning the Green LED off. Cabrio came up with this.
2. To keep the Green LED from flashing or coming on at all go to
Hkey_Local_Machine/Drivers/Builtin/NLEDMGR leave the dll name as NLEDMgr.dll
2a. Change the Index value below it to "0" it is currently set to "1".
This seems to completely shut off the LED and keeps it from getting called up.
Make sure you soft reset after making the reg. change.
Do this at your own risk.
I am working on a proggie that will allow you to turn off the LEDs at will, and also turn them back on.
Stay tuned...
OMG the *flashing* is so annoying.
It can be on or off (I dont care) just wtf does it have to flash?
Agreed in the strongest way. LEDs as OEM have delivered the device are terrible. I don't like to sleep with a police car in my room! LED should be entirely user conifigurable as to what solid or blinking means or if they are used at all. The registry changes above seem to work fine for me. It would be ineresting to know what other values for these registry entries do (if anything)
Any new info on this subject?
The only ones who like it in my house are my cats, and i like me sleep to much to let it continue
Yes if you change the Registery Settings, as described above it all works
One solution:
Use tweaks2k2.Best software having abt 92 safe and reliable registry tweaks. It has the option of turning on/off leds, also increasing the keyboard light time

hey happygoat, hows ur program coming along?
Actually this technique listed (registry hack) only partially works.
I noticed to my rather large annoyance that it started flashing again while I was sleeping. There are other times when its start flashing as well, eg if you disconnect ActiveSync in progress.
This is unbelievable! Removing the LEDs cut my time to connect to the WLAN from turn on in half, from 12 to 6 seconds! Most of it seems to be that it starts connection attempts almost at once. Also the range is improved! Anybody know how this is possible?

Not me. That's not one of my concerns. But I can say that the unit is also a lot more responsive when turned on. It has annoyed me that the first 5-10 seconds I couldn't do much with it. Now it's ready for use at once! This one is the best tweak I have seen so far.

I definately think its coincidence. Anyway its easy to test, just change the registry back and do a timed test.
I wish i could... I can get the GPRS LED light up again, but the BT LED is dead no matter what I do. Anyway, I did at least 20 tests two days ago (before I changed the LED thing yesterday, because of another thread I started here about long connection times), and it was around 12 seconds every time. Now it's around 6 every time, and I haven't made any other changes to the unit.

I believe that you are talking about Notifications. Well, that's a LED that works different. It's easy to turn off but it will go on the next time you have any notification event. BTW, I believe that in Sounds and Notifications in settings you can turn off this LED in some events.
I could give you a little program that I did form my internal use so you can check what I'm talking about (Notification LED going ON in any notification event no matter if it has been turned off by any other external program).

This works in my hx4700, but I don't know if this is what you are asking for.
This is prob a simple fix if you know where to look. When charging how do you stop the screen dimming. This is annoying when in the car and has only started doing it after the latest upgrade to 4.1.1.
Have looked in settings but cannot see anything in the display and battery sections.

you want the screen to stay on the entire time the phone is charging?
if so:
Settings > Developer Options > Stay Awake (Screen will never sleep while charging)
you want that checked.
No, he wants the screen not to dim after x amount of time, which it does even if set to stay awake during charge.

ahh yes, I see what's going on now. There's no direct setting for this (that I know of), but it would be very easy to set up in Tasker.
The screen normally dims 10 seconds (or is it 15 seconds) before it shuts off. So if you normally have it the screen turn off at 1 minute, it'll dim at around 45-50 seconds. However, when the option is checked to never turn off the screen when charging, the time at which the screen dims is still based on that same setting, and still occurs 10-15 seconds when the screen would have turned off (had the stay on setting not been checked).
If you already have tasker, you should be able to set this up in just a few minutes. Set up a profile that becomes active when the USB is plugged in. When that profile is active, it starts a task that sets the screen time to something crazy (like 20 hours). and if the screen time-out is set to 20 hours, then the screen shouldn't dim until 19 hours, 59 minutes, 45-50 seconds. and then set up an exit task so that when the USB cord is unplugged, it sets the display time-out back to what you normally use (1 minute for me, but set it back to whatever you normally want).
Zeinzu is correct in what is happening. Why this has changed in the update is strange.
"Member", I appreciate your reply but for a novice like me it seems a bit in depth. Where can I get this "tasker" and I will have a go.
Thanks for all your help on this.

Tasker is available on the play store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...MsIm5ldC5kaW5nbGlzY2guYW5kcm9pZC50YXNrZXJtIl0.
it can be little confusing at first, but read through the online guides, and I'd also be happy to help you get it set-up (at least with the profile/tasks I mentioned above to get you going with Tasker).
That is not the issue. When the charger is plugged in by default the phone makes a noise very X seconds which can be turned off but the screen dims and brightens as well when the charger is plugged in. This is really annoying!
Apparently the S9+ does not like my USB hub for charging. The hub even has charging only ports. When I plugged the phone into the normal ports I kept getting a pop up ever few seconds about that the computer should do with the phone. The red light would pop on and off while plugged into the usb port. When I connected the phone to a wall charger this dimming stopped.
I was also see the charging message pop on and off which I thought was quite odd. That disappeared when connected to the wall. It would appear that the phone was probing the usb for some kind of connection?
Hi,
I have recently bought an RK3188 Unit (KLD6) and am happily running Malayks ROM on it. However, when I switch on the lights of the car, the unit lowers the brightness of the screen. As I have to use lights during day in some parts of Europe, I would like to manage the brightness of the screen by an app. If it is a bright day and I have to drive with lights switched on, I can barely read the screen anymore. So is there any way to prevent this behavior? I know that I could just remove the lights wire, but I would like to have the LEDs to be switched on or off with the lights.
In case of Mtcd devices such option is in Factory Settings (password to enter it is 126). You can check it in case of your unit. I had the same problem - in my country it is mandatory to use head lights 24h per day so I lost screen visibility during the day.
Thanks for your answer. However, I wasn't able to find any option to turn off the brightness control. Do you remember how it was labeled/called? I found the option to turn on the LEDs permanently and also brightness control for reverse driving, but no option for the brightness with lights switched on.
Thanks in advance.
I found the solution, which obviously was too obvious to be found beforehand by myseld. :/ The normal system settings menu provides a tab 'Display', in which the brightness can be set as 'auto', 'light', and 'Dark', whereas 'Auto' means that the brightness depends on the status of the car lights, 'Light' means bright and 'Dark' means lower brightness.
So I'm a newbie here so sorry if I do something wrong. I just installed my headunit and when I turned it on, I thought the lights could've been a little brighter so I saw the elements setting and messed with it to get a brighter color. After I did that, my button lights no longer work but the rest of my illumination lights in my car work except the headunit. Does anyone know what the problem could be?
Got exactly the same problem. Would be very appreciate if someone could give an advice.
I know on my unit the button lights won't work unless my interior lights are set to the highest setting.

You could go into the factory settings menu and select RGB LED or keylight and see how if that changes anything.

Did you take out the Head Unit?
You may have dislodged the illumination cable on the unit. This happened to me.
I had no illumination, searched forums then found out that I needed to connect ACC to the "orange wire" (Xtrons head unit) then all the lights were illuminated.
Could someone please point me to the notification app that causes the screen to light up when fully charged and how to force the landscape mode when the phone screen goes into AOD mode?
I have a car cradle/charger that is in landscape mode with the phone open like a tablet and it's annoying when the battery is fully charged the screen keeps lighting up. Also, when the screen times out and enters AOD mode, it rotates back to portrait mode when fully opened in landscape mode.
I was able to disable this on my Note 10+ but it seems to be a different process for the Fold3.
Thanks

Wireless fast charging dock.
I also use a wireless car dock and have had to make some changes to use the Fold3 properly.
First I set up developer mode so that I could enable screen on while charging. This way the screen would normally not turn off while in the cradle. Here is how to get developer mode set:
Step 1: Go to Settings > About Phone.
Step 2: Tap Software Info > Build Number.
Step 3: Tap Build Number seven times.
Then enable Keep Screen On when Charging which will keep it out of AOD
Second I set up the Assistant menu from Accessibility Options in Settings.
Step 1: Go to Settings > Accessibility.
Step 2: Tap Interaction and dexterity >turn On Assistant menu
Step 3: Select items that will help while driving.
A floating ever-present icon will now be on your screen (you can change the transparency) and you can tap it to show items to change. I use the Volume item all the time as my car dock hides the volume control. Screen off is good if yo want to override the always on while charging setting for a bit. Screenshot is wonderful and easier than any other way to save what you're looking at.
Also make sure all apps are set for Auto rotating so they are easy to use in the car dock. There is a screen rotation selection in the Assistant in case one pops up that is not set to rotate on it's own.
Hope this helps!

Use Bixby Routines to keep it on landscape when in your car. If you connect the phone Bluetooth with your car stereo, use that as the condition, otherwise whatever else might fit (not sure they separate wireless charging from just charging in general). I'm not quite sure what you mean by the phone keeps lighting up when charged?

It only does that for a second and only if the phone is off, so I'm not sure what the big deal is to have that happen, especially if you aren't even paying attention to it because you're driving? Not once while driving have I ever noticed it happen, and I keep my phone on a wireless charging holder in the car (I use Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Tethering to my stereo on it for music and Google Maps on my Android car stereo) where it generally is on AOD while I'm driving. It sits right next to the stereo screen.

Why do you have it open if you don't use it while driving, as using it would be even brighter than a quick little blip on the screen? Not sure how it is even that bright, either, but in the car mine is closed on the wireless charger holder since I use my stereo screen for Google Maps, music, launcher, etc. (and when parked can use basically any other app like YouTube or Chrome). Do you not have a stereo screen in your car, as I can see how not having one would mean your eyes aren't adjusted to having a screen in the dark car? (My screen auto-adjusts the brightness, I believe.) What are your phone screen settings?
You can turn off the charging sound, but that's all I see about the charging notification in the settings.
ETA: Out of curiosity, I tested charging it to 100% with the screen off, phone open, and me watching it for when it turned 100%. It did nothing but change the number to 100 and the battery icon to full, so I have no idea what your mean by the screen turning on. I was thinking maybe it does the same thing as when you first start charging it with the green circle thing, but it doesn't. Maybe you are using a third-party charging screen that you forgot about? Like from a weather app or something?

So, if it is already on, I don't understand your problem? The phone itself doesn't do anything to alert you when it is fully charged.
I don't always have the fold3 on when I'm driving at night. Sometime I use a navigation app.
The issue as explained in the 1st post is when the fold3 is opened fully and in the wireless charging cradle, and I am driving (particularly at night) and when the phone reaches a fully charged state, a notification shows "fully charged" and the screen lights up for about 5 sec.
I don't know how clearer I can explain that I'm looking to disable this notification as I did with my Note 10+, which did the exact same thing when fully charged and docked.

Mine doesn't light up like that, so I don't know why yours does. Mine can't be open while on the wireless charger, but closed it doesn't turn on and plugged in while open it doesn't turn on when it reaches 100%. Is it turning on your lock screen? If so, I guess change that to just a black screen. If something else, maybe it is a third-party app you brought over from your previous phone.

My charger is similar (with the suction cup and curved arm going down), but I wouldn't want my phone open on the charger as it would block my stereo screen (2-DIN size) which I use for Google Maps and other apps, and I don't use my phone screen while driving (just use it for WiFi tethering so my stereo gets data and for Bluetooth for music, calls, Google Assistant, and notifications read out loud from Bixby). If I'm parked and waiting, I use my phone in my hand for ease.
I don't know about the setting, but it is weird if they took a setting away but left it as each person had it set at that moment.
Just bumping this thread as I'm still looking for a solution..
The notification I am trying to disable is for 'battery full' and 'wireless charging paused' if anyone can help.
Thanks
