[Q] Getting CyanogenMod on LG Nitro - Issues

Hello,
I have just rooted my LG Nitro with the Bin4ry root kit, followed a video tutorial. Can't post links because this is my first post on XDA Developers, unfortunately.
Everything seemed to work as expected.
Then I installed ROM Manager, and have proceeded with install instructions for CyanogenMod specific to my phone (I will post this after the end of my message as a reference since again, no links are possible).
In these instructions I began at "Installing a Custom Recovery Image" because the rooting instructions do not work for my phone (it has ICS installed, hence the need for the Bin4ry root method). I'm following the steps to the letter, and got stuck at "Boot into the ClockworkMod Recovery" - when I try doing this, SuperUser pops up and I grant permission to ROM Manager, and then it reboots - but instead of getting any option to install CyanogenMod, it hangs at the LG logo boot screen, with some command line-ish startup text along the top:
Secure booting Error!
Cause: boot certification verify
Enter the fastboot....
Enter the fastboot....
Long time no see!
-----
It will hang here until I hold down the button for 10 seconds or pull the battery. It will reboot normally afterwards though, thankfully. The phone is still working as-is so I'm not dead in the water, but my goal was to install CyanogenMod... is this still possible?
Thank you in advance.

Installing a Custom Recovery Image
If the LG Nitro HD already has a custom Recovery Image installed, you may skip this section.
Search for ROM Manager in the Market (free or paid) and install the app.
Open the ROM Manager application and select Flash ClockworkMod Recovery.
Click on LG Nitro HD and then give the app root permission if it prompts you.
If it hangs after that and freezes up, just allow the app to Force Close. Then open it back up and repeat steps 2 & 3.
Once the flash was successful, you should see a dialog box that says "Successfully flashed ClockworkMod recovery!".
Press OK.
The ClockworkMod Recovery should now be installed on the LG Nitro HD.
Flashing CyanogenMod
If the LG Nitro HD has been rooted, unlocked, etc. through steps other than the method described above or running a custom ROM other than CyanogenMod and you are having issues flashing or booting CyanogenMod, it is recommended the LG Nitro HD be returned to stock & start over with the full instructions provided above.
Method via Recovery
Download the latest version of CyanogenMod.
Optional: Download the Google Apps for the device.
Place the CyanogenMod update.zip file on the root of the SD card.
Optional: Place the Google Apps .zip on the root of the SD card also.
Boot into the ClockworkMod Recovery.
Once the device boots into the ClockworkMod Recovery, use the side volume buttons to move around, and either the power button or the trackball to select.
Optional: Select backup and restore to create a backup of current installation on the LG Nitro HD.
Select the option to Wipe data/factory reset.
Then select the option to Wipe cache partition.
Select Install zip from sdcard.
Select Choose zip from sdcard.
Select the CyanogenMod update.zip.
Optional: Install the Google Apps by performing steps 7 - 9 again and choosing the Google Apps update.zip.
Once the installation has finished, select +++++Go Back+++++ to get back to the main menu, and select the Reboot system now option. The LG Nitro HD should now boot into CyanogenMod.
Method via ROM Manager
Launch RomManager.
Optional: Choose the first option in the app, Flash ClockworkMod Recovery to update to the latest version.
Select the Download ROM option from the main menu in the ROM Manager.
Select the CyanogenMod option, and then choose the latest version of CyanogenMod from the menu.
Optional: When you select the latest version of CyanogenMod, check the Google Apps option.
Once the ROM is finished downloading, it asks if you would like to Backup Existing ROM and Wipe Data and Cache.
If Superuser prompts for root permissions check to Remember and then Allow.
The LG Nitro HD will now reboot into the recovery, wipe data and cache, and then install CyanogenMod. When it's finished installing it will reboot into CyanogenMod.
LG has a locked boot loader, that is the reason for the security error. To get around that use the following unbricking guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044645.
Since you already have root, just make sure you complete steps 1 - 3, then jump to step 9.

[Q] Please help with rooting my Galaxy Tab 3 with LTE (SM-T215) running Kitkat

Updated the damn thing to kitkat and lost write access to my sd card. Learnt that the only way to fix this problem is by rooting it but all existing information for rooting is for other variants or for those that are still running 4.2.2. Tried all the available methods for T211 and T217 and they seem to be incompatible. I am unable to get into the TWRP recovery to install it after pushing it to my device using ODIN. It gets stuck at "booting recovery". Please help.

i've forgotten how i rooted my sm-t215 kitkat. If i'm not wrong, you only need to install/flash only the CWM recovery into your phone, and once you've successfully install/flash CWM recovery, go into recovery and choose reboot now. there will be an option for you to install superuser. choose that and your phone will be auto rooted.
here is the link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2674649
do it at your own risk, i won't be responsible for anything in case something goes wrong as this only based on my memory.
GOOD LUCK
Can you find any solution for that. I also have SM-T215 and can't root it after update 4.4.2

HTC M8 One stuck on startup screen.

I had problem with my HTC M8 One not being to update Android. It downloaded Android (~1.16GB) and after I tried to install it a Red Triangle with an exclamation mark appeared. After I restarted the phone the same "popup" appears telling me that there is an available System Update. I tried to update my phone several times but the same problems appeared.
Alright I thought, let's be one of the cool guy and flash my phone.
First I unlocked my bootloader following the instructions from htcdev.com. (It says "unlocked")
After that I followed the instructions on this site: wccftech.com/ how-to-update-htc-one-m8-to-android-6-custom-rom/ and now I can't get past the startup-screen. It also has a message in red saying "This build is for development purpose only ..." after following the step "fastboot reboot".
Right now nothing really seems to work and I'm not sure how to be able to proceed.
Any help is highly appreciated!
Best regards,
Tomas

First can you Boot into FASTBOOT mode ( to boot into fastboot mode turn off the phone and turn on holding volume down button)
Second if you boot into fastboot mode can you go into recovery?
FIrst let me explain where I'm at now and what I did. I downloaded a ROM that was, supposedly, made for my carrier (Telcel) and CID (HTC__332) so I downloaded that file, renamed it to 0P6BIMG and moved it to the root folder of the SD card. When I started up the bootloader it started to check for that file and then it said "Checking." for a while and then the text "Press <POWER> to reboot." appeared over the "Checking" text: i64.tinypic.com/ 317d1ep.jpg
Then after restart this appears: i65.tinypic.com/ 1194d5k.jpg
It restarts and the same screen but with the text "Entering Recovery..." appears: i63.tinypic.com/ 33vitn4.jpg
And after that it restarts once again to the screen without the "Entering recovery" and it goes on like this forever until there is no battery. During this step I can't access the bootloader or anything.
Now that my battery drained out and I'm starting it up to the bootloader and the "Recovery" it looks like this:
Bootloader: i67.tinypic.com/ 2lw4y15.jpg
After recovery: i68.tinypic.com/ inhnrs.jpg
It stays under the "Entering Recovery..." screen and nothing happens.
Also did "fastboot erase cache" (under FASTBOOT USB) and then started "RECOVERY" again with no success as you mentioned in this thread: forum.xda-developers.com/ showthread.php?t=2265290
Actually I cannot view the pics from the link as iam not on my computer. I'll check the pics one I reach home
Tell me what your bootloder says on top (locked , unlocked or relocked)
Try deleting the ROM file from your root of SD card ( make sure you have the backup of that file on your PC ) and then check if you boot into fastboot/ recovery.

Your firmware is too low to run current Custom ROM and too low to use latest TWRP version. That's why it stuck.
Go to this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
Read post #1 all the 14 steps
Restore 1.12.600.20 non-rooted backup and install 4.32.600.2 stock recovery (because 1.12.600.20 stock recovery is not available)
then reboot and do OTA to 4.32.600.2 then to 6.17.600.3
I can't personally guide you because I'm away on holiday and be back only on 15/7

Thanks for your help!
Following your step I should install 4.32.600.2 but I get a "Failed" message. Also according to step 11 I should "11. fastboot flash stock recovery that you downloaded - command fastboot flash recovery x.xxx.xx.x_recovery.img" but under that stock recovery (4.32.600.2) I can't find an image file, just a ZIP file.
I'm not really sure what to do but I managed to install TWRP and restore 1.12.600.20 but I'm stuuck now on the stock recovery.
I see that I have "S-ON" and I was wondering if that might cause any problems? (Reading about it on this page: www.addictivetips.com/mobile/ what-is-s-off-how-to-gain-it-on-htc-android-phones-with-unrevoked-forever/ )
Steps from the beginning:
1. Installed twrp 2.8.1.0 (for 1.xx.xxx.x & 2.xx.xxx.x TWRP backup, in this case 1.12.600.20)
C:\adb>fastboot flash recovery C:\Users\Jefecito\Downloads\twrp-2.8.1.0-m8.img
sending 'recovery' (16576 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.746s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 0.987s]
finished. total time: 2.733s
2. Downloaded TWRP backup 1.12.600.20
3. Downloaded Stock Recovery 4.32.600.2
4. Extracted 1.12.600.20_ckpv5.zip (It contains a variety of win and m5 files)
5. Backup "Boot". According to TWRP the Bacukup Folder is: /external_sd/TWRP/BACKUPS/SH46..../2017-07-03--18-21-10 LRX22G release-keys/
6b. (No OS) Verifies that MPT is enabled.
7. I transferred the extracted folder "1.12.600.20" to the SD card. Note: I mounted the SD card as a USB Storage as it didn't allow to transfer big files and then I unmounted it.
8. I made a wipe and selected "Dalvik Cache, "Cache", "Data" and "System" and it completed without any error message.
9. I made a restore (TWRP -> Restore -> Selected the "1.12.600.20" folder) and it was it was 2076 MB big. "Boot", "Data" and "System" was ticked.
10. I rebooted the device and selected "Do not install". It rebooted do the startup screen and I could see the carrier image.
It stopped working there. I restarted the device and a windows saying "Android is updraging..." popped up. After that I had a working Android 4.x version.
11. I installed the "4.32.600.2_recovery" and tried to reinstall the OTA System Update but after the reboot it now stops at the startup screen again. When I turn it off using Power + Volume Up it automatically restars so I'm having problem accessing the Bootloader.
12. After some attempts I managed to access the Bootloader and installed twrp-2.8.1.0-m8.img.
13. I wiped everything as in step 8.
14. I "Restored" backup 1.12.600.20.
15. Now it booted up okay with the old Android version, as expected, and it said "Android is upgrading...".
16. I made a stock recovery to 4.32.600.2_recovery.img. From my understanding OTA will not work without the stock recovery.
17. I restarted the phone and tried an OTA update (4.32.600.2) but after the restart it got stuck under the "Startup Screen". The "Update" icon (the green circle and the red one with an exclamation mark when an error occurrs) never appeared, just directly to the startup screen.
After that I restored it again and decided to give it a break.
Later I will try the RUU file from HTC.

Help with downgrade

Hi all, I have a rooted fire tv with cwm recovery and rbox boot menu, with software ver 51.1.5.3 on it. I have decided I would like to revert the box back to stock. I'm trying to downgrade the box to ver 51.1.4.0 and then follow this guide to unroot. http://www.aftvnews.com/how-to-unroot-a-fire-tv-and-switch-back-to-stock-updates-from-amazon/ , however when I reboot into recovery and attempt to install the zip file, I get an error, unable to open file, I have downloaded software from atvnews and one other site, both give same error. I also tried to use one of the downgrade script tools, however it failed also. Any ideas why I can't get a successful downgrade? thanks.
Update: I'm not sure what went wrong, but now when I try to reboot into recovery via adb reboot , or via selecting launch recovery from the rbox boot menu, it just goes to a screen that says "The system update was unsucessful, your device will reboot in few minutes and should resume normal operation"
Nevermind, solved.

Android 8 update with FlashFire breaks TWRP or TWRP boot-loop

Hi everyone,
I tried to update my rooted Pixel C with Android 8 and TWRP 3.1.0.0 from August build to September build with FlashFire.
All of the following have I done on my Nexus 5x as well and it worked as a charm there.
Therefore i dl'd the corresponding zip-file from google dev page and started the update with FF. It said to me it can update the boot, system, recovery and vendor partition so I unchecked the recovery partition only to keep TWRP. I also told FF it should include SuperSU again to root the new Android.
After the update the device was unrooted, so i tried to start into recovery to install superSU manually. But TWRP was gone and i get everytime the android on the back with the text "no command".
Therefore I tried to flash TWRP with NRT again. But after the flash the device always starts into TWRP and Android isn't starting anymore.
I can use NRT again to flash Android without loosing my data but than TWRP is gone again.
So either the device always starts into TWRP or I have no recovery installed.
Anyone an idea what i can do to flash TWRP again and to fix the boot order or whats broken than?
Regards,
flattervieh
I don't have the C but here's what I would try. First, have your device booting normally with the stock recovery. Then use fastboot to boot into TWRP, not flash it. When it boots into TWRP then flash supersu. From TWRP then boot back into the bootloader and then flash TWRP with fastboot.
Flash the latest (beta?) TWRP. It allows reading the encrypted data folder.
Short notice, i'm still struggling with the problem.
In the meantime I tried the following:
1. I temporarely booted TWRP 3.1.0.0, with this version I was not able to encrypt the data partion (always invalid key) but I was able to see the system partition and I installed SuperSU. After that i restarted into the bootloader and flashed TWRP 3.1.0.0.
This led to the same phenomenon, that my pixel always boots into TWRP and not into Android itself.
2. Same thing as before but with TWRP 3.1.1.1.
With this version I was able to see the size of the data partition, but I was also not able to read or write onto it. (Again invalid code) I installed SuperSU and made a device restart without flashing TWRP 3.1.1.1.
This led to a totally softbricked device with a boot into "no command" screen.
After flashing Android again via fastboot Android starts correctly and I can use the device but root is still not working.
Regards
I'm not sure why twrp isn't sticking. But the android on its back with "no command"is the stock recovery. To get into it simultaneously press and release the power and vol up keys. You might have to try it a few times as the timing can be very finicky. From there you can boot into the system, you don't need to flash the factory image and start all over.
