I apologize for such a noob question. Thinking of buying an Asus zenfone 2. Am I mistaken are they both essentially the same device? If I were to purchase the deluxe can flashing roms on this forums work on it? Or maybe if I were to get the Asus zenfone 2 I know there's like 2 different models? Which model is more supported on development
Thanks

The Zenfone 2 and Zenfone deluxe are the same. The only difference is that the deluxe as more internal memory and the back cover has a new design to it. A user here had no problem flashing a Custom ROM on his deluxe.

Make sure you know if it is the 1.8ghz or 2.3ghz Zenfone... The 1.8 has the older 3560 cpu and the 2.3ghz the 3580.. Likely you won't see the difference but it might cheese you off to have the slower cpu.
Also there is a 550ML and 551ML version, the 550ML has 2gb ram BUT the 551ML has a 2gb ram 16gb rom variant too. Make sure, if you want the 4gb it says that or you might get one of these cheaper versions... Also, the 2.3 gets the speedy charger, the other variants don't (would assume the Deluxe does)...
You'd want either the 551ML 4gb 2.3ghz (will be 64gb rom) or the Deluxe version.

Hey guys I just got down watching a couple of videos from Mobilegeeks on YouTube and I found out that they covered the Snapdragon versions of the ZenFone 2. The New ZenFones seem to be a minor upgrade from the Intel based version. I will sent you guys a link to all the models.
But I have a question to all ZenFone 2 users that have the Intel version: When the Snapdragon versions come out will you be switching from the Intel version or will you stay with the Intel version
Snapdragon version= Development and custom Roms are most likely
Intel version= still development, but very little Roms.
Let me know what you guys think of this

Also I'm sorry Moderators I put this in the question and answer thread. I forgot I wasn't in the general thread. Whoops

It's the Zenfone Selfie. It's got a 13MP front and Rear facing camera, and the processor is a Snapdragon 615. AFAICT, that's the only difference. And they haven't said anything about price or availability.

Personally, I'm sticking with the Intel one because our Intel chip scores higher than the SD 615 in real world performance.
Alcatel iDOL 3 has Snapdrogan 615 and price $249 , which also comes with ? 64 bit Android ?(pre orders got at $199 which like me! much thinner than Asus zenfone 2 , 64 gb
but unfortunately ROM ,MODS are limited
I am assuming because of NEW CPU 615 ,
Yeah I am sticking with the Intel version because it overpowers the Sd 615 and 801 in performance. I will be happy if we at least get a unlocked boot loader and Official Root instead of Preroot. I heard there are more models of the ZenFone 2. One with a 6 inch screen, screens 5inch screen and there called Ze500KL and ZE600KL.

I've been looking for a zenfone 2 on chinese online stores, and I found that most of them sell different versions of the zenfone 2.
take a look at these 2 models, look at the logo on the back.

http://www.tinydeal.com/es/asus-zen...t-quad-core-android-50-4g-phone-p-155974.html
Why it's different? I don't think its a counterfeit or something but on the asus site I just find the model that says "zenfone" on the back, not the other one.
Anyone can tell me what this is?

Chinese version, 1.8ghz processor - 3560 cpu.
Canadian version, 2.3ghz processor - 3580 cpu.
Both are real, 1st one is chinese ,might have WW firmware but might have CN firmware meaning no google.
It's also worth noting that you can change a CN Zenfone to WW.
So as you guys know that asus has come out with many variants of zenfone 2 and i am planning to buy one so i just wanted to know that the rooting method is the same for them i.e for ze551ml with 1.8 GHz Intel Atom Z3560 Quad Core Processor or the ze550ml? Somebody please revert asap as i need to buy a phone urgently! going on for about 10 days now without a phone
Thank you in advance
And sorry if there is a thread on this before but i cant find
Don't know if they're the same but would suggest the 551ML over the other models as that seems to be where most work has been done.
been using method 3 for my 550 ml without issues.

Hi,
I have an opportunity to buy a ZE551ML 16Gb for a very good price. I saw that on the specs, it's a 4GB RAM device, but with the 1.8GHz CPU.
Will every Z00A rom work with it? Would there be any flashing restrictions considering that it does not have a 2.3GHz?
The whole idea is... I can get both ZE550ML and ZE551ML 16Gb at an affordable price and just want to choose the one that will receive the more development. So far, seems to me the Z00A has more custom roms.
Thanks,
Anghi
Yes every 551ml supports custom roms made for z00a..
I am using 551ml 2gb ram version and using Resurrection remix rom..
No worries about the flashing instruction , it is also same.. It will auto detect the cpu. .
And don't get 550ml if you want more roms, development.. They are bit slow in development
Ok great thanks. So go for the ZE551ML 16Gb. At 166€, I think that will be the best power/development/price balance I could ever get...
Ordering tonight!!!!

I thought I would post this link for the stock firmware now so that some developers could maybe check them out to get a head start while we wait for Root access [emoji12] Just select android for os and then you will find the firmware link.

Sweet, but anyone know the difference between the 8996 and 8996 pro CPU roms?
Can either rom be used or do you need a specific device?

Sweet, thanks...
Glad I asked as I REALLY don't wanna kill my SD821...
They should have made the 821 available for both variants

I agree but I think they probably pushed out what they had at the time...
It was a large amount of waiting for this device, around 6 months from showcase to release....
The person I bought my phone off said it was because ASUS had some supply problems back in August/September., though that could've just been to fob me off too....
Though saying that I really had to pick and choose. Over here in Oz the Zenfone 2 was ever really released, not in stores or through the telco's so this awesome phone won't even get a 2 second blurb in any of the media again... So much for local warranty.....
