I use the Waze app a LOT while driving across the country and I notice that some of the images are now always like a shadow on the screen. Is there anyway to fix this?

Unfortunately no, if it is burn in as you describe only replacing the screen will fix this.
Thats crazy how many hours of static pixel would cause this

I wounder if this is covered under warranty. ..half of my screen is dark too in low light situations
Sent from my SM-G920P using XDA Premium HD app
Sorry, not covered by warranty. That falls under abuse. Now if you have TEP or some other insurance coverage you may get relief from that.

Yesterday a teacher of mine took my phone and when I got home the screen started to fizzle. It has a blue-ish tint now and washed out colors.
What can be the problem & how can it be fixed w/o going to sprint?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
Definitely a hardware issue. If you have TEP then it should be free to fix and 35 if not (bill the teacher lol). Take it to a sprint repair center.

What happens when u press the screen? And can u see anything on the screen except those colors?

I got insurance on my phone I just don't want to go to sprint and deal with the Q&A and 3hr wait. Can I make claim with asursion and not be charged since I have insurance ?

The areas where I touch is regular, but the colors are all washed out or have a blue or yellow tint by default. My screen isn't cracked if you were thinking that.

You actually give the phone to the teacher? Wow, much has changed since I've gone to school.
This is why I don't trust people with $500 phones...
Your best bet is to go though Sprint, like others have said.

Are there any bubbles on the screen? I'm trying to figure out if ur teacher dropped the phone and didn't tell u, or if they got any liquid in the phone. Because that sounds like a screen bleeding problem.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Since I'm in a nearly all girls semi-strict high school we could get suspensed or kicked out for not obeying the teachers(men are treated in my school like a black man in the 40s no rights at all) . And I'm thinking the teacher put pressure on the screen when he took it away from my friend, I seen him put it in his pocket with other people phones. When I approached him about it he denied it, which I knew he would do.

ok...yes, the screen has a bleeding problem. it's from the inner part of the screen. he put to much pressure on it. it's like when you press your finger on a computer screen and you get that funny discolorization... thats what happened. can you see the normal stuff on the screen though? or is there to much color on it?
this is a slight hardware problem that is sometimes fixable.

Just noticed on my phone earlier when i unlocked it that i hat a red dot near the bottom. Ran a pixel test i found on the market and it shows up on any background and my brightness setting doesn't affect it. Is there any way i can fix this?

Press hard on the screen where the stuck pixel is so the screen distorts in that area and hold for 10 or so seconds. Thats how ive done it for my lcd monitors and its worked.

That wouldn't work anyways cause the screen it under a hard glass cover. Also its not a true lcd screen its an oled screen

Maybe an app could be developed that uses the device gpu/cpu to mimic the effects of Pixel Tuneup?
I can't link because i'm new, but it's pixeltuneup[dot]com.
Just a thought. If this turns out to be a widespread issue, a simple app might be something people would pay a buck or two for. From what I understand, PT just puts out a calibrated video signal that is good at fixing pixel issues.
Ill have to give that a look and maybe contact the developer. Its not that bad of a problem but i always find myself staring at it lol
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
So does anyone else have a possible idea? I've looked all over Google recently and can't find much about fixing oled screens.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
I supposed you've tried the screen calibrators that flash a whole bunch of colors. Thats would really be my only advice. If it doesn't work out a warranty replacement would be my last resort
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
Yea I've tried a few if those already and left each one run for about an hour. As for a replacement i wouldn't be able to do since i just got this one after my last one broke. Also I've have this phone for a little over one month or so :/

So why can't you get a replacement ? The phone is to be free of defects for a year, even if you already replaced it. Stuck pixels are a manufacturing defect which is covered under the warranty. If you got it in store, go back to the store. If you got it from 611 or online call the 1800 number and tell them.
Ah ok i see what you mean now. My next issue would be to find a stock 2.3.6 Rom

Guys everyone test ur phones do its a dim light or a room... now open a fully black photo or a video.. a lot of smiled screens have these strong spots or lights when ur looking at ur screen in the dark.
Or download an LCD test and perform it in a dim/dark room...
I want to know how many of ur screens are effected because a lot of people are reporting this issue and when they exchange their phones they still get the same problem.
For me its an issue since I payed $600 for it and would expect a flawless screen.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I've noticed two very tiny spots that are darker than others when brightness is down and the only thing on my screen is backlight (such as when a game/youtube is loading) but no bars or anything that has really caused me undue annoyance.
Good luck that is a Samsung trademark. Dealt with it with the S2 now the S3. For everything else the phone does I don't even worry about it. But I also go my phone from Tmobile free so I am not too worried as long as it works
So should I get it replaced I bought it for 600 from a tmobile store just a few says ago.. or is it likely I will get the same thing again.. (those black spots/lines)

Just keep it and enjoy it. Most if not all have this problem.
Most super amloed screens have this problem. I knoticed it too when I first got my phone but I learned to accept it because it really isn't visible unless you do what you mentioned above.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Ok I understand but mine doesn't have a little. It has 2 big lines down the screen and a bunch of stains all around... is this considered too much of a flaw with amoled?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Do you see it during normal use or just when you put it in those conditions? Because, I'm sure 90% of the phones will have it with those conditions. If you only have it under those conditions, then ignore it, because, as I said, 90% of S3 owners (AMOLED owners) will have it. If you see it during normal use, then replace the phone.
Hello, I have been having the same issue with my screen on my Galaxy SIII since I bought my first one last february, what is causing it and what is it?
Pictures below, it has just started to develop on this my 4th SIII that of which was a BNIB not one of those replacement ones which my last two replacements were.
Photos below..
The circles start out hardly visible and progress getting darker eventually I have a row of up to 5.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
maybe I'm blind but I don't see any thing there... and the s3 didn't come out last year until summer of '12....
Ok well then its worse because ive gone through 4-5 SIII since july
Look in the area circled in the original photo since the edited one became smaller

I don't see much either maybe something yellowish to green idk
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I don't see anything I wouldn't expect to see.
Edit: I see them now. It's like one of those pictures you have to stare at to see the image.
I see them, and yeah that would be pretty annoying. Are you using a particular background, or playing a certain game for an extended amount of time that could be causing those to "burn" into the display? Anything along that line of thought?
Is that only noticeable on light background colors or does it get darker with a darker background color?
------------------------------------
If it was easy you'd of hired the guy at Home Depot to to it.
It's definitely a game or something causing this. Or background as the above user mentioned. Only issue that's common throughout all of the s3 devices are the ink blots. That circling is really strange. I'm putting my money on it being caused by some sort of burn in from the same image being displayed for too long.

I don't see anything, even if there were something minor you returned 4 galaxy siii because of that?
I once heard a story about a boy after returning five phones for the same issue that was so minor, his mother took him to a psychologist about his perfectionism disorder. (Nothing to do with you, just a funny story)

It only starts getting darker and darker and more noticeable. It starts only being noticeable on white to gray screens then on all screens.
I do not use or have any backgrounds or games which have that design.
Would you pay the same amount for an SIII if you saw defects on the screen?
I pay for the warranty so I will make sure my phone is in prestine condition if ever I decide to sell it.

Anyone had a dead pixel and fixed it? I cant replace my phone for another its not under warranty from where im from.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
You can't fix a dead pixel. There are some apps that claim to revive dead pixel by rapidly flashing RGB colours rapidly on the screen but I've tried them and they never use to work for me. Also, unlike Desktop or laptop display where you could massage the dead pixel the note 2 is fitted with a glass panel making it impossible to do so without causing damage. If you're really content on fixing it you could try removing the glass panel and massaging the dead pixel in the hopes that it works again. But to be honest chances are very slim, I'd rather ignore or just get the whole display panel changed. Lol

On the *#0*# it appears only on the green screen. Is it a stuck pixel? Do u know how they could occur so I can try avoid them

Its most likely a manufacturing defect and there isn't really much you can do to avoid it in the future.

I've got one little dead pixel too. Decided to ignore it, I can't be doing with the hassle of sending it off/replacing the phone.
I'm pretty OCD as well, but have decided to change my attitude towards phones, I can't even see the pixel anyway unless i pay attention to it.
Dead or stuck? If dead you have no other option but to send it to replacement. I ask this because AMOLED dead pixels seems to be relatively rare compared to LCDs.
It only appears in green white grey. Doesnt appear in red blue or black. It makes me depressed the phone is one month old
