Hello , i recently bought the Desire HD, and havent been experiencing any problems with it except of one quite annoying.
When im in a call, either outgoing or incoming, the speaker makes a weird crackling noise.
This happens always, and happens on both the phones speaker, and loud speaker (depending on which is selected during call), and headphones(when connected). Ive searched the forum, and some people have been experiencing a sort of problem, but not on the same device.
any help is very much appreciated thank you
I can verify that I'm experiencing the same with my Desire HD.
We discussed this issue already in the german "Android-Hilfe"-Forum. This buzzing, crackling noise seems to affect a small number of desire HD's. Mine was affected too. All the devices have been changed on warranty with no costs for the customer in germany. No matter from which provider they were bought.
Edit: BTW: Wrong Forum, I think. Could an Admin move this thread please?
Thanks for the quick replies guys, appreciate it
Hi All,
My Desire HD has started doing this today too! Really gutted. What has HTC UK support been like this on it? Replacement or repair, and how quick? I dont want to be without a phone long! Is this a widely recognised problem, apart from this thread I dont see much on it. Im wondering if the buzz comes from a loose LED flash cover vibrating caused by the speaker?
Thanks very much
I have the same and I thought it is the proximity sensor opening and closing.
Are you guys sending it back for replacement or are you going to live with it?
i have the same problem it sounds like the earpice is short circuiting for 1/10 second
i dont know is it a general problem or only limitted to our handsets
and if we update the radio version is it going to disappear or not
any help is appreciated

I sent 2 support cases to HTC at the same time. The one was for tjis issue and the other for something else. The other one was answered next day but for that one, not a word. Does this tell you something?
didnt understand you sir.

I say that: I contacted HTC support in regards to this but haven't received a reply. But, I have received replys for other cases. And this doesn't sound good.
i have the same issue
Issue with noise
I recently replaced my DHD due to a similar issue. I found if my hand palm was making contact at all with the SIM.SD Card cover, ie the antenna I would get an extremely high pitch feedback sound. Also if phone was on charge the crackle sound was audible.
Orange were great and replaced the original handset straight away at no cost but the replacement also appears to have the same issue. For the moment I'm considering contacting HTC direct but i'm not sure as otherwise I love the phone, and truly believe it is the best on the market.
I think the issue might be resolved if i get a outer protective cover so I'm going to try that first, and not use the device while on charge.
Would be good to know if others have had these experiences.

Whatever you decide, contact HTC so that they know and work on the problem. As I said, I contacted them but never received a reply which means that they are aware and have no solution.

That must be a different issue. I hear that noise via BT headset when I don't even touch the phone. I believe it's due to the sound frequency change during a call and the low quality speaker cannot handle. It's like using a high wattage amplifier on a low quality speaker and expect to hear deep bass sound. I guess you all know the result of such sound.
I'm also experiencing this problem. Sent the phone in and got it back but the problem is still there. They changed the motherboard and the loudspeaker but that obviously didn't fix the problem. So now I probably have to send it back again.
i just hope this problem can be fixed with software..
hi all,
in my case occasionally during call's even whit sound volume low a ear the person talking with " extremely high pitch feedback sound".
It's a very good phone but that problem is starting to annoying me.
i allready send a email to htc portugal and their response was to send the equipment to the repair center
in you opion what should i do? send to repair?
Thanks
Have you tried enabling the SRS improvement? It can be done in the music player. It made the crackling sound during calls in my device disappear...

I will try this and post back...
What I'm experiencing, when I'm on hold with my service provider (Vodafone AU) I can hear the normal on hold music then at random intervals just for a half a second or so the music cuts and there's an annoying crackle noise. Sometimes there is no noise for a while then there can all of a sudden there can that crackle noise every few seconds. Like another person has said for me if I change to loudspeaker it still does the crackle noises and turning the volume down doesn't help. I've tried taking my hand off the phone but it still happens. I have noticed a few times the reception bars icon, drop a bar or gain a bar when this noise happens so maybe there's a link?!? By the way I'm running LeeDroid 1.4.1 (wich is based on HTC's 1.72.405.3 ROM). Also I'm running the Jan 17th Radio version: 12.39.60.19U_26.06.04.06_M.
Right. This could well sound daft but try it anyway! Someone on another forum said it worked for him (her?) and it worked for me with a Nokia E71. The speaker was 'crackling' so I did the usual googling. The answer was, for me, to suck really hard on the speaker a couple of times. Basically the diaphragm gets put out of place and the 'sucking' gets it back.
Try it and see! Though it won't fix the 'feedback-type' noises I'd guess but I find most of those are specific to a particular call. Either call back, or get them to call you back, and all is well.

Yesterday I retired an original MyTouch 3G and picked up a T-Mobile SGH-T989. I've placed 3 long phone calls with different people and have a difficult time hearing them. The volume is good, but their voice is slightly muddled? clipped? reverbed? On every call, I can also detect a very faint electrical noise, sounds kind of like coil whine from a power supply. Frankly, compared to the HTC MyTouch (dream), it sounds terrible and find myself asking the other person "what's that" a lot.
I live north of Boston and can only get Edge inside my house. The phone is stock for now, wifi is connected to my router, gps is on, bluetooth is off.
I will go out soon where it is 4G, turn off wifi, and make a call to see if there is any difference. I suspect it will be the same. This may be a deal breaker for me which is a shame, because I love this monster phone so far (except for the lack of a notification LED).
Anyone else make out the electrical noise during calls?
This is not normal! Mine is clear on both ends.
The noise is faint but can be heard through the ear speaker only during calls. Sounds like some kind of EMI. Just tried talking on 4G with no WIFI. No difference.
Hit or miss for me. Some calls to the same number/person are crystal clear, and then the next one is a bit muffled. Overall it's good, but I never had the issue with my Nexus One.
I had this issue on my first device, was getting a low buzzing noise everytime the other person spoke. Went back to store the next day and showed them. They replaced my phone with another and now it is clear on this device. Remove the SIM card and re insert it securely and if you still have it, get it exchanged.
Thanks. I reset the sim card. Still sounds bad. Will exchange it tomorrow. Hope what I am hearing is not typical for this model.
Hm well I reset the sim too, and also pulled the battery for a bit, and the calls that were a bit muffled are now clear. Don't know if that fixed it, or it is just the line.
I exchanged the phone tonight and the replacement also has a faint but annoying buzzing noise that can be heard through the ear speaker during calls. Both phones were made in the last week of September 2011. The stripes and blobs issue is clearly more pronounced in the replacement phone and the rear camera (under identical conditions) appears to be more grainy than the first one.
Does anyone else hear a real faint high pitched buzz during a call? Try talking to someone in a completely silent room.
Might be my ears are sensitive to high pitched electrical noises. Some CRT TV's, PSU's, and LCD displays drive me nuts. I am going to exchange it again.
I am getting this issue too. I only hear the electromagnetic interference when I am not in 4g or wifi calling. I don't hear it when I am on my bluetooth or when I am using the speaker phone. I sent my original phone back last week. When I got it, I turned it on to find out the noise was still there. I called tmobile and I suggested the sim card, so she sent me off to a store to get a new sim card. Well at the store there is 4g so I didn't hear the buzzing. At home and work I have GPRS and Edge respectively, they both have the buzzing noise. So they sent me out a new phone that I just received about an hour ago and I still hear it. Would a new ROM be able to fix something like this or should I just keep sending these phones back until I get one that works?
I just warranty exchanged my GS2 for the same type of audio issues. I also had an echo so every time I spoke into the phone I could hear myself on a delay. Very annoying!
Hey guys, I just got my SGSIII and I am suffering from low speaker volume when making calls. The back speaker works fine but the front speaker is very low when I put it to my ear, even when I enable extra volume. I actually traded somebody for this phone, so I'm worried that they may have messed it up somehow and not told me. It doesn't sound like it's been blown or anything, the sound is clear and crisp however it's just extremely hard to hear the person on the other end.
Have any of you experienced similar issues and is there a potential fix? I just got the phone, so I haven't had a chance to root it and load a custom rom, but is there any chance that may fix the issue?
So I confirmed I had the Wifi connector issue via the squeeze test and repaired the phone myself (I have a bit of experience with this sort of thing, but only as a hobby). The fix went great for the wifi - now reading a perfect signal! (So thanks to everyone in that thread).
Only problem is now my loudspeaker has gone a bit funny - when at about about 50% volume it sounds like the signal being put through is too "loud" for the speaker and is a bit fuzzy (forgive my lack of knowledge of terminology lol).
Currently also running IceCold AOKP ROM and I'm 99.9% sure the issue didn't exist before pulling the phone apart.
Only other thing of note is the issue is only when playing anything through the speaker only (phone calls and music) and does not affect the top speaker or headphones or bluetooth.
Anyone have any idea what I may have broke / disconnected / need to replace as a result of my repair?
I don't know, but my first guess would be that you broke the speaker.

Hi,
I bought a brand new mobile LG G3 D855 since November 2015 and i noticed that when i talk through the earpiece of the phone at an incoming call i hear a light static sound for a second and it's appearing every 3-4 minutes and it's kind of noisy.Sometimes it start's even when i call someone and it's still ringingbefore answering.I think that it's a hardware problem since i changed my sim card to check if it makes the same problem and the problem still remains.I sent it back to the electronic store that i bought the phone and report the noise problem and their ''engineers'' diagnosed it with no any sound problem and they just did a format on the phone for better performance which it's completely useless since the static noise while an incoming call still remains. I am 99% that the earpiece it's faulty but i would like to hear some opinions.
Thanks
