So as the thread says, this is a single question: I've been a Cyanogenmod user for many years, and now that I have an Xperia ZL with locked bootloader, I want to know what options I have for custom roms. I've tried MIUI but haven't found other roms to try.
sorry ignore. wrong post
Also wondering this. Every time I try to flash omni or cm with twrp or philz for locked bootloaders my phone bricks and I need to recover it with xperia tools.
you need unlocked bootloader to install custom roms/kernels.

Locked bootloaders cannot flash ROMs which depend on a different kernel (such as Cyanogenmod). Bad luck for us, bro.

Yes, but which ROMs are there available for us, unfortunate locked bootloader users?

eXistenZ is nice. try looking in the "Xperia ZL Android Development" section. look at the titles of each thread. look for ones that start something like this:
[ROM][LB][UB]
simply put, it means its a rom ([ROM]) for locked bootloaders ([LB]} and unlocked bootloaders ([UB])
those are the ones you can use.
Thanks mate, I'll take a look

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure at this moment only the U.S T-Mobile G3 has an unlocked bootloader. Maybe the bootloader will be unlocked for other versions and ROMs will be developed, but it doesn't look promising at this point.

I was preety sure that the international version has to be unlocked, the G2 was like that I think.
Hello all i just order my G3 and as a nexus user for years i wanna ask some questions just to be sure what will i do after my device came to don't brick it...
So did the G3 (internasional) have locked bootloader??Did it need to unlock it for root and custom recovery??
If its unlocked can towelroot root the device and don't mess with a bunch of bat files and downloads etc etc??
If anyone came from nexus community they sertiny know franco and faux did anyone uses their commits to build a kernel if now who do you think is a great developer for G3
and also this lollipop versions that exist are they official, leaks, soak tests???thanks sorry if those questions are asked before and also excuse me for my english!!!

G3 is easy to root and bump (install TWRP)
Bootloader is locked and Bump gets around the lock.
Root using the correct tool for your model check original dev section
Flash Bump'd twrp using flashify and your golden
The lollipop is official for most devices except carrier specific which i'm unsure about

A lot of your questions can be answered via the FAQ thread. Have a read there. It's what I read through to determine if this was the right phone for me (rootable, custom ROMs, etc):

Bump is the workaround of locked bootloader ? So flashing let's say twrp from official site will brake the unlock?

I've got to agree - I bought mine from Value Basket, advertised as an EU version but the IMIE is for a Singapore carrier and because of that I can't unlock the bootloader, hence I'm stuck with a fantastic phone with good, but not brilliant firmware and no way to flash my favourite CFW's.

Easy there! That's not how things work around here. Also, it's not that developers wouldn't try. People worked on it and may still be working on a solution. Maybe, next time you buy a new phone, make sure you don't spend hundreds of dollars on a device you can't unlock or where it's uncertain whether it'll be unlockable or not. After all, you're a "flashaholic".
Shameful post(op)
Well thank to you sir for contributing and not asking for anything.

I feel your frustration, though (misguided), you need to read a bit about unlocking the bootloader for many of the G4 models.
You are not the only one that feels as you do. You certainly do not need to be rude about your frustration, furthermore blaming people on XDA is wrong. XDA users had nothing to do with locking the bootloader.
BTW you are correct there is a donation thread somewhere. Why not learn how to develop and be the one that could do what no other could:good:
There are enough rant threads already out there, no need to keep this afloat.
PS thanks for being a member of XDA and I look forward to your development
I tired to find way to unlock bootloader for H815P

Well if we all had a power to see in to the future.
I got my lg g4 h815t because there was a chance of the boot loader to be unlocked but now it is apparent it is not going to be....thank for draging me up this path by saying It may still happen......
Do we know if anyone is actually working on it?

Ok I'm looking at trying to get a lg g4 h815 with a cracked screen so I can swap out mother board's to make my h815t to just a h815.

No need to see into the future. You just need to think harder. LG is known for locking down devices. Why bother with the risk of ending up with a locked down device? Besides, I'm not dragging you anywhere. You just like the feeling of being the victim. Get a grip already!

Well see I know that lg lock some device's I have had a few lg device's g3,g4,gflex2 and now just made a MISSILE out of the g4 because sick of being told that there may be a unlocking available for the g4. I all so sick of people saying that the only root for g4 is root injection it would not work for me so now only got my gflex 2. So very soon I will look at the g4 again now knowing what I need to look for.
The way I see it with out boot loader unlocking there is no root for the g4........ok ranting over good night

Well the root works really well, though you have to be using L. Even xposed works with flash fire, so really its not a big deal. If they at least root M I will be even happier.
Of course unlocked bootloader would be ideal but I am happy with root.

Why do you assume I don't know about custom roms? I do know a lot and tried many of them on different devices. Some are great some are buggy.
Truth is LG rom is very stable and with root, exposed, launcher I can get it very close to pure android experience. So root is still very important.
Don't get me wrong, I still want an unlcoked bootloader.
Unlocked bootloader will extend the life of the device.

The f500 device is compatible with the h815 rom.
There is nothing to discuss about. F500 'can't' flash ROMs as it can't have its bootloader unlocked. I've heard that people convert their F500s to H815 but unless you can make it a H811 then there's nothing to talk about, as H811 doesn't require key to unlock the bootloader.(not sure about Nougat, as many things have changed)

Just wait a bit for unofficial unlock to be released any moment now! And then you'll be able to flash at your desire, be it root, mods, ROMs, kernels etc.

Yea the unofficial unlock is on its way. It's already proven to work on h810,h812,ls991,vs986,h815
I still need a f500 user willing to test it so if you want to unlock write me a PM.
Cheers
