I really wonder why no one is asking this question:
How do you change the boot logo/splash screen on any phone?
In case you don't know the splash screen is the one BEFORE the boot animation: the "LG Life's Good, powered by Android" that one.
Any great devs know how to get about this problem? Thanks in advance!
I myself have been asking this question to myself i have looked all throught the file system and cannot find them anywhere i think its deeper in tbe kernal

Ok guys, I've read & search before I made this thread but I seriously need help or suggestions.
I brought a HTC Incredible Droid from a guy for $40. Has Black screen & always says "droid" every minute or so when it's booting up normal. It's AMOLED screen, The screen doesn't flicker or no white lines.
So I'm trying to recover this phone back from the dead. I've tried booting into HBOOT with files i've google & from off this site but no luck as far as I know. The light comes on when it's charging & from normal boot, it vibrates once so it's working normal from what i've read. Need help from the XDA gods to bring it back to life.
Sorry If I post in the wrong section.
Boot into hboot (pull battery, reinsert hold vol down and power at the same time) and see if you are s-on or s-off, and what radio version you are on? It will be at the top of the screen.

Thanks for the reply! it doesn't show anything, it's a blank screen with action going on in the background. I don't know if it's s-on or s-off or what radio it's on, I brought it from someone. How can I check it?
If you cant get into hboot the phone is bricked.
I had a similar problem when I flashed a bad ROM to my droid incredible.
There is a way to get past this seemingly bricked problem but you will need some help of ADB and a lot of patience.

I've heard about ADB but I don't know where to start. I've installed the USB drivers but that's about it.

But did you get it to work?? Im also stuck on this screen. Pulling battery brings it back ok but im not rooted.

ahh ok, had to force stop, clear data disable then re enable superuser app before it would work.
Would you link me to a walkthrough for unlocking/rooting with a Mac? I'm easily finding how to do it with Windows, but I don't have access to a Windows machine.
Thank you.

I'm stuck on a bootloop at the white Google screen. Any ideas? I've tried a battery pull but no dice.
---------- Post added at 12:54 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:37 AM ----------
I think I figured out the problem. I accidentally used r2 of superboot instead of r3. Can I just do the same steps with r3 or will that totally mess it all up while it's stuck in this boot loop?
Got it figured out.
Hey Guys,
I was playing Boom Beach on my commute this morning (which is slowly taking over my life) and my phone just randomly shut off. This has been happening a decent amount when I had multiple apps running after the latest update. This time however, when it got to the "Samsung Galaxy Note II" screen it would try to boot up to the ATT screen, fail and then restart.
I've tried pulling the battery, putting the phone in the freezer and, as a last resort, went into recovery mode and cleared out the cache and the deleted all of the user data....no dice. Now it just gets to the "Samsung Galaxy Note II" screen and either loops or just hangs there.
I am under the assumption that I am screwed here and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how I might fix it. I think my only shot is to flash a new firmware from the recovery menu...does anyone have any tips on how to do that? Just get me on the right track I guess
Thanks a million!

Tried this out, everything went smoothly...still didnt work. I'm thinking that maybe the memory is damaged? Is there anyway to replace that or do I basically have to buy a whole new motherboard for the phone?
Thanks for the help guys, really appreciate it.
Best,
Erik

According to this youtube video youtube.com/watch?v=9XNHEn5cSXg

This seems to have bricked my phone completely. It won't even turn on and can't manage to charge the battery without freezing. Thank you for trying to help me out with this, it was much appreciated! I'm very excited to never buy another Samsung product again and get a phone with this cool thing called build quality. Bye bye cheap plastic, clunky interface and slow performance!

Hello. I have been trying to locate and extract the image file that is used for the boot image for the brief seconds before the boot animation.
This is the image with the custom unlocked padlock , the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 banner, and the powered by android footer.
I've been trying to extract my param.bin in order to get the logo.jpg however if had failure I have found posting of others logo.jpgs but they do not have the unlocked padlock. Here is the image I have found if anyone could help me if the full resolution image that I am looking that would be awesome.

you are asking for trouble champ. that splash screen isnt the bootloaders splash. that is secondary program loader. if anything gets ****ed up there the phone is gone . you would lose download and recovery . it would truly be a brick

Well what I'm doing is making a normal boot animation but I want seamless fade from that unlocked padlock image. I'm not looking to change the splash but I am looking for the full 1440x2560 image that the phone already uses, that way I won't have issues with the placements shifting in between frames.

It's not an image file . Rather it's not an image file in the way the bl and recovery are . It's not part of the ROM at all it would be there with no os installed it is an embedded partition known as the secondary program loader . But cryptic warning aside I have no idea ......I dont even see it on the device tree which implies it is on a chip that doesn't require kernel support to operate . Good luck man . You are looking a chip that must have voltage regulator of its own i.e transistor or fuse

BTW I think the idea is epic. I just think u would need Samsung to hop on board to make it happen . If it's even possible . Android isn't live boot . Those screens represent various stages of the load process dub "bootstrap". Though I fail to see how grafix are essential to the load .....I mean technically if u had no screen at all it should load. But there may be a noticeable delay as it switches fro secondary program to bl to rom

I ended up with a copy of the padlock. The custom and the padlock are veriZon only images. I was able to extract the logo. And it is a change able image. It's alot of work to inject a replacement but I wasn't trying to. I was able to finish the boot animation I'll have it posted soon.
