Is it enough that you root you device?
TWRP is recommended I guess to backup your stock rom before changing with Layer manager.
Downloaded an app called Layers Showcase, and all the themes I find in there say:
Android Version
This Layer does not support the Android Version you
are currently running. Installing this layer can cause
Bootloops or Force Closes
Running:
Android Version
Android 6.0
Android Security patch level:
November 1, 2015
I would love to use Layers, and some darker theme!
I tried one and it changed the icons on the lock screen and my finger print sensor went nuts. It said it was not there then it would not work. Uninstalled the layers and wiped my caches all has been well.

You need Busybox installed, too.
Definitely create a backup in TWRP first. Bootloops aren't uncommon when experimenting with layers.
You guys get any batteri drain or lagging from the UI with Layers?

no battery drain or lag when using layers.
side note, if you are going to experiment with layers, please do yourself a favor and join BitSyko on G+ and read. When using Layers on any device running 6.0 use only the layers designed to work on 6.0
I use it mainly for the better looking soft keys.

i installed layers and soundcloud and textra immediately stopped working. clearing cache, data, and even reinstalling won't work. looks like i'll have to reflash the stock rom to get them back.
I had a real issue with layers. Tried a few themes until on completely ****ed my phone.
Stuck in a bootloop, wouldn't boot even after a wipe and fresh install of the ROM.
Restored from a backup and it booted but got nothing but force closes and was unusable.
Ended up having to flash a stock firmware and start again. This time I've avoided layer themes! lol

So I've ODIN to the latest stock 4.4.2 and also tried a custom 4.4.2 ROM (ironman) and both have the same issue. The DPI cannot be enlarged without killing the system UI. Any ideas? I've never had this issue on any of my phones before.
I've tried editing the build.prop, tried ROM Manager and also tried some random 3rd party app.
Stock DPI is 320. I've tried 360, 480 and others. Each time, I get system UI force closes either right away or after I try to open stock settings.
Along with other misc. weirdness.
Anyone else having this issue or not?

I had a similar issue on my 12.2 Tab Pro. I rooted and changed dpi in build prop and thought I had bricked it since display would show nothing. Had to reflash the rom with Odin to fix it. Maybe kitkat or Samsung does not like that.

Yes, it works fine in CM 12.1 at least.
But I'd rather be running KitKat.
Weird as heck. My Note 3 and Note 4 and S4 phones running KitKat never had these problems.
Hi.
I have this phone since months but I could not figure out which rom to install. I don't want to lose the Sony's camera so RR and CM is not an option. (Tried to flash it from cross-dev thread topics but just killed the rom)
The other problem is that from the stock roms the latest (D5503 14.6.A.1.236) has a prerooted version wich I still use but after a month it started freezing and rebooting and now doing it almost every hour.
I don't want to use previous builds because the latest has the best battery life.
Any idea?

Personally, I start from scratch, (flashtool ftf), then build, (root, busybox, recovery, mods, Xposed, etc.). I always keep a backup of base rooted rom, then make a backup whenever I do any major system changes successfully.
I'm pretty much satisfied with MX ROM. Few quirks here and there, but nothing major. Battery life is better than on stock, put Z5 camera libs, amplify and MobileRadioFix and it's very good. Probably there will be some new update soon.
Thanks for your answer.
I solved it. I use RR (this is my favourite) and the OpenCamera app seems better than the Sony's Camera app
I prefer kitkat. I can make it run for days on end whithout charging. Lollipop and MM just sucks the juice out of the phone. I don't feel either LP nor MM has that much that make it interesting for me to change to either of them.
Picture: mobile used for three days on battery (and yes, I have taken calls on it)

Developer community works hard, sometimes it becomes so useful and one such case is here now. Pixel Launcher from Android O Beta which has been exclusive to Google devices such as Pixels and Nexus running Android O Beta is now available for almost any Android device running Marshmallow 6.0.1 and above. The best part, it isn't any zip that you need to flash instead, now we have a patched APK which cuts down all the hassle and you can have the newest Pixel Launcher on your device straight away as far as your device runs Marshmallow or above.
Thanks to linuxct, the xda user who ported this app which has been tested with various devices from Samsung, Moto and OnePlus (only those which are running Android Marshmallow or above) and running smoothly without any problems. This launcher adds app shortcuts straight when you touch and hold the app. If you see and error while accessing the Wallpapers section, please confirm that Google Wallpapers app is installed on your phone because without it, the error will popup saying the app is not installed. If you have been using older version of Pixel launcher till now, please uninstall and then install this patched version, your setup of the homescreen icons might not remain the same as it was on the previous version. Here's the file

I think that happened because when I installed I was using wi-fi. When I left home and start using only mobile connection the temperature appeared.
Anyway, the launcher works great, but I'll wait more time for some upgrades, like the options when we hold the apps icons

I'm really considering going back to Android 10.
I'm not sure if the issue is Android 11 related . Root related , or magisk module related.
Occasionally when I try to wake up the phone all I get is a black screen , which requires a restart by holding down the power button.
Another issue I have come across is random freezes when using apps such as Google news and Amazon. When the phone freezes , I attempt to restart the phone. I press the power button, menu comes up I attempt to restart it . Get haptic feedback for the for the button press but nothing happens.
I'm on the latest canary build of magisk and all modules updated.
Has anyone has similar issues on android 11?

Nope haven't had any issues with Android 11 besides the Android 11 new feature media controls not always dismissing after I remove a media app from recents requiring the app to be force closed
I am not rooted and don't have a custom kernel installed.
So probably root related honestly try disabling magisk then reinstalling the stock boot img using adb
Thank you for the reply, I'll definitely give that a try

I had issues like yours as well... Actually tried other roms but ended back on stock 11 with fx kernel. Not sure if it was the update I received to magisk or just the super clean install but this go around those issues so far have not returned.

Thank you, hopefully I have the same luck as you with a fresh install of Android 11. I did a Android 11 image flash without a data wipe. Seems like it was a mistake lol
Update: if anyone has the same issue ,magisk systemless host module seems to be the issue . There is a github ticket open for the issue.

I'm at a loss here. Updated to c61 today, and it's been goofy. I can't install local upgrade (was gonna try to dirty flash), I can't enable RAM boost (not a big deal), and I can't save cropped pics in the gallery app. I'm not sure if it's related, but apps are randomly cloning themselves, too. Does anyone have any ideas?
it kept freezing and i had to factory data reset. i hate this phone now.

Stay on OOS 11, nothing compares, no custom ROM nor ColorOS comes close. Custom ROMs are riddled with bugs, and COS is the same.
Also, flashing custom ROMs might introduce more issues at times. I flashed one and couldn't update properly. Then my phone broke and can't use T-Mobile MSM, it's permanently set to IN.

the c61 itself has a local update in it, with the c61 you don't need the local update.apk and that the RAM boost can't be activated for you (I think you're rooted) with root I couldn't activate RAM boost either.
just as with the c61 the RAM see your pic and mine is displayed in a different place if you have root, just like then (without root) another menu opens if you press the 12 GB Ram woman then extra RAM (this menu is not there with root )
