I have my HD2 flashed with WP7 rom and i very happy with it...
After installing more apps withlive tiles i start to have probs with live tiles not working or updating..
I start digging the web for possible solution and i ended up at this site
http://mobilitydigest.com/the-live-...m_campaign=Feed:+FuzeMobility+(Fuze+Mobility)
This article was a relevation to me...
I learn a lot about the live tiles and that developers with bad apps can be the cose of the this problem...
So the short story :
If you have problem with live tiles then open the registry and check those 2 keys
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\PushClient\Endpoints
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\PushClient\ManagedEndpoints
Probably the Endpoint key has more that 20 entrys and the ManagedEndpoints arround 10 keys..
What i did to solve my live tile prob
1. I did disable the live update in all my apps.
2. I Delete all the keys in the Endpoints keys ans reboot my phone.
3. After that i start all the live till apps and re-enable the live tile ...
After 10 min boom!!!!!!!!! all my live tiles where working again...
I know that a lot of ppl have probs with live tiles so if anyone try this please report back your findings
Thanks again Jim Szymanski from Mobility Digest for this usefull info
Update
Seems that if you delete the key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\PushClient\Endpoints its faster (than deleting one by one all the entrys)
and does the same job.

I was having probs with most of the non MS live tiles sinse i did install and remove a lot of apps...
For example Beezz and tweetmo are 2 apps with probs...
Now after trying this all are OK...
I did some search the net and seems that its a problem with a lot of WP7 users...
colossus
no problems here
i guess its just an issue with ported wp7 on hd2. i have sideloaded a lot of 3rd party live tiles and all seem to behave well, before and after nodo update. but i will keep this thread in mind just in case my start screen screws up later. good find and thanks for sharing.
p/s: my friend is using wp7 on hd2 and his livetiles (even the default contacts) does not update and soemtimes seemed like it crashed
I used this to fix the live tile problem on my Samsung Focus. It worked great.
None of my non-Microsoft live tiles were working at the time.
Which wp7 rom are you using?

Found the Mobility Digest article few weeks ago, and have been regularly using it. Works brilliant and sorts out the problem.
One thing that helps "kick-start" the live tiles (after doing like first post says) is to start the app, and do something with (i.e. if its a chat client, send & recieve a message... If its Send to WP7, send yourself a link, etc)... once this is done, it should be ready to push things again.
What 3rd party apps have live tiles? None of the apps I installed seem to have live tiles (htc youtube, facebook, xda app etc). Standard live tiles like People & Zune work perfect on my HD2.

Here is a big list of WP7 live tile apps
http://wmpoweruser.com/a-long-big-of-windows-phone-7-live-tile-apps/
so in order to fix live tiles i need to make some changes in registry ?
cause i wrote nothing about editing it
and how u disabled all updates in apps ?
sorry for that but im new in whole registry editing stuff

Yes to fix this you need to make some changes to the registry with a registry editor...
To disable the live time from apps you go in every app that has live tile and disable the functionanily from apps settings...

WORKED PERFECTLY ON MY LG OPTIMUS7 =)
Thank you, now my astronomy tile of the day works like its supposed to

Hi m8
You must delete all the entrys in the Endpoints branch....NOT the ManagedEndpoints
Then you must reboot the phone and wait for a while ...
Also there is a version of HTC hub (1.5) that i use and works fine...
If you can install xaps's (sideloading) then i will post it tomorow from my office

thanks again for the instructions. I coudn't tell whether live tiles were working or not. I deleted the entries in the endpoints anyway and rebooted (there were about 15 of them). curious about the htc hub you got though. you think that will work on an LG? the one I side-loaded is v 1.0.
btw, reading the original article carefully, it doesn't matter whether you delete the keys under ManagedEndpoints. The author in fact went so far and deleted both keys Endpoints & ManagedEndpoints and rebooted. they are being recreated by apps with live tiles. But deleting keys under Endpoints alone is sufficient as colossus_r points out.

Unfortunately the patched 1.5 version of htc hub does not work on Samsung Omnia 7
gives error about not being htc device.
Actually, I did notice now that my weather channel live tile is actually alive. Before cleaning it only updated after entering the app. Now it updates the weather icon and temp automatically. Didn't know what I missed

Possible solution for all except DVP
Would love to use this fix on my Dell Venue Pro except there is no registry editor capable of deleting these registry keys. I have a total of 25 endpoint entries, one managed endpoint entry, and as a result one functional live tile. Uninstalling and reinstalling applications has no effect on the problem or the entries.

Here is an app I made to quickly and easily change marketplace settings. Similar apps exist already, but this one has a few features I've not seen in the other ones. This project was more of a way for me to learn about homebrew dev, but it resulted in a useful program so nothing wrong with that
Source
This app is open source. It is hosted on Google Code. If anyone would like to help contribute, PM me and we'll discuss getting you added.
What you can do
Change OEM marketplace - You can choose from any of the 8 OEM stores, or view a combined market with all 8 at the same time.
Change MO marketplace - I'm working on getting as many as possible included. The app will ask kindly to submit if yours is a new one.
Change the maximum file size cap over 3g - Download larger apps and podcasts over 3G without needing a wifi connection
Lock the settings - Prevents your settings from reverting back in a day or two when the marketplace updates itself
Who can run this?
You need a root unlock. So either a full unlock or WP7 Root Tools with this app marked as Trusted.
Changelog
Beta 2.0.3 - 6/7/12 - Going off of the error reports I received from yesterday's release, I added better error handling to hopefully alleviate those problems.
Beta 2.0.2 - 6/6/12 - Added a better error handler. Users are now prompted with the option to submit bug reports, so I may better track down issues.
Beta 2.0.1 - 6/4/12 - Fixed a bug that would cause the app to crash if no MO store was configured on the device. The app also informs you if it's not set to Trusted in WP7 Root Tools.
Beta 2 - 5/31/12 - After spending too much time working on a rewrite, the next beta is ready. I've changed a ton of things under the hood, but the big new feature is viewing all OEM markets at the same time. I've also released the source as of this version, though I am not speaking for it's quality. Some parts are more polished than others.
Beta 1.4 - 5/2/12 - Added a few new mobile operators. Added country flags to MO selection screen. Fixed more crashed.
Beta 1.3 - 5/1/12 - Added a slew of new mobile operators, along with an option to remove it (for contract-free phones, direct from OEM, etc)
Beta 1.2 - 4/29/12 - Fixed crashing bug. Added Telekom MO (thanks contable). Added OEM logos.
Beta 1.1 - 4/28/12 - Removed device spoofing (it can break DRM, thanks for the heads up GoodDayToDie). Added Sprint MO.
Beta 1 - 4/28/12 - Initial release
Thanks to
Heathcliff74 for the wonderful WP7 Root Tools SDK
GoodDayToDie for his homebrew efforts, which I use for file IO
balcsida for providing new icons
It doesn't launch on my Titan...so it will probably need a higher level of unlock than a Dev unlock.
You'll need "root" unlock, meaning either full-unlock or WP7 Root Tools and the app marked as "Trusted".
@ken52787: Very cool! I was actually working on something very much like this. Would you mind sharing your source code? If I can merge what I was working on into what you've already got, that would be great.
One very big concern, though: changing the OEM name in DeviceTargetingInfo (which is what I assume you're doing to make apps like Nokia Drive work) is extremely dangerous. Although I'm not sure exactly what the trigger is (suggestions have been things like leaving it changed for more than 24 hours, or changing it more than 5 times), changing that value can permanently break the Marketplace DRM on your phone. All your Marketplace apps will stop launching, and you won't be able to install more. The only solution we know of is a hard-reset or a restore point; returning the registry value to the original OEM name does not help.

The initial beta is a little rough around the edges, but should be stable. Please report any oddities you notice and provide feedback and suggestions.
What you can do
Change OEM marketplace - Included are Acer, Dell, Fujitsu, HTC, LG, Nokia, Samsung, and ZTE (although only HTC, LG, Nokia, and Samsung have accessible marketplaces)
Change MO marketplace - Included are AT&T, Orange, Sprint, and Verizon (I had a hard time finding other marketplaces. If you are on a carrier other than these, please send me your settings so I can include them, the program will automate this for you with your permission)
Change the maximum file size cap over 3g - Download larger apps and podcasts over 3G without needing a wifi connection
Lock the settings - Prevents your settings from reverting back in a day or two when the marketplace updates itself

What kind of unlock do you have?
curious... why are XAPs being posted in this sub-forum when their is a WP7 Software Development sub-forum?
nice looking app, though. curious as to how you 'locked' the Market.
would love to add that into my version of this app, Market Select.
The Software Development sub-forum always seemsed more focused on general app development rather than tweaks to the OS. Last time I was reading that forum, it seemed like it was mostly stuff using the official APIs, too. Maybe I should start reading it again, though...
You can lock in changes to Marketplace configurations by setting read-only on the XML files.
@OP: Thanks for the quick fix, and you're welcome for the tip! The 1.1 version works well on my phone. Two (related) suggestions, though:
1: The messageboxes the pop up at first run block the UI from loading. If the UI doesn't load within a few seconds (10 or so) the OS will kill the app. You may want to cause them to pop up on a delay or something...
2: There's no option to send your MO (or OEM) files after the initial messagebox prompt. I'd like to send you the T-Mobile US files (not that the TMoUS apps are super-exciting) but the app was killed on me before I could click it! I can go pull them off the filesystem manually, of course...
Thx for this app.
I have sent you the settings for Telekom Germany (T-Mobile DE), would be nice if you could add them...

App works good on my hd7. Although during first run it made a backup. Then asked me if I wanted to sent my carrier setting since you don't have them. I was going to then the app crashed and never gave me the option again. App runs fine other than the first run when it crashed.

You need a full unlock or root access with WP7 Root Tools. Dev unlock is not enough (the phone doesn't like me messing about in the file system)
Also, I just posted an update. No changes other than adding a bunch of new MOs. Thanks to everyone who submitted them! I have some ideas for beta 2, if only I could find some time to work on it I also plan on releasing the source when I get that version out.
Using 1.3 with Samsung Focus... Set the Trust to ON through RootTools as well.
I Get the "an error occured while reading your current store config".
If i click on OK application shows the main screen briefly and then exists. Otherwise shows the following error:::
CreateFile failed for \My Documents\Zune\PimentoCache\Keepers\LKKG_MOStoreConfig.xml! GetLastError: 2
Thanks.
You're sure it's two Ks ("LKKG_MOStoreConfig.xml")? That's a typo, then. It would explain why you're getting an error of File Not Found as well.
Hi
I have been having problems with my live tiles not updating, like the weather live tile and USA today etc. I might have to be blamed for it as I downloaded a lot of apps like news apps and made live tiles of those and looks like there is a limit on the number of live tiles or number of background tasks. So apparently when you download a lot of apps with background tasks, the registry in the phone gets filled up and there wont be any live tile updates unless you hard reset your phone, if I know it correctly. I uninstalled a lo of those unnecessary apps but the registry still stays the same and the live tiles wont still update themselves.
I am now debating, if I should just hard reset my phone or wait for Tango. I am hoping that Tango will fix this issue or at least the software update should clean up my registry and get my live tiles to work correctly.
I would not prefer to reset and go about syncing everything again.
What do you guys think.
I heard that Tango isn't coming to the 900, so a hard reset might do the trick.

I had the problem with the weather channel tile not updating. I backed up the phone then hard reset. Reinstalled weather and waited about 3 hours and the tile didnt update. I emailed their C.S. address about the problem and never heard back.
I restored my phone and continued on as it was, only updating when I tap on it first and back out.
Post deleted.
The main point is to find out if anybody knows if the software update will reset the registry. If it is not going to, then the only way to fix it is the reset.

Not the US Nokia Lumia 900. We're at the mercy of the big three, Microsoft, Nokia, & AT&T. But honestly we know it's AT&T we're waiting on to release it.

Reading comprehension fail =/
I DID HARD RESET
Weather channel app did not update over the course of 3 hours, from 11am to 2pm in Texas. The temp went up 10 degrees but the only time the tile updated was when I opened the app even then AFTER HARD RESET. I gave up on it and restored my backup. Sure as hell wasnt going to toss out all my info for the F'ing weather channel app =/
Weather Channel working fine for me. And got the OP (damn, Board Express), Background Tasks have nothing to do with the pre-Mango, Registry/Endpoints fiasco, that I helped to identify. Endpoint are only used for "push" Live Tiles like Sports Scores and Pro Sports Scores. Background Tasks replaced "pull" Live Tiles, which never involved the registry. Of someone can prove different, I would love to see a screenshot.
I have 8 active Background Tasks that all update fine. I have 23 BR Tasks under the advanced section. Occasionally, one of my BR Tasks will disable when I open or install another app, but that's an easy fix.

Hi guys
Isn't it annoying that you have to go a (long) way just to enable Wifi/Bluetooth/Airplane mode/...
You have to go all the way to the settings app, choose a setting and change it over there.
I think I might have a solution to make things much easier to access.
Image the main menu of WP in your head.
On the left side, you have all your tiles and on the right side, you have your whole list of apps.
What if you had 3 columns?
Middle column: Tiles screen
Right column: App list
Left column: Settings list
In that settings list, you could easly control and adjust the most used settings.
Is this a usefull idea or is it just stupid?
Let me know!

Let me know!

its interesting, i think if there was absolutely no loss of UI speed and fluidity then it would be pretty handy, but it is only a slight hassle to add a tile, which is only slightly slower than your suggestion, so i guess, the real question, if it is possible to start with is,will there be any side effects, esp speed of menus.
WP7 has been really smooth all the time, so that might (normally) don't cause a problem.
If it would cause a problem, WP8 is the answer to that.
The WP8 devices will have improved internals, so it would be weird if WP8 devices woudn't be able to support it.
Another question: has WP7 been hacked to a point where we can adjust the whole OS?
Why not use a app called connectivity shortcuts in the market place

I know that app and it's very usefull.
My idea is that it would be fully integrated in the OS itself (and not some extra tiles).
Via those tiles, you still need get in the settings app (automatically with connectify) to change settings.
With my concept, it would be all available at 1 place.

Technically the OS hasn't been hacked at all!

And custom ROMs?
Or doesn't that count as hacking?
Custom roms exist on some devices, but only as a result of the manufacture screwing up, interop is only available again of the manufacture or mobile network screwed up, so technically, the OS hasn't been hacked as such

Thanks for clearing that up!
Does anybody want to comment on the idea from the first post?
Well, the path traversal hack is pure WP7, nothing but Microsoft code. It's relatively minor as a hack by itself, though, certainly nowhere near to enabling something like this.
I like the suggestion, but it would be a moderately complex undertaking on a custom ROM, and probably impossible on a stock one (for now, at least).
Just received a Lumia 1520, what are the first things that I should do to make the overall experiences better ?

LOL.
1. Obviously upgrade to Windows Mobile 10 using Upgrade Advisor
2. Play around and make a fancy Tile Layout for your start screen
3. Despite the 'app-gap' people cry about, there a lot of apps that re much better and prettier than other OS's like Office, 6Tag, Trakter, Trip Advisor, Enpass, etc.. try them
4. Enjoy the Live Tiles
Have fun and show off the great battery life to all Android and iOS users who need to invest in extra chargers and power banks
So Far I am in the same Boat i just got my Lumia 1520 and now i am finalizing my config will soon be fully operational
Cheers.
I pursached a Lumia 640 LTE 4 months ago. I've not found that much to do, at least comparing to an Android phone.
I think thats really great. As a "flashaholic" I wasted so much time with my previous phones... The experience so far with this, my first Windows phone, is pretty much solid, consistent and clutter free. So if I'd to give you some advice in that topic, it would go as simple as:
1- If you are not on W10M, consider upgrading, and to which branch of upgrades you will join (Insider Preview, Slow Ring, Fast Ring)
2- Uninstall all the bloat that you don't need and are allowed to uninstall.
3- Swipe through the settings and change everything according to your need.
4- Open the store and install all the goodies you need, and upgrade everything else EXCEPT Extras+Info.
5- Interop unlock.
6- Customize heavily your tile screen.
7- Go back to settings and fine tune everything. Privacy settings and extras have a lot to look at.
Then just rest on it for a while and take a drink, as previously adviced =)
After installing Windows 10 Mobile (any version) play with the size of items (the phone rebooys after [ Apply ] )
Go to Settings -> System -> Display ->
Size of text, apps, and items on this display
|...................................................................
then go to Settings -> Personalization -> Start
Show more tiles
( o) On
Also change this to your liking: Settings -> Time & language -> Keyboard -> [ More keyboard settings ]
Keyboard size
[Small ]
[Medium ]
[Large ]
Finally, go Settings -> Ease of Access -> More Options ->
Text scaling
-----------------------------|------
Play with the Settings!
Have fun!
upgrade to 8.1 so you can record in glorious 5.1 sound /jk
yee just drink
