Am not sure what the Google Search Bar on the N5X uses to display a page when a link is clicked after a search, but frequently said mechanism stalls out on me - a slowly moving progress bar, then, nada. Normally I'm out and about and not connected to WIFI, so maybe a T-Mobile issue, except, I can 90% of the time go right to Twitter and even Chrome and all works great. I've never noticed this on any other Android phone... ??

I'm on ATT and having issues with the One X finding my location. The weather app can't find it and on the browser if I go to google.com, the location is unknown. I have the location services set to on, the Google Maps will find me, but if I use the Navigation it doesn't work.
I haven't tried a full factory reset yet, and I did download a GPS app to reset the AGPS, but it doesn't seem to have worked.
Anyone else on ATT getting this issue?
I'm very curious about the GPS on One X, anyone has any information on this?
I know my GPS on Desire HD (maybe just mine), is pretty crappy...
I don't think AGPS is working on my One X, when I'm in the house I can't get Google Nav to work, Maps is fine. But I just tested Nav outside, hit the search and said "Navigate to Starbucks" and it was fine.
On the browser when I load up Google.com, the location on the bottom says "Unknown", I have location services turned on, so I don't know whats causing this. The stock weather app also says Unknown, but Fancy Widgets app shows my location, so some HTC thing maybe.
I have used my HOX with no issues on GPS or locations on AT&T. I have used Navigation for over 2 hours already.
Noodles,
Launch the browser and go to google.com
Scroll to the bottom and does it show your location or does it say Unknown?
Thanks

I did a little searching earlier, but it doesn't seem like anyone has asked this, nor has the answer. On my phone, Google Now will promptly display travel time and offer navigation to Home, but it won't show my Work travel at all. The card NEVER shows up, nor has it ever. I find the feature handy for my Home commute since it gives ETA and traffic patterns, but it won't show the same for Work.
Yes, I have set my work location. I have had Google Now running for awhile. I have asked it to navigate to work, which brings up GPS turn by turn, but it doesn't simply show the card when I open GNow. And yes, I have Google location settings on, and even GPS. Data/WIFI is on, too.
Same problem for me but sometimes it work, maybe is a google now bug
not sure if im understanding you correctly
you said that google now only works work---> home but not home--->work? is that correct?
google now has learned my home/work patterns and promptly shows me the traffic at around 820am (i leave my house around 830 everyday) and it prompts me at about 440pm (i leave work at 5)
Hey Guys,
I've searched and searched and searched (albeit I admit I suck at searching), and cannot find anyone talking about this. Thus here I am. Even the Google Product forms seem to have zero answers for me (and no one answering me there), and thus why I'm here. I also don't know if this is the right place to ask, but here goes anyway:
The new (pretty) Google Maps/Nav works on my S3 on Cyanogen mod: as in, I can search the map, use it and start using navigation ... BUT, if I switch to a different app (desktop screen, check sms, mail, settings, anything that isn't the navigation app) while live navigation is running, it'll reset back to the nav search screen BUT live navigation will keep running in the background (voice + GPS still running) and the map will NOT show any navigation.
To recreate for me the steps are:
1) Load up navigation and navigate somewhere, anywhere.
2) Switch to a different app.
3) Go back into navigation. Instead of being presented with the route (live nagivation) I'm presented with the nav search screen.
If I click the 'back' button, I get a regular ol' map. Searching for any route while the old nav is running will cause the Maps app to crash. The only error message I get if I get it to crash is: "Google Maps has unexpectedly closed."
I have tried re-installing the new Google Maps. I have even tried doing a complete phone wipe, also didn't help.
The only thing that sort of seems to do 'something', is if I clear the Google Maps/Navigation cache, force stop it, and then start again. Then I'll be able to use the quick app switch (pressing home button for a few seconds) to switch in and out, but that's about it .. and that only works for one nav route. After that first one if I try again it'll start crashing again.
Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? Or point me in the right direction?
Thanks!
p.s. I did post in the google product support form, no responses there yet

I can't reproduce the issue you are having (I'm on TW 4.1.2, though), but I have had my own set of issues with it. If you disable wifi and network location (to keep the Nlp wakelocks under control), sometimes when the GPS locks it still shows and old location. Only way to fix is to wipe data.
Since the fix is the same, I'm going with bug in the app. Old version was better in pretty much every way.
Don't forget that recently google made a lot of changes to maps. I'd imagine they know about a lot of the bugs people are having and will probably fix in the near future.
When you try to go back to navigation, do you select it from the notification area?

Yeah, I selected it from the notification area.
IF, and ONLY IF, I clear the Google maps area will navigation still work if I reselect it from the notification area and/or the quick switch thingy. But that niceness only lasts for one route :-/ After that, it's back to always search menu for me.
It all really sucks because for work I do get a lot of texts or calls, which means if I'm using navigation ... yeah ... I basically have to reset navigation every single bloody time I get a notification :-/
I've never used it, but what about Samsung Drive Link? Isn't that supposed to provide an interface for when you're driving? Maybe using it will allow you to switch normally. Thats just a complete guess, like I said, I've never used it.
Only other option, and probably the best one, is to use an older version of maps. I posted one in a similar thread to this in the Themes section.

I took your advice and found the old google map APK. <sigh> I already miss the integration and style of the new one, but heck you are so right: the old one works perfectly! Keeping that.
Thanks for the idea!
Now if we could only get Google to fix the new maps app bugs.
I'm under the impression they are working on it.

I have been having the exact same issue ever since the big Google Maps interface update.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3, stock.
Has anyone with 5.1.1 on the 360 tried the Google Maps application on the watch?
Does it ever get a GPS location? (I know the watch doesn't have GPS built in)
I assumed it would ask the phone for the location if they were near, or use WiFi geo-location if not.. but in all cases the location icon on the watch just spins, and clicking it says "Waiting for location..". It never finds a location and never even manages to find even my country never mind near where I am!
Thanks,
Sam
Mine does the same thing and also doesn't display anything on the map as well. It just sits there waiting for location with a blank map.
Odd. I dont use it since it chews up battery but I tried it today to see if I had the same problem. Opened up and locked <5 seconds. Nav worked great as well.
Hello Guys,
I have a really annoying problem.
When I'm at home Google continuous switch between my real position (Home) and another place in Italy (Pesaro) (I''ve never been to Pesaro).
I have at home My Nest thermostat and Philips HUE and at least 10 times during the evening the light will be switched off because it sense that I'm not at home (Wrongly).
I have tried with High accuracy, low Accuracy and "Only position".
With only position use the GPS and It works but inside buildings is not working.
With High Accuracy is working, but when the phone goes to sleep when in standby, the map will goes wrongly to Pesaro.
With low battery the problem is really presente and it stay very often to the wrong position.
In google History there is no sign of Pesaro (For google Location History i've never been there).
The problem is only present in my home and near the home.
With wifi off and 3g on the problem is more present.
How can I solve that? Any advice?
I tried GPS Fix but is not working.
Simone
It looks like Google Maps has got a wrong default location and this looks to be an issue that has arisen from 2013 when Google stopped users changing their default location. The only test I can think of is to download offline maps for an area round your home and the area around Pesaro and then with "phone", wifi and gps switched off open Maps and see which map opens - It may not work since the phone may well hold its last recorded location for faster location fixing..
From your post I'm assuming that you've checked your home and work locations and roamed around all the location related bits of your Google account ( https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin )

The account is all secure.
I have already downloaded the Offline Home maps from google.
Never tried do download also the Pesaro one.
I try checking about default location.
See this thread (started 12 aug 2015 and still active today!) https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/maps/NfH94fJ6KUU;context-place=forum/maps. The issue appears to be that Google's wifi location database records the MAC address of your router as being in Pesaro. An accurate GPS position overrides the wifi location but "sleeping" causes the wifi location to be restored. Claimed fix method in earlier posts but summarized in this post https://productforums.google.com/d/msg/maps/NfH94fJ6KUU/JtidQZ_WCAAJ
