(Soft)Bricked LG G4 - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

While installing the latest version (6.0) which I downloaded, I also wiped the system partition.
Now when I turn it on it just stays at "LG Life's Good" and it won't leave that state unless I turn it off.
I can't enter bootloader/fastboot mode nor recovery for TWRP.
Is there anything I can do?
Note: when I try to do the combination for recovery mode I get the message if I want to go back to factory settings, TWRP doesn't come up.

you cant do nothing . just wait as a lot of people on the forum because is not possible yet to use the flashtool . for flash kdz 5.0 or 6.0

its the same issue with a lot of people . you can with flashtool . not need twrp . but for the moment need to wait a update for that

You wiped your /system partition = no OS = so the system can not boot. Not a brick.
The TWRP issue is a bit interesting tough, how did you wipe it? you tried the temporary boot to TWRP via fastboot commands? Or flash it via fastboot again?

There is an update for the G4, where fastboot also requires debugging enabled? No other android phone I ever owned required USB debugging enabled for fastboot, not even the S6 (920F)

you understand nothing ... with the new 6.0 update for the moment a lot of people have a bootloop as issue ... impossible to make a hardreset ... impossible to install twrp ... impossible to use the flashtool saw the flashtool software is not updated yet ... you cant flash the 5.1 or 6.0 for the moment ... there are too much people with this issue on the website ... look all the post*
we have not access at fastboot mode or recovery mode if you prefer . when you use this option ... the hard reset its impossible and that restart the phone and bootloop again and again

Ermmm wait. So you say the G4 does not have a hardware button combo to boot into download/fastboot straight away from a power off state? That is kinda fail from LG.

all people with this issue after have flashed the autoprime zip etc etc have this problem . you have access at download mode but flashtool doesnt work for the moment because imposible to downgrade for 5.1 and imposible to use kdz 6.0 ... the factory reset doesnt work . whn you do it . you have again the bootloop isue . and impossible to have access at the recovery mode . we are more 100 people on xda to have this issue
then yes you have the button cmbo . and you go in factory reset . normaly after you can go in recovery mod but that doesnt work

It doesn't.
And also if you do the combination of volume down and power button for recovery mode, TWRP won't come up.

even you can go into fastboot mode (check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/guide-how-to-enter-fastboot-mode-t3239537/post63623844#post63623844) but that won't help unless you have an unlocked bootloader.

LG G4 bootloop.... Need expert help... Ready to pay the price

Hello,
I had been using a H815T, locked bootloader, running Seven HD rom v6.1 for more than 2 months flawlessly. Suddenly yesterday my phone was in charge and it restarted and went into bootloop. Since I tried many things and I went to some local technicians as well as one LG engineer, but all failed to gimme any solution. And I don't have any warrenty, I couldn't ask for a replacement for anyone.
So here's what I tried:
1. Flashing international KDZ
2. Flashing default KDZ
3. Formatting from recovery mode
4. Changing battery
Here's what works:
1. Download mode
2. Recovery mode
So I am ready to pay if anyone gimme a solution out of this. Any help will be appreciated as I am in real trouble coz I cannot afford a new phone now.
With thanks

To me it used to happen sometimes while charging. I had to manually switch off the screen and when i switched on the screen, it became normal for a while. I thought it was due to heavy xposed customizations.

Try this:
copy all zip files you need to reflash (10D or similar) to a memcard
Also download latest twrp and copy it to the directory where you have adb.exe
Open a Command prompt on your PC (where adb is located) and powerup the phone,
open up the Device Manager on your PC to see when the adb device is there,
in the moment where you see the adb device fire up the comand:
adb reboot bootloader
if that works enter the comand:
fastboot boot twrp-2.8.7.0-h815.img
this will boot directly into Twrp without flashing twrp and you can try things from twrp
I hope this will help here, helped me with the phone from a friend of me who had a similar problem.

This is what I would do,
Go to LG developers and create an account to unlock your bootloader, NOTE - when unlocking your bootloader it will erase everything on your device so back up everything that is important before unlocking
Then download Genisys rom 2.8 MM and Genisys bootloader and modem version 20D then download twrp 2.8.7.0
1.transfer the downloaded files onto your phone
2.flash twrp
3.boot into twrp and wipe system/data/dalvik/cache
4.install Genisys rom then let phone reboot
5.reboot back into twrp recovery and flash Genisys bootloader and modem 20D
Done...
Any questions you have just message me back but if you follow my guide step by step you'll be fine and on marshmallow in no time.....
---------- Post added at 12:13 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:06 AM ----------
It is best to download the rom, bootloader, modem and twrp on a pc first and then transferring to device also you will have to make sure that the drivers are fully installed on your pc for your phone, also you will need the adb files to create an adb connection so check some videos on YouTube from XDA and root junky to be fully sure you have all the files....
It sounds quite hard but as long as you have all the files and follow all the instructions you will be able to do it...

It's okay, don't worry fella
The main thing is you've unlocked your bootloader and you can boot into your phone ( things could be a lot worse trust me)
Go into device manager and check if your phone is in there also plug your phone in enable USB debugging install drivers disable USB debugging,
Switch to mtp install drivers then switch to ptp (the other one) and try to connect that way,
Don't give up buddy you've done really good so far, I have to go work soon but as soon as I'm back I'll check XDA for your post and help as soon as I can.....
ok just found out, after double checking the developer options, it seems the debug usb check box was checked off [does it auto check off on shut down?]
is it best to try install this recovery first before that marshmallow kdz file?

It doesn't matter which one is first
Also if you have an sd card then put it in an sd card reader plug in pc and copy the files from pc then insert into phone and if you still can't connect via adb then look for an app on XDA called flashfire and use that to flash twrp I'll check back as soon as I'm back from work...

Unbrick bricked by writing boot.img to wrong mmcblk

Hello community members,
TL;DR no adb, no fastboot, no flashmode, no QDloader (or similar) ... how to unbrick it?
I was trying to force Android to allow lower lcd backlight brightness levels by patching framework-res.apk and I had the edited zip file ready to flash. Then I realized that my Android 7 Ressurection remix ROM (thread) flashed Cyanogenmod recovery, which I don't like. So I decided to reflash TWRP 3.0.2 (link) ( edit: using "fastboot flash boot twrp.img", which was almost fatal mistake) and it has gone almost well. The phone started to boot into recovery mode everytime (and took a long time doing so). So I googled a bit and found this thread which lead me to this thread. I was looking forward to seeing my display brightness at lower than default values, so I probably skipped some security checks and texts with red color, so I flashed the zip with the boot.img replaced. After flashing I chose reboot and nothing happened since.
The problem is I flashed something that was not for my device (extracted boot.img to wrong mmcblk). The command that bricked my phone is (from META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script):
Code:
package_extract_file("boot.img", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p6");
After that it doesn't boot, doesn't light up LED (even when charging), doesn't get detected by PC in any state.
So I have no adb, no fastboot and no flashmode and not even a QDloader or similar mode.
Is there a way to unbrick it?
EDIT: How to unbrick it using JTAG interface? If I find somebody that has the required equipment, what data do I need to give them?
Hey there! Did you manage to solve the issue, because I just got into the same situation after the zip didn't save the corrected partitions but the initial ones... So i ended up without any signs of life in my phone

Nope, I found no solution ... even some kind of Qualcomm flashing mode via COM (serial port over USB) does not show up nowhere. I gave up and bought a used S5 mini, which is full of features I appreciate.
I'm gonna keep this Xperia M for some time if some solution comes up.

Nice looking tutorial, but I cannot find any download link for that One Click Unbrick Tool in that article. I doubt it would work, they are not explaining what it does.

can you still access fastboot mode? anyway you need to know first what is exactly partition that you overwrite with boot.img :/
. That was really critical -_-

No, as I said. The partition that got overwritten was /dev/block/mmcblk0p6. It was overwritten by boot.img from LG OPTIMUS 3D that I link to in the main post.
here you can download unbrick tool https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153310

I don't think this has any chance that it will work.

Do you know how to use Flashtool?
If so, did you already attempt flashing a ftf via Flashmode (Hold VolDown)?

I know what Flashtool is. I know what ftf is. I used it once I think.
But the phone does not boot into flashmode as I mention in the main post.

LG K10 K430dsF possible Full Brick

So, i unlocked bootloader, tried to install TWRP 3.0.0 by berkantkz but it didn't work, so i used the gottlasz guide, after going to recovery i installed the cm 13 unnofficial rom by pvineeth97, after this the phone just bricked I can enter recovery mode (which is not TWRP) but it doesn't change anything, I can enter download mode, but after entering the usb connects and disconnects, making it impossible to use the LGUP. Is there any hope or I can't recover my phone at all?

I don't understand what do you mean by "USB" connects and disconnects? What do you see on screen after entering download mode?

After entering download mode, windows detects the phone, but after 1 sec it loses connection to the phone, in the K10 appears the normal download mode screen (after a little time, the phone reboots)

did you use the original USB cable of k10? try to use LGbridge instead since LGUP doesnt work perfectly with K10 because it so hard to find its DLL file. If you are using LGUP to flash use it with Uppecut Software to bypass its incompatibility issue search it in google and you will find it xda.

First you don't install twrp you just boot it from fastboot.
Other thing is that if you read any post in that thread you would see that everyone who tried to install that rom got their phone bricked, some of them succeeded to bring phone back to life, and some killed their devices for good..
So if you can't have stable connection via usb then I have bad news for you..

You have either bricked the phone or its not the correct rom,
Try a different rom, Maybe you can restore it with TWRP if you installed it, Or try download mode.

Make sure its for the correct model, I have a LG K10 the firmware is on the LG site but I have a At&t model which doesn't have official firmware from the sites. To get into android recovery which might help see your phone is bricked install ADB and Fastboot and run "adb reboot recovery" Also some LG phones don't have Fastboot like the At&t of the LG K10 Which I have. Hope you can get it to work
---------- Post added at 04:02 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:58 AM ----------
Also try Safe mode, you could try it maybe you can get into it, so if that is the case, its probably something with what you did or how you flashed, if you still can't get it to work maybe wrong firmware.

Adb doesnt find the phone i only can get into download mode and there it doesnt get recognized
My phone hasnt got fastboot too
I tried many firmwares now, neither of them work i tried to do it with lg bridge and it doesnt work either all of the firmwares where for my lg k10 m250n
Is there another way to get into recovery
Bit more information:
When i try to start it in safe mode it shows lg logo goes for a short while to a screen where it shows "erasing" then just goes to lg logo again.
And again another thing: the phone behaves the same if I flash the wrong rom it does the exact same.

How do you try to start that safe mode? What buttons you used?
>Is there another way to get into recovery
Go into download mode and using Send_Command
or lglaf.py give it this command: multi_init
There push Vol+ and then Power once.

I'll give it a try with the python script when I get to my pc tomorrow
Will be Posting the results directly after
Also 2 more questions

And can I flash custom recovery zips with that?

The Send_Command might be easier. With that py you have mod it a bit and use an older version drivers. Was it 4.04 or something, then it works.
If you're using Windows that is... Then there is Steadfasterx's and some other lglaf versions that might work...
With send_command you just find the the COM port the diagnose or whatever uses, like:
reg query HKLM\hardware\devicemap\SERIALCOMM
And then: Send_Command.exe \\.\COM[com port number]
Send_Command.exe \\.\COM22
Then you can give that command, and by default it will boot to the recovery.
In recovery there is that dead android guy waiting, that's why those buttons.
Custom zips: No way. Now keys to sign them... and the bootloader should be
unlocked to do any changes...

Basically the factory reset. Fastboot/bootloader doesn't work.
>There push Vol+ and then Power once.
edit: Actually, it is other way around. Push Power and then Vol+ once.

Actually, try with Vol- if Vol+ doesn't do the trick. Don't remember these so well anymore.

They start with a screen saying "erasing" and then just stop then it restarts two times and then just go into LG screen again

I don't have the bootloader too but I guess yours Is locked too like mine
But that doesn't help me.
I have download mode and recovery mode where the only option is to factory reset it.
Adb doesn't work
And it doesn't made a change for me if I flash a OS that is right or if I flash a OS that is wrong.
It does the same with both so I can't see how I should ever revive it.
Mabye a custom recovery packed into the OS file but idk how and where to get one.
