Bought a new SanDisk Ultra Dual usb 32gb for my S3. Both SanDisk and Samsung agree that it is OTG compatible. But when i plug the usb on my phone, nothing shows. I've tested on several HTC phones and even a Galaxy S5 and it works there but not on my S3.
Phone is rooted running on stock 4.4.4 kitkat rom.
OTG is not working at all in all roms kk 4.4.4 I've tried. Anyway, I think in based samsung roms, it doesn't work either...
OTG comes with the official samsung stock rom, and it deppends on the kernel, you could search for an alternative kernel for samsung based or aosp based roms, but I think you will find under 4.4.4 version.
I picked up a 16GB SanDisk Dual about a month ago. At the time my i747 was on a custom TW rom based on Android 4.3 with the MJ2 bootloader and MJB modem. The drive worked well on that ROM. It also worked well on my Acer 4.4.x tablet. I have since upgraded the phone to the NE4 bootloader and modem and installed CM11 and the drive still works over OTG. In fact I have used in on the phone, tablet, and a linux laptop in the past 24 hours.
Me too, but i fixed it.
1. Download from play store "USB OTG checker", its icon is a USB logo with a green tick on it. Open it and it should show 1 or 2 red X:
If yes, click on fix, give su permission and reboot.
If no, go to next step.
2. If it doesn't work with the fix it's a hardware problem (I had it too).
Cut a piece of paper/plastic sheet (better) and slide it under the USB port contact. Try to plug in your OTG and... Voilà! It should work!
If it doesn't reply or send PM, I could help you maybe.
(Can you check my thread on the Samsung TV mirroring? I need help there [emoji14] )

I have an AT&T Galaxy S3 running stock 4.1.2 rooted & CWM recovery. I have an MHL adapter, but it's cuts out, or shows multicolored snow quite a bit. As you may know, CM doesn't support MHL on the S3, so reverted to stock and the adapter seemed to work fine until I rooted the phone, then it started cutting out/snowing a lot.
Someone seemed to have the same issue, but one one replied. droidforums.net/forum/android-hacks-help/233660-s3-mhl-hdmi-adapter-question.html (sorry it's not a link)
Anyone have any similar issues/solutions?
Was CM10.2 before the MHL adapter, but downgraded to 4.1.2, made the mistake of updating to stock 4.3 (CFautoroot didn't work and stupid KNOX) but was able to downgrade back to 4.1.2.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
I am not able to charge my phone properly as when i plugin my phone to charger it does not charge then i have to reboot my phone 1-2 times to make it start charging.i have tried 3 chargers and all are working properly and the usb port is also not faulty as i can connect to my otg cable.
i am using latest official cyanogenmod 11 buld. i also tried paranoid android rom and was getting the same problem.
i had this problem back with samsung i9070 then i flashed an official rom and it's gone try going official and root later
Had this problem with my N-7100 twice, in the first time flashing an official ROM solved the issue, months later faced the same problem, but there was no software solution, had to give it back to Samsung's Service Center and got it fixed.

Click to collapse
That's the best solution I would recommend if it didn't work, then it's more likely to be a hardware issue
The question i have a 8.4 and a 10.5. The 8.4 is bone stock no root plain vanilla, updated to the lastest firmware. I plugged in a Toshiba 500GB Canvio® Connect using the 2013 Galaxy Tab USB Connection Kit "EPL-AU10WE " it detected and played the movies on it perfectly. Now when i hooked it up to the 10.5 no detection at all. the 10.5 was rooted running IronRom V2.2 . So i was thinking maybe its the kernel. So i restored it to stock updated it to latest version. Now its unrooted and stock as the first day i got it. Still no detection. So my question is why does the 8.4 read it but the 10.5 not?
So i' ve been using nexus 7 2013 on Lollopop for a long time.
Then I decided to flash the lastest factory image.
After that root.
Everything is working fine.
Then when i tried to use otg connected to my 1TB external storage.
It keeps mounting and unmounting.
This otg on a 1TB works on the 5.0.1 but o 6.0.1 it wont.
I tried flashing diffrent kernel but still no use
Please help i want to use my 1TB with my tab
Did you ever find out what happened? My OTG drive worked on stock rooted Marshmallow, but now that I flashed to Pure Nexus, it stopped working for some reason...
I have an old Samsung Galaxy Pro 8.4 Tablet (the model is SM-T320 and called mondrianwifi) that I'm trying to breath life into. I rooted it with ODIN + CF AutoRoot and then installed TWRP. I was able to successfully install Lineage OS several times, but I never got the sound to work.
First I tried Lineage 17.0-20191204-UNOFFICIAL-mondrianwifi (Android 11) with the corresponding GAPPS for Android. I had no sound in the Samsung media player, when playing VLC, etc.
So I wiped it clean and tried Lineage lineage-13.0-20180121-nightly-mondrianwifi (Android 6) with the corresponding "gapps-arm-6.0-pico-20220215" ... I booted it up and all programs seem to run fine...except it also doesn't play any sound.
Both versions are supposed to be supported and compatible according to forums at xda-developers.com and the website I got it off of.
I then tried ColtOS v6.5Euphoria-mondrianwifi-20201109-Official - and that also installs with programs running but the speaker sound doesn't exist.
The only way to get sound is to plug a headphone into the 3.5mm jack or use a bluetooth speaker.
Googling lineageosroms.com shows the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 (SM-T320) is called Mondrianwifi, so the Roms I downloaded that have Mondrianwifi in their names should be correct. https://lineageosroms.com/mondrianwifi/#start-the-build
Any help would be appreciated.
@Intranetusa
The chosen ROMs are correct for your device.
To exclude the possibilty of a hardware problem I think it might be helpful to return to stock via Odin, test speakers and start all over again.
Btw. CF-Autoroot is afaik only necessary if you want a rooted stock ROM.
When planning to flash a custom ROM anyway there's no need for that.
