Anyone else with a sticky power button? It stopped clicking today and is more of a soft press now. Using my fingernail to pry a bit in the gap between button and phone returns the physical click, but it quickly goes soft again.

Ive had my evo for a couple of weeks now and my power button tends to squeak when I press it. it usually only happens when I have it palmed in one hand and press it.
anyone else have this problem? or know how I can fix it?

It's due to the power button pressing on the plastic around it, from being used so much. I have the same issue with my Vol- button due to using it so much to flash in recovery.

Hi,
My fingers mistakenly hits the power button constantly and it turns off the phone.
Is there a way to change the settings for the power button? For example change it to a long click or a double click to turn off phone?
Thanks

lol I had the same problem for the first week, got used to it.
My power button is very sensitive also. Sometimes while walking with my phone in my jacket pocket the power button gets bumped and my phone gets turned on. I use the pattern lock feature so I don't have to worry about "pocket dialing" but I still don't like the idea.. I have my screen time set for ten minutes. I don't want my screen on for no reason at all.. I wish they made the power button less sensitive.
I got the Body Glove case from the Sprint store and this has helped hide the power button from me hitting it.

the power button on my phone seems very loose, i feel like it can fall off anytime it wants.
i have gone to the store and they exchange me a new one and it doesnt feel much better.
if i compare between the power button with the volume button, the volume button is very tight and secure.
am i the only one have that problem or it is normal that the power button is a lot loosely than volume button?
thank you for all the idea.
My power button seems fine, firm

Hello guys, I'm reading ebooks on this tablet in portrait mode. it happens to me quite often that I touch the back or menu button while holding the tablet by accident and close the book. Is there a way how to disable these buttons? I'm rooted.
Thank you

Did you see this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2539936
I posted in that thread, but just to reiterate, you need to edit /system/usr/keylayout/sec_touchscreen.kl, not sec_touchkey.kl like on the S3 as described here: http://brandtkrueger.wordpress.com/...ation-buttons-on-the-galaxy-s3-requires-root/.
On mine, I rem'd out 4 of the 8 lines in that file - 2 lines that have MENU and 2 lines that have BACK in them, and it works. My buttons still light up, but they don't make a noise or haptic feedback, nor do they do anything. Oh also, I haven't tested this yet, but if you want to disable the physical HOME button, I think you need to edit gpio-keys.kl. There are 4 lines in that file, all referring to the physical keys on the tablet (vol down, vol up, power, and home).
Hold down the HOME button and the POWER button. The HOME button is on the front of the phone at the bottom, the POWER button is on the right side of the phone.
Alternatively, using the Stylus pen, click the button on top of the Stylus once and then long press on the screen. Using this method also allows you to crop or draw on the screen capture.
