So, i wanted to root my D820n single sim, and I used HTC All-in-One tool, and accidently flashed recovery from M8 ( I think ). So I tried evey recovery (TWRP or Stock ), and I didnt succeded. Closest I got is with TWRP dump of 820n recovery but I still got red triangle when the update of 5.0 started.
That didn't worked so I tried flashing thru rebootRUU, but i got this:
target reported max download size of 16777216 bytes
Invalid sparse file format at header magi
So, I can't root or go back to stock :S, I would like to go to stock bcuz 5.0 update.
Thanks in forward, every help is usefull! :good::good:

Seems your fastboot tool is too old. Try a later one.
Wait sometime if your Lollipop update fails. I'm soon releasing a custom build.

Done
And btw if u want to update to lollipop don't root it.because you will not gonna receive the update

Hi Gentlemen,
I am new to rooting Androind phones since been using iphone all this years. Right now, I think my HTC One X is bricked. This is what I've done to cause it in this situation:
1) After installing Clockwork Recovery and Super SU. I installed the super wipe.
2) Run super wipe and proceeded to install Android Revolution ROM but the installation was unsuccessful. Not much reason was stated. So I proceeded to reboot the phone and now it just hang at the splash screen.
I've done alot of read up and research the forum how to unbrick my phone but I'm clueless and don't know what to do anymore. I can still get to bootloader screen and that's the furthest I can go.
Pleasse help me.

I take it you did the right thing and made sure you have the right RUU for your phone before you attempted to root?
Hmmm managed to get myself stuck in the same situation here a well as wouldnt go back into recovery. Have relocked bootloader but whn I try to reflash RUU it wont recognise the phone even though it shows in device manager correctly and I can control via fastboot commands but doesnt show when using adb devices.
Any ideas whey RUU cant see the phone?

Remember to Flash Stock Recovery before relocking your bootloader.
wen you are done whit that enter bootloader and press Fastboot then run the RUU file...
DaDoctor!
ya i was one of the first to say that lol but i dont care anymore hehe im just trying to help ppl but sometimes ill get wen seeing ppl posting that exact same thing you have done to alot of pll
Managed to get the RUU to recognise my phone, needed HTC Sync installed even though everything else was working ok without, but although I can now flash RUU's I get a customer number error which I guess Im getting as my phone was a branded T-Mobile one.
Therefore am I correct in saying that unless I can get RUU 1.26.110.5, which is the RUU I need, or get recovery working again by some mircale then Im screwed and now have a rather expensive paper weight?
I manage to boot to cwm recovery. And now the question is, how can I transfer the stock rom or the android revo hd rom to my sdcard from fastboot since i cant boot up my phone cos it stuck at the flash screen. Since I had done the superwipe before all this and now its empty.
Thanks for all the tips given so far.
I FOUND THE SOLUTION !!!!!!!!!!!!!
First Sorry for my French !
So, flash stock recovery first, lock the recovery.
Go to fastboot, and click on the Power Off, screen goes black and the phone is OFF.
Put the charger and the usb on the phone, WAIT 1 or 2hours, led still red, DON'T POWER ON !
When is done, go fastboot, launch RUU, IT'S DONE, battery is good !
Works for me

Cool well done for getting back into recovery....how did you manage it? As for getting rom back did you not do a backup of the previous rom before wiping? If not you may be stumped for the time being as USB mount does not work on any of the custom recoveries so far.
I fastboot the boot.img and also flash the CWM recovery. This steps enable me to get back to recovery.
But my mistake was i did not any back up on the previous rom and now i cant do a normal boot up as it will stuck at the htc white screen. So i believe the reason it cant boot up is because there is no rom at all.
So now, the only way i can flash rom from recovery is to send file to my sdcard via fastboot. but i don't know the command needed for it, so I need help with the command. i have with me now is the stock rom and also ARHD rom. but i cant access my sdcard to transfer the file.
I have tried to download the stock RUU but unfortunately it says that my CID is imcompatible. My set is from Singapore and now I will try to download this RUU RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_hTC_Asia_HK_1.26.708.2_Radio_1.1204.90.13_release_251215_signed.exe.
If all else fails, final option is to send back my set to HTC service center and have it repaired and pay the charges

Backups are only half of the story. When you cant get into recovery to restore the backups that you HAD made and then when trying to reflash the RUU to resotre your phone it then wipes the backups but then allows you back into recovery where you now have no backups nor the ability to mount USB or push anything to the SD so and still in the same siutation just with nice blue writing now thats just plain sods law......LOL!

Think we are fairly screwed until either USB/ADB is working in recovery or S-Off is available in which case any RUU should work I believe. Worth hanging on rather than paying HTC in my opinion.
Hi guys,
I got an issue since I tried to downgrade from leak ICS for A101 (the russian) to HC.
Since that day, each time I try to use recovery with a stock rom, I always got the same message while booting recovery kernel image : Recovery verified failed.
I downgraded because ICS had a very annoying draining battery issue but even after downgraded, it seemed something went wrong as I cant use any stock recovery rom at all.
Would you any idea so that I could go back to an official A101 stock rom o that I could get OTA future upgrades ?
I searched all over the forum and googled as well billions of pages with no success.
Thanks for your help. :good:

Take a look here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33574648
You can use this to update to ICS for a100 but instead of the 101, you'll lose 3g. If you can find the 101 ICS update then use that instead.
You may end up needing to go to stock ICS then root to get recovery back as the honeycomb boot loader won't do fast boot.
In the end you'll need to replace recovery to do anything else, have you hard reset with the volume key + lock switch toggle?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
What procedures did you use to go to ICS and then back to HC? What boot loader is displayed when booting?
My guess is that somehow you are on the ICS recovery while on HC. Causing the recovery fail, or the recovery is not there. I would flash the Honeycomb recovery, then reboot a few times, and then boot to the recovery to confirm it is working. Then you should be good to go to flash an official HC or ICS a101 ROM. http://vache-android.com/?dir=Tablets. Has most of the ROMs. Some a101 ROMs are located in the a100 folder. Look for the prefix of 'a101' in the ROM name. You will have to do your own research on the ROM versions, as I'm not versed in a101 ROMs.
I have attached a copy of the HC recovery.

I think the same'as my boot loader is 3.0.1 from what Acer recovey tells me.
The procedure is the normal one for the custom leak version of ics (four files renamed one after the other as update zip flashed through recovery (power + rock volume buton at the Left).
However when I tried to recover Hc stock rom things went wrong. I haven t been able to boot back until I flash another time one of the hc stock rom.
From this day, I have been able to boot ans use hc but for each update or each time I tried to flash a custom or stoc rom I alway got tis eror message.

You can't run a custom ROM on the honeycomb bootloader. You must be on ICS then root then unlocked then custom recovery THEN you can use custom ROMs.
The last sentence I take to mean you can't run a custom ROM, in which case update to ICS again then follow the directions.

I cant't anything at all in fact !! That's the point... Whatever is the file I try to flash, I got the same message from scratch : "recovery verified failed". I doesn't even boot on the file itself.
How can I do to repair the recovery process ? Do I have to rename HC-Recovery.IMG or do I have to flash it from the pc itself within the Terminal ?
I have moved a little forward :
I used adb reboot-bootloader to use fastboot from the pc and tried to erase or reflash and I got this : Bootloader v0.03.14-ICS Satrting Fastboot Usb download protocol
Fast Boot: Not suported the command in Lock mode
Failed to process command erase recovery or download 0034c100 error (0x2)
That confirms the fact that I'm on a ICS bootloader with HC !!
I tried to unlock the bootloader :
it seemed to work :
O:\ACER A101\ICS UPDATES\ICS_rooting>fastboot oem unlock
...
OKAY [ 0.093s]

Unlock doesn't work on the a100 bootloader, only the a200 ics boot loader, have you done a hard reset? You have to or the hc boot loader won't fire up.
Power off the tab, hold the volume furthest from the lock switch, press and hold power, once the screen comes on let go of power and flip the lock switch a couple times while still holding the volume key.

I did and it's exactly the same messages...
You can push a new recovery img to the recovery partition with terminal or adb.
Fastboot can only been used from the pc. I tried to push the recovery from the pc and I got the same same error messages...
Su hasn't been installed on the tablet. Even after the hard reset, the issue is the same.
Hi, I am having a problem with the recovery on my One X (UK - HTC_001). I am still running the stock ICS ROM, was planning on flashing JB ROM, but noticed that the OTA update became available for my device yesterday. I flashed stock recovery (endeavoru_recovery_signed) & proceeded with the OTA update, it got about 1/3 of the way through & switched to the red ! triangle. It rebooted & still works perfectly, so I figured back to plan A & flash a JB ROM. This is where my problems have began...
1. When booted into recovery, it loads a small image (a handset with green circular arrows above it) in the centre of the screen for a few seconds then goes back to the red ! triangle & eventually (after couple of minutes) reboots the handset.
2.When I try to flash CWM Recovery or any other Recovery I get this error....
C:\Users\Danny\Downloads\OneXRoot>fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-tou
ch-5.8.4.0-endeavoru
error: cannot load 'recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.0-endeavoru'
'fastboot erase recovery' comes up with a similar error.
I have also tried flashing CWM Recovery from ROM Manager several times, it appears to download & says flash complete, but when I reboot into recovery it still loads the useless stock recovery.
3. When i flashed the unlock code again i got this error (although the handset is now showing as unlocked)....
C:\Users\Danny\Downloads\OneXRoot>fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
sending 'unlocktoken' (0 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.021s]
writing 'unlocktoken'...
(bootloader) unlock token check successfully
FAILED (status read failed (Too many links))
finished. total time: 16.391s
Other than this the handset works as normal. I am unsure about attempting to flash a JB ROM without having CWM Recovery. Any help / advice would be much appreciated.

depends on what you want. for stock android i'd still go for cm10 official and i used it for three months and didn't have any problems. now i'm trying jb sense roms. i tried arhd for a few hours but got irritated of the stock sense look so i flashed renovate (renovate is a jb sense rom that looks a bit like vanilla jb, of course with the help of launchers)

This rom is for evita/htc one xl. You need to use an endeavoru/htc one x rom
Sent from my One X using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
it works!!!!
So it really works!! After i tried to install this version for One X xl (i do have also try with same endeavoru version) and waiting for at least 30 min with the HTC screen, i decided to try the backup again. So back to recovery and give a shot. And it works!!! I assume that because this backup was made before i had install the Cyanogenmod it need the SENSE to work again. I thought that the backup was from the cyanogenmod but it was from time before it. So now i have it restored to rev.hd rom. Lot to learn about this world, lot of mistakes to make an try to fix them.... but when you finally get it right (with very good advice from good people) it's rewarding feeling.
Thanks everyone, lets try not to make that error again.:good:
When you get to bootloader check if it says evita or endeavoru

yes
Yes it do say that it is Endeavoru. I think that the real problem was that i did not flash the boot.img right. probably the .img file was different that the one i got. (10.2.0) Since the update came true OTA of Cyanogenmode (did i understand it right?) I should have flash the new boot.img from the 10.2.1 zip file via fastboot to get this work. I just assume...

Yes if the update have kernel change you must to flash every time boot.img from the update archive or rom archive we don't have S-OFF. But have one way to do this Check in Original section for Kernel Lighter it give the chance to flash boot.img via recovery and Aroma file manager but read all before try something
So I was able to download the whole system image from that french site for the x-force. It seems that the whole thing will not extract, however I was able to get the stock recovery to extract without error.
Can someone with an X-Force test this by running
Code:
fastboot boot *path/to/recovery.img*
If it boots successfully we should have a working stock recovery.img
Then our unlocked XForce brothers should be able to test out some of the existing recoveries.

But what for?
With stock rom and unlocked bootloader i also have stock recovery.
Power off phone, press voldown and power.
Next by volkeys select 'recovery' and press power.
You'll see android logo with triangle. Simultaneously press volup or voldown (i don't remember now) and power,
and you see stock recovery commands with some options (update from sdcard, update from adb, wipe cache, factory reset).

If this is a working copy of the stock recovery, it will allow people to attempt to flash TWRP or others for the other MOTO X phones. If something goes wrong, you are able to flash back to stock recovery. IIRC, most moto X are very similar. If you are successfully able to flash TWRP, rooting will be a breeze, as it should prompt you to flash su once you boot to the recovery the first time.
Edit: the commands i provided tell your phone to boot the recovery from your computer. Not overwrite your existing one. This should allow you to test a recovery without actually overwriting anything. More details here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2415668
I know about similars between mxf and mxs, but flash to stock recovery - on motorola.co.uk stock rom is still missing for download.
Flashing not trusted software from french page is little dangerous.
Edit: in weekend i can try boot recovery from pc.

You arent flashing it, you are just booting it...
You could apply the same principles to try and boot any recovery... the fastboot boot command does not flash. If you were to run fastboot flash recovery, it would overwrite.

7zip - unpack whole "X_Force_XT1580_KINZIE_RETEU_5.1.1_LPK23.145-5_cid7_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip"
from french site without any problems
@asuhoops8628 made really good point! For now @damkol is the only candidate to test it. Looking forward to see result.

I might have just got a bad DL then. DL took 8+ hours & mine was failing when unpacking part 4 of the system image.
Do you mind rehosting on Dropbox or another site?
@damkol could you re-upload then? It's good for all Force users to have working stock rom.
Tomorrow i reup somewhere else with sha512 checksum.
just grab it from the firmware.

@asuhoops8628
@Zeljko1234
Code:
D:\mxf>fastboot boot recovery.img
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 0.920s]
booting...
OKAY [ 0.343s]
finished. total time: 1.264s
Works fine!
So you booted stock recovery? Now is step to try some of recoveries for similar Moto devices
Yes, stock recovery boot's properly.
I check headers in stock recovery mxf and twrp for clark - both are near similar - stock has added boot_cpus=0-5
But - twrp for clark file is little smaller - little worried
You should be good because you're not really flashing anything.

you're allowed to flash the stock recovery, not another one, so nothing happened here.
the same way you can flash the entire firmware with RSD if you had a software error, and still be no news.
Okey - no risk no fun.
I boot twrp for clark (moto x pure) on my Moto X Force.
Screen was upside down, one touch-button works, but slider not.
But - it's promising.
