Hello all,
Problem: Phone randomly turning screen on, fading away, and then turning back on while charging and not charging. Some screens also seem to 'refresh' randomly including Facebook, news feeds etc. Phone acts like the back button is being pressed when composing messages as well, in various apps, stock message app, Facebook, Instagram etc.
History: Prior to me rooting the phone, I never had this issue but when I rooted, I stayed on 5.0.2 Android and flashed the ViperOne rom. All was good. I started running into this issue along with car mode randomly turning on by itself. I disabled the app and eventually just removed it (via Titanium Backup), thinking it was the problem.
I went S-Off to flash the international firmware since I wasn't receiving calls due to HD-Voice not being compatible with the rom I had downloaded. All was well until a couple of days with the rom and the phone started turning on by itself, when plugged in and when not plugged in. Also, having issues with the phone backing out of messages/refreshing on its own started as well.
Asking for help on ViperOne thread, I was instructed to provide a catlog of when it would do this. Attached is the catlog if anybody is interested. Diagnosing this, the OP concluded that he found this line of code a few times, which is how many times the screen came on:

Been clearing SuperSU to see what it is that is requesting access and waking the screen up but nothing has been posted in the logs when the screen turns on, so I'm stumped and at a dead end. I'm thinking of flashing an RUU prior to 5.0.2 to see if the problems stays. I've tried flashing a different rom (SkyDragon) and this issue still came back.

Bump, anybody have any ideas?
Would a messed up mirco USB charging port cause it to short out and display these kinds of issues? Trying to narrow it down.

Hi,
Can someone include logging kernel messages to file on the sdcard during boot.
My reason for asking is I need to debug a constant reboot loop that occurs randomly. When the phone appears to overheat it wont boot up into recovery preventing me to use ADB, it just reboots constantly, meaning every time it reboots your ring buffer is cleared also resulting in those logs being lost. Really pointless if you need to debug something. Klogd would be really useful here if it was compiled into the kernel.
After the phone cooled down it will boot again normally, both into normal Android and the recovery, just for it to reboot eventually if heavily utilized. I've isolated this not being the radio by doing tests with out the sim slotted.
I am rooted with s-off.
Being technical and all i just would like to have some hard evidence before making a call to get the motherboard replaced. I believe the kernel logging would give me those "error codes" I'm looking for attributing to the rebooting.

Update*
I've ended up replacing the mainboard. Phoned was send to Leaf and they confirmed that the mainboard was faulty that's causing the phone to reboot constantly. After the mainboard replacement I've got a new IMEI number too. It's not a overheating issue as previously speculated by many forums. Save yourself the pain and just replace the mainboard if you have random reboots. Can't wait to root it tonight.
Hope this helped someone.
Alright as the Title says I got a problem with Froyo.
First of all, this is the first time i ever tried anything with a cellphone, although so far it went well (took me long though).
First I removed an old version of cyanogenmod from the old user.
Then I followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098899
Then I installed Froyo by Laszlo 5.2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=929678
Now to my ultimate surprise, I actually got this all done and it works perfectly, except for one thing. Wifi does not work. When I turn it on it starts scanning for networks, then gives the message "unable to scan for network" and Wifi automaticly gets turned off again. Before installing this I always found 2 networks from the point I'm sitting now.
I simply got no clue what it could be.
Some info. Following the guide for radio and boot I got the correct information in the bootloader as mentioned in step 3:

Little update here. On some forums i found that a file bcm_supp.conf in /data/wifi caused a problem like mine. When I plug in my phone in my pc I only see the sd card. Therefore I installed sdk/adb thing, connected with my phone (correctly). and I manually tried to remove the file via cmd. This resulted in the notification that the file did not exist.
Hence, back to nothing. Any way I can make my internal memory show up again?
All in all it seems like I got the same problem as many people had with Froyo. But it seemed solved for everyone after a certain patch. My Froyo version is obviously more recent. And no one seems to have this problem with this version of Froyo (in the Froyo by Laszlo thread page 97ish and forth)
Hi,
I using htc desire (telextra) in india bought from Australia. Initially used stock rom then change to custom rom and used airtel sim card. i used it up to nearly one and half year without any problem. Before three months i had ported my sim card to Vodafone. After that i am facing freezing issues at the freezing time it receiving incoming calls and rings well but display is full freezed. Also while clicking on the power button turn on the hardkeys and off when agian click on the ower button...
Have to restart it for getting agian properly. At that time received incoming will show as missed call..
I tried custom roms (paul modaco and leedroid) after that i switch to stock unroot, then also facing the same issue
it will be highly appreciable if anyone helps me to solve this issue!!!
What hboot did you use and is your device s-offed?

I have the same thing happening to me. I too have been using A2SD+ for about 9 months now.
Within the last few weeks..
I was running Insert Coin A2SD+ 1.1.4 with the stock hboot, occasionally the phone would freeze and the only way to restart the phone was to remove the battery.
After searching around it turns out it could be one of two problems. Either my microsd card is failing (16GB Class 4 Sandisk) or there are some rouge apps causing this freeze?
I recently flashed the CM7 r2 Hboot and is now running the CM7 version of Insert Coin 1.1.4, as I thought changing ROMs would eradicate this problem but last night it happened again. Pulled out the microsd this morning and gave it a good clean on its connectors. Seeing how long it's gonna last before it decides to do its not-so-funny freeze thing.
Used android flasher to upgrade the radio to 5.17.05.23 as well even though it doesn't say so below. It does on the 'About Phone' page.
Not sure if this is going to help but this is my phone.

Well, good news is since I posted there hasn't been any screen freezes or the suspected app causing the freeze. Thinking now it probably is the microsd card failing.
Happened just now, no apparent reason for it either. Phone has been pretty idle the whole day, just one phone call earlier today.
Return to stock. If problem persits, call HTC.
Good evening fellow androiders,
during my daily use my HTC Desire (GSM) using a MIUI Gingerbread ROM suddenly, after months without problems, started acting weird.
The battery was drained, and when I plugged it in at home it booted into MIUI just fine and after 5 - 50 seconds it goes black and reboots. It now always does that and is therefore unusable.
Tried wiping and flashing a new ROM, tried booting without sd, sim, etc. always the same problem.

Try switching to stock sense ROM and see if you notice a difference. Read up on logcat, make logs and report. None can advise with guesswork.
hi guys
I really need your help and I don't know what is wrong with my HTC ONE M8. I rebooted my phone this evening and then i started to get the following error message:
unfortunately the process com.android.systemui has stopped
followed by:
process system isn't responding problem
The phone then keeps locking me with my PIN every 3 or 4 seconds, but after unlocking i can't access anything
The only thing i could try was going to recovery TWRP and clear cache then data, but as soon as i did it, i lost all applications and I don't seem to have any signal or WIFI
One addition is that i used to have a VIPER rom installed and i still have the venom tweaks on the setting after clearing data/cache
The details of my phone are as follows:

Well since you lost all your data, you might as well reflash the ROM. Maybe something got messed up when you wiped data/cache.
Did you make changes in viper settings prior to the reboot that started those issues? That very well could be the cause of the system ui force close issue.
i think the cause was an app i installed, and it needed some root access. The app was called AIRPIN CAST
do you know where is the thread for upgrading to the latest firmware (lollypop)? I might have to do that before upgrading to the latest VIPER ROM
i have managed to restore my phone now and it is as new with lollypop firmware and the latest VIPER ROM 4.3. However, i can't seem to connect to my WIFI, it keep trying to connect then disconnect
any fix for that please?
for some reason it did connect now, strange!!!
