Advanced Xperience Projects on Facebook
After year and a half of research and development I'm happy to announce the newest project from AXP - AXP ROM for Z1.
The purpose of this ROM is to fully restore the original UI for Xperia that Sony left behind. Everything from 1.6 to 4.4.4 (including some goodies from LP) will be incorporated to achieve the ultimate Xperia UX. The ROM itself comes with some modifications that already hint for the whole idea but there will be lots and lots of updates in order to restore the original concept of Sony for android.
Of course not everything can be imported into the ROM as there are lots of versions of widgets, apps, etc with different looking so in the next week or so I'll provide a link where you can choose between different widgets, apps, themes, small apps, icons, packs and even system apps like framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk. You may look at it as a shop where everything is for free of course. This allows for unique combination of Xperia content on your device.
I'm not responsible for bricked devices, follow the instructions and you'll be running the ROM problem-free.
I'm not interested in making this ROM one-to-rull-them-all. So don't expect it to be the best and has lots of customised content and awesome mods or be extremely optimized performance wise, saying that I'll sure take care of smoothening the performance and add more in terms of functionality. The goal of the ROM is to bring back the original Xperia feeling.

--- flash AXP Z1.zip via TWRP
- mirror: AXP Z1.zip
--- clear dalvik/cache
--- choose to install UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip but don't flash it right away, press "add more zips" and choose Z1-lockeddualrecovery2.8.21-RELEASE.flashable.zip . Now install them
--- clear cache and reboot
--- the first boot will take longer as you know, don't worry if the bootanimation stops, it's just too short
--- that's it!
Q: After installing the Rom I'm getting this layout:
A: It's because the layout has changed to Z Ultra, everything works ok, you just have more place to add stuff
Q: When can we expect the next update?
A: I can't promise that updates will come on a regular base, the period between updates will be usually one, up to two weeks.
Q: How is this ROM better than the others and why should I chooseprefer this over others?
A: It's not better nor worse, the key word is difference so it is up to you to choose whether to install it or not.
Q: Will you release some of the functions as separate mod?
A: I probably will if there is demand for it
Q: Why the ROM is so small in size (around 600mb)?
A: Considering download and installation time I thought that it will be better off if there are no full libs and some other system stuff, just the apps and files that make up the ROM. And that's why you should have .368 firm to make sure the ROM runs perfectly.
Q: When i switch a theme some icons in the notification panel don't change their color, why?
A: This is completely normal since the color is changed in the xml files instead of java files where everything is automatically refreshed because it is executed in runtime. In order to make a toggle change its color after you've set the theme just switch it off and then on or press edit toggle and add or remove a toggle - that will make them change their color to the one set from theme.
Q: I've installed the rom according to the instructions but i get bootloop/restarts/freezing etc.
A: just check this post, it's explained what to do, but basically make a fresh installation of 5.1, deodex and the flash the rom ---> how to fix bootloop/restarts/freezing etc.

@broadsword2425, just added original Z1 layout in second post under additional downloads section, just flash it and you're ready to go. Just one thing, before flashing it remove the icons from the dock bar and make sure you have no widgets/shortcuts on your both stock launcher and 4Corner launcher, otherwise you'll get overlapping which is difficult to fix .

Have you cleared dalvik and cache after installing it? Also, make sure that you have deodexed and have no odex files in system. If you have backup restore it, else flash fresh 5.1, flash the deodexing zip and after reboot flash the rom, of course after every flashing clear both caches.

Horrible default dpi settings. And after flashing layoutZ1.zip got stuck on boot.

The ROM should be working on Z1 compact just as fine. However before flashing the ROM create a backup of your build.prop as there could be some small differences compared to Z1's. Flash the ROM according to the instructions and please report back to get me know how is the rom performing or if you have some troubles in case it doesn't work.
Also the link to AXP's cloud is under Additional downloads section in post two. As I said there you can find more Xperia content including some themes that were present in earlier Xperias specially modified for AXP rom. For now I've added all of the themes from Xperia S, Neo and Ray. Soon I'll release the first of many packs that include some special widgets, themes, apps and wallpapers found on certain Xperias.

Honami Camera doesn't work
Enter to Honami Camera with physical button and change Superior Auto mode for Manual. Everything should work then.
Notification LED is blinking while chargin
Go to Nature Options/ Led Controller and disable it.
com.android.phone FC
If you installed AOSP deafult or AOSP/CM system apps, you'll get com.android.phone FC twice in each reboot. After that everything will work like a charm.
Internet doesn't work
flash this and go to Settings/Xperia/Internet Settings
I want to install AOSP or AOSP system Apps
Do a format system before and also don't forget choosing AOSP framework. com.android.phone FC is caused by AOSP Phone.apk so I'd recommend to choose another option.

Installation Instructions
A fresh installation is always recommended.
LOCKED Bootloader
If you don't come from a rom based on .96 firmware, please select .96 kernel in AROMA.
Download the zip and save it in your SDcard.
Go to CWM and do the 3 wipes: data, cache and dalvik. Format System as well.
Flash the zip and choose the options you want in AROMA.
Let the ROM settle.
UNLOCKED Bootloader
If you are not on a rom based on .96 firmware install a .96 based kernel: Doomslord's (recommended) or stock.
Download the zip and save it in your SDcard.
Go to CWM and do the 3 wipes: data, cache and dalvik. Format system as well.
Flash the zip and choose the options you want in AROMA.
Let the ROM settle.

Notes:
Please do NOT make mirrors - downloads are counted
Copy the UltimaMod file to your Galaxy S4's external SD card.
Turn off your Galaxy S4.
Boot into Recovery Mode by pressing and holding down the Volume Up, Home, and Power buttons.
[Optional] Make a NANDroid Backup by selecting Backup and Restore. Select Backup.
Select Wipe Data/Factory Reset. Confirm the action on the next screen.
Unmount /cache
Select Install ZIP from SD card.
Select Choose ZIP from SD card and then select the UltimaROM file.
Follow the on-screen instructions.
Select Reboot System Now.
GApps
You can use any Gapps package with this ROM, however I have taken the time to prepare three versions for you and include them in the installer. You can choose not to install them and instead install your own.

Hey @Kryten2k35, glad to see you on a solo project on our s4. Does this include your themed apps? One question...why do you use Supernexus as a base? I mean, it was a one shot rom, not updated for long time (never used it though). What about brood AOSP?

I did see your code base after I'd already forked Supernexus. Though, I chose Supernexus because it has multiple device support (mainly S3 and S4, which I own). Looking through the manifest, most of it is AOSP with a few items from CyanogenMod (kernels, etc) so this is now more up to date than Supernexus anyway.
If you don't mind me pinching commits that provide fixes in the future (with credits in my commits, etc) then that'd be cool

2. please do not show Rom control app in app drawer because it is already in the settings app. :silly:
3. more features :victory:
4. imo, it's better to use up and down arrow instead of U and D in data connectivity?

1. I will look into that. I'm still in favour of #33b5e5, personally.
2. I considered this also. I think you are right.
3. Features are planned (check the to-do list)
4. I agree. There are already icons for up, down and up and down as per OmniROM's original implementation. I can add a secondary style like you mentioned later I also want to enable a different colour for up and down text.

Please dont change to stupid white theme this is kitkat not MilkyWay!!!!!!

After weeks of hard work here i am presenting you my second ROM for Xperia S/SL based on 96 Firmware. For Locked and Unlocked Bootloader. Ultimate BlackXS Ultra version is a re builded version of Ultimate BlackXS rom. I have fixed maximum of bugs. No more grey looks in most of the Black Apps. This time i came with a better look. Its called Flat UI. U can feel a poor Flat UI experience in most of the black system apps and third party apps. This will be a new experience for 2012 Device users.
Up Coming Versions will be OTA Updates. U don't need to download whole ROM again and again for updates..Just flash the OTA Update Zips. Thats all. 100% there will b some bugs. We can't find any custom roms without a single bug. Every custom roms hav bugs..

Love the flat UI BTW. If it's possible, please, change the quick settings toggles without separators, it doesn't go with the flat UI. Thanks for the ROM.

Thanks for the feedback my friends. Its because of the fully transparent SystemUI. Don't worry. I will make an add on soon with semi transparent SystemUI. So u can flash that.. Pls wait for some times. :thumbup:
Next update i will add new settings.apk with flat ui quick settings also. :thumbup:
For gmail force close simply remove gmail using root explorer and install/update from playstore again.

Did this Rom with kernel now work with MutliRom when im on Evo9 as primary and i will RockZ1 V3 as secondary?
Or can i only use RockZ1 as primary rom? Becouse MutiRom has (i dont know why) problems with roms with aroma installer.

you can in TWRP swipe Mode Copy your evo9 to secondary, then install RockZ1k as primary and then swap the rom's sorry for my englisch. What is evo9?
Or make Backup from evo9, wipe, install RockZ1k, copy to secondary, restore your evo9

Evo9 was the best custom Rom with stock apps before rockz1 comes. But the developer wait till lollipop roll out. At the moment is evo9 sleeping and I look ever time for better roms.

My device is z1 compact and I installed the new rom. After installation when it reaches the language page it get stuck and restarts and this repeats. Help please

Hmm please don't select z3 stereo mode. And every thing works.....
And I had stopped supporting z3 stereo mode. Because that broke my earpiece speaker due to high dp. At where it harm our device speaker

There's also no dt2w Function even if I choose it in Aroma. Anyway, 3.0 is as great as 2.#. Bad to hear that z3 Stereosound brokes your Speaker. The Sound was really good in my opinion.

Boot Loops
I was on version 2.1, OTA just notified that there is a new version v3 ready to be downloaded. I downloaded it and updated it. I have choosen 40dpi or 42, I am not exactly sure about it. I also selected the z3 stereo thing. But after finishing the update. My dear Amami started making boot loops without display. The boot sound were playing but nothing on the screen. It was horrible :crying: I flashed her with flashtool anyway.
Are there any points to be taken in to attention while flashing the v3 ?
Beside the battery performance the v2.1 were great.

I lost my ear piece speaker at present. "

Don't know why but no matter what i do i always loose recovery,bootloader status unknown(was unlocked)

The Option in Aroma for odex/deodex is missing. Can you guys confirm this? I reflashed atm, cause i can't deinstall Systemapps with Titanium. After a clean new flash it's the same. With 2.# Had no Probs.

You can edit your SystemUI for that, this is a version of my system UI with IOS statusbar signals and battery icons, (only for XV,T)
