Is anyone experiencing a creaking noise when pressing the back of the phone with your fingers? It happens mostly at the bottom, but its not consistent, after I've made it creak, I won't be able to do it again until I've made another area of the phone creak first. It seems to be getting progressively worse. There doesn't seem to be any noticeable movement on the plastic.
Yes mine creaks all the time
Not mine

Yeah, after I put mine in a case and then removed it it has been a bit creaky whenever I touch it.
It always feels like the plastic is moving, but it never does, more that the glue is not holding on as tight as it did.
No idea, but until I see movement / separation, I feel right at home after the Nexus 5.
I've started the replacement process with Google, the sound is absolutely terrible now.

Do they dispatch straight away? I'm going to get a replacement as mine creaks badly like this too but I'm away from home until Sunday so I don't want to miss the delivery.

I had to go through the process, they send you a link that let's you order a new phone but doesn't actually charge any money to your card. I did it at midday and by 6pm it was dispatched by parcel force. If the original delivery was anything to go by, it will arrive tomorrow at midday. I'm in the UK by the way so I'm not sure if its any different in US or any other country.
During the process they sent me the documentation to print off for sending the defective device back, you can send it back in the same box that the replacement comes in which I will hopefully be doing tomorrow.

Okay this sounds super simple. I'm from the UK too and my original N5X came in less than 24 hours after dispatch so I imagine your replacement will too. I'll probably wait until Saturday before talking to support just to be safe.
Just wondering, what exactly did you tell the support in order for them to agree to replace it? I'm thinking i might mention the yellowish screen too. Only noticeable next to my original Nexus 5 but its definitely there.
Cheers!

I told them exactly what's happening, the case creaks badly when I press on it lightly. It's ridiculous but they have to run through the "troubleshooting" before they can progress the return which involves booting the phone in safe mode (I didn't know this existed; you when you go to power off the device, you hold the "power off" item in the menu that appears and allows you to reboot in safe mode) and then checking if the casing still creaks. I was like... Yeah, its a mechanical fault, of course it still makes a noise when I start it in safe mode. We had to repeat the same process after factory resetting the device. It's utter lunacy but it has to be done.

Can you get a picture?
Well I tried but its quite hard.
The glass is supposed to be onside the chassis and well it is for the 70% of the phone.
But half of the right side and especially the right top corner, you can feel it is off by a bit, and when you press slightly it goes in where its supposed to but doesnt stay there.
It is as if the adhesive of the glass isnt holding on the corner any more.

Who started THIS vile trend of replying with "This." Is it cool or something? I dunno, just figured I'd try it out. Will report back on my findings.
Been more than a month that i bought it.
And can't demand an exchange, got a friend buy it in UK and bring it over here. No way to take it back to UK for a while.
Was just wondering if it happened to someone else, or if someone had any recommendations about what ppssibly could cause this or how i could possibly fix it.

Are you positive it didn't get exposure to excessive pressure? That is the only logical way the glass would start to "pop" out! It's a strange one, never heard anything on these forums that is similar.
Yeah I am pretty positive, I baby my phones, my nexus one is still without a scratch.
That is why I felt the need to create a topic, since I never heard of something similar on any of the phones I owned/followed.

It should have a 1 year warranty against manufacturing defect. If there are no marks on it from a drop, they should replace that no questions asked. If the retailer wont take it, call Samsung.
Are you sure you don't mean the bottom right?
That corner actually is a tad higher than the other corners.
Nope my issue is on top left.
The international warranty doesnt include exchanges. If there is a manufacturing defect then the device should be sent to the country that it is bought in.
At least that is what the warranty card in tge box says.

Hi,
I had similar issue but located in the bottom-right corner of the phone. What I did was a bit risky but I just pressed the glass into the chassis a few times and it went in place. After this it looked perfect. Of course I can't guarantee the result, this is how I made it, of course this is not a professional way to repair things like that .
This is another time I have to write that something wrong is happening with Samsung's quality control. Quantity over quality, definitely. This is not an isolated case, I have read other posts where people were complaining about this, out-of-center camera sensor placement, clicks from the speaker, bad screen etc, not to mention the famous volume rocker bug. When you buy a phone for $700 you at least demand no obvious, visible defects.
I'm also having this issue on my phone, except that the screen is coming off on the left bottom part of the phone.
This was a replacement phone for the first one that was exchanged as DOA because of screen discoloration.
Went to the shop today and the sales rep was giving me attitude ("are you sure it isn't supposed to be like that?") and told me to return on Monday when the manager was there. Have to say I'm not really feeling the charm of Nexus at this point anymore. The iPhone might be fragile and limited, but at least the production quality is top notch...

Have you ever gone to any iphone forums and read problems iphone users have with hardware or software? Stuff happens with anything electronic that is mass produced. Every now and then you will have something that is not like it should be.
Let's not turn this into an iPhone vs Android battle =p
Each phone is graeat, for the ones that love them, each have flaws each have great parts.
Anyways, it appears that this is not an uncommon problem, and I think it is unlikely it will be causing much of a problem in the long term.
I'm pretty positive that the problem is caused by the adhesive holding the glass, not powerful enough, or not put enough at certain areas to hold on to it after a while.
It's not like, it's making the phone unfunctional or anything. I was wondering if it was only me having the problem, and appears not.
This is the 3rd Nexus phone Google had a say in, and all 3 had huge flaws somehow, which is tragic. Maybe G, should be more careful with choosing it's partners =)

Is that how its supposed to be ? My bottom right corner is higher than the benzel, all other corners are a hair below(if looking at in portrait). Being 4 days old planning on going to store to get replacement, seems this would affect a screen protector that i havent installed yet..
There's this weird flower type of a thing on the top left screen on the phone that wont come off at all. At first it was small and didnt know what or how it got there and now it got a little longer and it is very weird. Its hard to distinguish what it exactly it is. Could it possibly be a defective sign because it is still smooth and its not sign of a scratch more so internally. Its kind of hard to actually take a picture to show the weird design in good quality but im worried that it can keep getting longer. What should i do?

If you bought it within the past 30 days, you can get a replacement through buyers remorse. If its after 30 days, you will have to do a warranty replacement and then you would get a factory refurbished device.

Yes, When I held the tablet with my left hand to touch the screen with my right it creaked like a rock band with bad music! Geeish.....the silver chrome or whatever the material is wasn't tight and it just bend. I returned it right away. I really didn't want to return it. However, I paid full price and not second hand money so I expect the performance to be right, that means no noise. When listening to music or watching a movie it seems as if someone was moving around and that can be pretty annoying. I tried holding it different ways with no change. So back it went. Let Samsung sell. This I know imagine you trying to sell it to the next person, what do you think they might say and how much will the value go down?

Yes, As soon as I opened the package, I noticed the bottom right hand corner was creaking an popping. It is not like I was looking for it. That made me investigate if the rest of the trim was doing the same. If you put your mind into into it, you can get some creaking from other ends of the trim but nothing like the bottom right hand corner. Every time I pick it up, it is annoying me so much that I feel I should take it back. I am not sure the guys at PCWorld would accept this as a reason for full money back or replacement claim. I do like the tablet, but do not want a noisy plastic in my hands.
Is this enough of a reason to ask for a replacement?

Sadly I dont think it is (pure guess so dont take my word for it) BUT I can 100% say that your Tablet will have a little bit of lightbleed along the bottom and sides....this alone is a good enough reason for them to accept and exchange - Good luck.

Put screen britghness to 100% and open this http://www.net-tracker.net/android/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/black_bg_1024x768.png, make sure it covers the entire screen inc notifications part and then switch off your lights in your room and you will then see light bleed, Its nothing major and common on LCD'S but it is a valid reason for a return/exchange.
I had lightbleeding on my first note but I found it to be acceptable however on my 2nd tablet I found the bleeding to be excessive and off putting so I got a refund from John Lewis,

If your one is not creaking then this definitely should be a rightful exchange claim for all those unfortunate to pick up badly put together tablets.
I am even considering getting my money back and going the Apple way. Excellent build quality, and I know that because I got some for the kids.

Sorry for the question, but what is "idk" in your post?
Having a creaking case, would that get worse in terms of speading all around the tablet's trim?
Any experiences but no guesses please!

"IDK" means "I Dont Know".
I guess if the creaking was coming from say a loose glass to the digitizer i think it could be something that spreads. Since if the glass isn't glued down well enough i could see slight dust getting in there and causing more separation over time. I doubt this is the case as you'd see bubbling at the edges if that was happening.
Guys, over the past few days I have noticed at the foot of the screen in the centre there is a yellow line (approx 1 to 2mm thickness) appearing which looks very much like screen burn.
It can only be seen when a lighter colour is present but it is there no matter what you are looking at.
When watching movies it is horrendous as your eyes are constantly drawn to the yellow thick line.
Question being has anyone else noticed this?

Impossible to see if you do a screen grab. The grab would not show the screen burn.

No, it's nothing like a dead pixel.
It's more like a yellow stain that progressively gets darker the longer the screen is left on.
I contacted Clove who would send it back to LG for them to look at.
In the meantime if I change the Home a Touch Buttons to Black it covers up the Yellow stain whenever a screen uses the touch buttons.
It's when you are either looking at photos, watching movies or playing games where you don't have touch buttons displayed that you see it.

I have had this on devices in the past, its certainly a faulty screen.
Yes, I definitely agree on that.
Okay I should return it for repair but I would find it murder to be without the phone.
So far it is limited to the area of the touch buttons and like I mention if I change to black you then don't see it a lot of the time.
I'm seeing if I can live with it..........

Just as a warning, when I have had this on devices in the past it is something that gets worse over time, the yellow area will spread, its probably worthwhile getting it fixed now to avoid having it become a bigger problem in the future.
Have you spoke to clove yet? Surely they might just swap it out rather than force you to get a repair?

Yes I spoke with Clove and was quite surprised they would send it back for repair.
At the time I had had the G3 for 18 days.
As such seeing as being without the phone is going to be a nightmare and it's not spreading or getting worse for the time being, I'm mulling over my options.
Fortunately money is not a problem. If it gets that bad I would rather buy another and set up the new G3 in the presence of the faulty G3 then either give the faulty one away to a member of the family which I do with all of my phones and let them decide what to do....
I have the exact same problem. Found this thread googling for it. It's almost right in the bottom center. Looks yellowish and it's driving me nuts. I'll probably hold off exchanging for a while since I cannot afford to go without a phone and have no way to backup everything until someone unlocks the boot loader.

Well, if it's any help to you all I can tell you is it doesn't appear to get any worse.
Yes it's there and more prominant when it gets hotter but it doesn't appear to be spreading or going darker.

Yes, i was applying a screen protector i had lying around and as i was pushing air bubbles out i could feel and hear a loud click. I let google know and they sent me a new one which has the same problem, just not as pronounced.
I have the same exact problem. I have never pushed 'hard' on my screen. I have a replacement coming, also. I'll post a follow up.
Edit: To elaborate on how much force it took to generate this issue. I picked it up with my left hand in landscape mode and I heard it. That small amount of pressure.
Honestly I don't understand why this amounts to getting a replacement?
It's just a click, does it make the device unusable? No.

You seem quite the negative Nancy, here. Telling people that they're pushing too hard, then telling questioning getting an issue resolved. Is it unheard of that someone get device without any issues, even IF it's cosmetic. Never mind that it might be something that could cause issues later when not within warranty. In my case, I contacted support, simply to determine if it was normal/expected. They processed my RMA immediately, I hadn't even gotten to asking for one. Chill out.

Because there screen is physically popping in and out. No need to be a strong fanboy but even my moto e is built better and i would expect a jesus device called pixel will have higher quality specs. I received my replacement and its still present though not as strong. I believe this is a manufacturing issue and others will soon notice.

Chill out.

People here are invested in the device, not only financially but emotionally, as this person clearly is. Saying something is defective with the device is like saying something is defective with them. In this case, both points may be correct.

I think I've just fed a troll. iPhone.
Same problem, but google seem a bit clingy to send me a replacement, I am in UK. I've heard UK support is pretty bad compared to US.
I have the same problem. I also noticed that the gap between the metal edges and the glass is wide in certain spots, and I can see right down the gap. When I push down on the screen, I can see a little bit of discoloration occur due to pressure from behind the screen. The discoloring is on the lower left side of the screen (when tablet is held sideways). I'm afraid it's bumping into a component or something.
My screen makes a clicking noise when pushing it on the left half. I really dont mind this issue.
No discoloration of the screen btw.

Maybe it's an strange question. Did you try smelling near the tablet when you did this? I try it and a strong smell like glue or some cleaning product comes out from the tablet. Hopefully I'm not crazy and is not hazardous. Please try it. Thanks!!

I just recieved my Pixel C today and I've got quite a large amount of creaking, clicking and sticking sounds in the bottom left hand quadrant of the device when held in landscape mode and it heads towards the middle of the screen.
There seems to be quite a bit of room between the screen and the rest of the device even when pressing lightly on the screen. It's almost like the screen isn't adhered properly somewhere and there's a gap causing the screen to creak and pop.
The screen also goes weird like its pressing on a component in this bottom left hand corner.
None of the other parts of the screen exhibit this behaviour.
I requested a call back from google and the rep acknowledged the issue and said it was normal and pointed me to a YouTube video with a slight popping sound which sounded very minor compared to mine.
The YouTube video I was directed to was this one https://youtu.be/k7aH00QRq5A
I was surprised I had to push to get a replacement and it was only when I made the creaking and popping sounds over the phone the rep knew my device had a real problem.
Coming from a Nexus 7 2013 I expected much more than this with the Pixel C.
Anyway I've now got to go through the whole rma process and organise a courier to pick up the defective Pixel C.
I have to say that I'll be returning the replacement Pixel C if it exhibits the same problem which is a real shame as I was quite excited about this device.
I fixed it by repeatedly clicking like 30 times. It finally got stuck. Lol
Maybe it has something to do with the glue used.
As Hazzo31 mentions above I too smelt a chemical citrus type smell coming from the Pixel when I received it.
Anyway my RMA is in progress so we'll see how the next one goes.
Same clicking issue for me.
French support arguing that it is normal, not a problem, the tablet is working fine, no exchange possible.
I'm returning the tablet and i'll have to wait for 10 days to get the refund...
I find it unbelievable :
This is the most expensive android tablet. An high-end flag-ship device, designed & built & sold by Google.
Yes, the device is usable, but how can I be sure that the screen or the touch panel will not break in 13 months?
