KitKat or Lollipop for D851? - T-Mobile LG G3

Hi Guys,
Like to hear some inputs from users that went from KitKat to Lollipop, or vice versa.
From what I have read so far, KitKat seems to be the smoother ROM and some users have reported lag and performance issues with Lollipop?
What are the KitKat ROMs that are available? It seems most developers are moving onto Lollipop now?
Thanks much!

Personally, I don't have any problems w/ lag using LP (5.0.1) on a D851. There are a number of 4.4.x based ROMS for the G3 that can be found here...

Scroll down about 3/4 of the page to the "KitKat, Android 4.4x" section.

Do folks mostly use ROMs cooked specifically for the D851, or are the ones in the general G3 section considered fair game without compromises? I'm coming from the S4 which was picky about models/ROM matching...

You can only flash ROMs that are compatible w/ your phones model, for ex. D851, D852, D855, etc.

I have no problem with lollipop ? and like it more than kitkat. I've noticed with L I get more battery life and it's smoother. All the xposed mods that I've used on kitkat now work fine on L. I have no plans to go back to kitkat. Currently using cloudy rom

[Q] D852 and Custom ROMs

I have an offer through Kijiji to buy the Rogers LG G3 (D852). I am currently an owner of a Nexus 5. A lot of things about the G3 are very tempting for me especially in regards to camera and screen size with small bezels. However I also like trying out what third party development has to offer. After going through these forums most of what I see is simply for D855 and D850. So, a couple of questions:
1. Rooting and "unlocking" bootloader: Is Purpledrake compatible with the d852 and can the d852 be "bumped" to have TWRP?
2. Lollipop: I'm aware that LG G3 now has Lollipop but are any builds compatible with the d852?
3. "Stock Android": By this I mean "not LG's skin", is there any way to get stock android or anything similar (CM12/PA/etc.) onto the the LG G3? I plan to use LG's firmware for the most part but the option to load an AOSP rom would be nice.
4. Backwards compatibility with AT&T model: Would ROMs that are available for the D850 work with the D852 since both are similar hardware?
5. Debloating: After rooting, can the phone be debloated to increase performance? I'm assuming LG has added a fair share of bloated software onto the stock ROM.
I really want to own this phone (the Nexus 5 just has HORRENDOUS battery life and camera for me) but the only thing pushing me away is the lack of development, if these questions can be answered and I can at least be provided with some hope for the future I will definitely consider buying the G3, thank you for any help in advance!
1. You can root it with Stump root
2. At the moment no.
3. There is CM12 but for D855. Carbon and Mahdi are also for D855. For D852 there is no AOSP rom.
4. No, it is not compatible.
5. Of course it can.
My D852 is rooted with Purpledrake and also BUMPED with TWRP recovery.
In the General section, read the Canadian Users thread and there are some converted D855 ROMS for D852.
ROMS are slowly but surely gaining traction. [I think there's a bit of a pause now as devs have moved from KK roms and now working on Lollipop ROMS]

Compatibility Question.

I have noticed that when it comes to Stock based ROMs like @Cloudyfa CloudyG3 2.2 or @savergiggio SpArTaXx RoM there are not compatible the Verizon or Sprint variant. I and probably others would like to know what is the reason for these versions of the G3 not being compatible.

Cloudy-based Marshmallow ROMs?

As the title sort of explains, are we getting CloudyG3 based on MM? I hate AOSP on the G3 due to the horrible camera, and am running CloudyG3 v2.5, which is based on the aging 5.0_r2 (I believe).

maybe not since cloudy doesn't own the G3 anymore

This Dev picked up development and his Roms are based on Cloudy. Not sure if there will be a MM or not.

G3 model differences in regards to Rom capatibility?

Hey guys, I've been looking for something to upgrade to from my old e970, and I've had nothing but great experiences with LG phones. I have a question regarding the different model's of this phone, and potential development limitations. I would be getting the D851 (Tmo variant) and wondering if there are compatibility issues among the roms? For example, in original development, official CM13 is listed for d855, does that mean there's no way I wouldn't be able to use it on a D851? I understand for my e970 if I use an international variant rom I'd lose camera and sd card support.
Thanks!
You can only use D851 roms in that instance. That is the reason why D851, D852, D855 etc. have separate forum categories for rom developments.
Flashing rom that is intended for other model than your phone causes it to brick or boot loop (I'm not sure what of those two since I've never done that)

Thanks! I found the seperate forum for the D851 and CM13 does have an official version. This should make building other roms much simpler. Thank you again!

Custom ROM for Galaxy S5 G900T - Are older Lollipop 5.0 based ROMs still available?

I'm new to flashing ROMs... originally rooted my S5 in 2016, but am just now getting around to flashing a rom. My phone runs on Lollipop 5.0. I'm concerned that the hardware will no well support ROMs based on Android 10, 11 & 12 - which is what I'm seeing everywhere.
1. If I flash the newer versions on LineageOS, will they work correctly on my phone?
2. Can I still use ROMs based on Lollipop 5.0 - If so, where can I find them?
Thanks!
