This is pretty weird but any barcode scanner I use on the 5x inverts the camera. Meaning if I move left, it moves right. My regular camera works fine. Has occurred on shopsavvy and barcode scanner. Anyone else?
The same thing is happening with my banking app when I try to deposit a check

I don't know about barcode scanners but I tried using A Better Camera as my camera app and it also inverts everything, photos and videos are saved upside-down (rotated 180 degrees).
Appears to be the apps' implementation of the Camera 1 API, not considering its installed orientation. I don't imagine Google will fix this themselves, and instead rely on the app devs to update their code.
It would have been a lot easier if they just installed the camera in the same orientation that everyone else does :|

Hey guys,
So who's given the G3's camera a run using Google's Camera app? I've tried it several times alongside the native camera app, and I realize that Google's Camera app doesn't seem to work as great as the native app.
It seems the laser assist autofocus does not work on Google Camera, since it takes a second or so for the camera to focus, instead of a few milliseconds with the native app.
HDR on Google Camera does not work as intended, either resulting in an image looking like normally shot or even at times darker.
Video recording using Google Camera app is limited to 1080p instead of 4K.
There is one thing positive with the Google Camera app though, and that it has a larger field of view compared to the native camera app. The Google Camera app almost makes it seem that the native camera app is zoomed a few times closer than it should be. I'll try to take a comparison shot to show you guys what I mean, but you can simply download the app and try it yourself
Next, I will try how the camera works with CameraZoom FX app.
Well that was expecting since I believe lg made things to work with stock...but let us know which third party works best!
I use the Google app for photosphere and lens blur.

Coming from an N5, I quickly got the Google Camera after getting my G3, but then realized the only reason I liked the Google Camera was because I shot everything with HDR+. I do miss that feature from the N5, since the G3 does not a good job at white balance in some lights, and HDR+ would always get me great looking photos, but could only shoot static targets and would take a while to shoot.
I also tried VSCO Cam and it doesn't offer much when it comes to camera settings, so things end up looking almost the same as stock, but with the slower focus like you mentioned.
Did someone come up with a way to change the way the stock camera oversharpens low light photos? It's pretty bad.
Has anyone tried LG Camera on the G3?

I only installed the Google Camera for photosphere. There really isn't any other reason to.
Also, I think the stock LG camera does have a lens blur effect.

HI everybody,
K this camera apk was pulled from the MIUI rom port while doing extensive testing of the rom it's self just to see how the rom did. While doing this I noted with the camera all issues we have on the cm and nexus based roms are non existent on the MIUI camera, but the camera does have issues.
1. It has two issues one when it takes a photo's with the rear facing camera it saves it upside down for some reason
2. second issue i found is when you go to the front facing camera it glitches in the transition and you half to close it out and restart and then it'll be on the front facing camera and you half to do the same to get back to the rear facing camera NOTE: the front facing camera does not flip the image
Now initially I thought this might of been the miui rom its self so I grabbed the camera apk and jumped to the Nexus rom and IT WORKS. I currently use this camera as my daily driver despite its issues and even though I have purchased the Snap Camera, I just prefer the MIUI camera...
I would note I ran a search on the camera apk files name and found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/find-7/development/mod-oppocamera-settings-timer-scene-t3003030 I tried the zips they have and they don't seem to work on our phone.
Also I did not know who to credit for this. I'm sorry for that; if some one know's who pm me or comment. Thanks
personally i find 'BlueCam' delivers better photos than the MIUI, the only features that don't work is manual focus but the auto focus does a fine job and it has torch mode to take care of night photos which gets over the flash problem, its also free on the app store.

true that, I'm thinking it should be very possible for an app to utilize an existing camera app to take the picture and then parse it, if background elements are an issue a crop tool can be built it. I'll look into it after this coming week and see if i can come up with something. Won't be perfect but it'll be better than nothing

Regarding barcode scanning... it is not as seemless as barcode scanner or google goggles, but I had good success with QR droid which can use an existing picture to read a barcode.

That's what I'm getting at, if its possible to read from an image then it should be possible to have your camera take a snap shot, save it has an ordinary image and then have an app interpret it. At least in theory, I don't know how feasable it is yet
I use this camera app from f-droid app store its free and open source and also works well with flash
https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdfilter=camera&fdid=com.simplemobiletools.camera
Tried it with latest lineage os by ggow. Focus is fast and pictures are coming up great. There is no manual controls but this app is better than stock or Google camera app in my opinion anyway. Camera button also works to activate this app and to take snaps with. Developer also has gallery app in f-droid if you want to give it a spin.

The camera from F-droid is very limited and it does not work with flash. It works in a sense that flash can be permanently turned on and used as a light. The oppo camera however seems to work correctly. The only problem I encountered is switching between front and rear camera. Seems like usable camera to use when you need flash support. Otherwise open camera app is good and full featured app.

I find oppo camera good but pictures for not known reason turn out upside down - I really don't fancy switching them back manually.
Another good app is camera HDR. As mentioned in CyanogenMod description it just work well.
thanks. really nice. flash light photos works fine.
Hi,
I've been trying a few camera apps. I'm using the A2 camera module (magisk), GCam_mod (R5Plus_fix_crash), CameraMX app, CameraZoomFX app and OpenCamera app (from FDroid). And I could only use the geotagging feature with the Open Camera app. The other 4 apps didn't geotag any photo. I must say I have google services disabled, I don't know if they heavily rely on them. All other location apps work just fine.
I tried leaving the app open for quite a while. Tried shooting with split screen (not the first two) with an app that uses location (satstat or maps) after it fine locates me. No luck. Only OpenCamera is able to use the phone location to tag the photos.
Is anyone else experiencing a similar issue?
Note 10+ works with facebook 3d photo by using live focus mode.
However, it doesn't work with front camera, only works with rear cameras. Not sure why.

Maybe because Facebook 3D photo uses TOF sensor which is only on the back of N10+, it can only use rear camera?

So it doesn't work on Note 10?
I have no idea, never used Facebook 3D photo, but whole idea of 3D is to get depth data and TOF sensor is the one providing it, which Note 10 doesn't have. There is a way to take large number of pictures from all directions, analyze all the data, estimate the depth and therefore create 3D view without TOF, but it's prone to errors and distortions, so maybe they use this method. Actually I'm not very happy with Samsung 3D scanner, since they eliminated scan of people in latest update, so I was planning to test third party apps over the weekend if I get some free time and now Facebook 3D is on my list of apps to test, if you want I can post what I find and figure how it works. All I need is another digital camera, where I can see if TOF sensor is used and sends IR signal during scan.
Photos etc is fine, and i cleared camera app cache but still like this. When i launch Video sheet in camera app, picture are crooked, and its not focus straight and if i move phone picture flip upsidedown. I cant find any settings like that.

I think there's an issue with the stabilisation on your camera! may be clear data/cache on the camera app? if it's the same, I recommend you to take the phone for a check

Like i say, others camera apps works just fine, even gcam with ois. cleared data & cache dont fix this problem for stock app
Heh, found some "bugs" for this.
If i have video options 1080p, 30fps/60fps, display is crooked and picture jumps upsidedown all the time.
If i set 4K, 30fps, crooked is gone but picture still jumps upsidedonw. Same as 4K, 60fps
If i set 4K, 120fps all is just fine, no crooked and no jumps
8K, 30fps trying jumps upsidedown but only move little and then came normal
Crap video, but i think point is there:
