Did cellular data work for you before the re-provisioning? I am 0 for 3 and will take my phone into the store for the fourth attempt.

You shouldn't have to change the APN, but some have experienced this, in which case you can add the apn "ptn" to your settings and give the phone a restart. Should work after that.
My VVM on my lumia 900 is great! Just called voicemail and went into setup. After I hung up, the voicemail tab installed automatically.

Thanks for the tip! I just set it up with Youmail and installed MagikMail Lite. It works great. Now with Google Voice (for SMS) and now Youmail, I am almost untethered from AT&T featured services .
Cheers

Magicmail was buggy for me. Plus the AT&T VVM you can listen to on speaker or your earpiece.
The other nice thing about the native VVM is that you get lock screen notifications of pending messages.

I'm assuming this is AT&T?
We can't get visual voicemail with Rogers as far as I know.
Plus, I think VVM would have a hard chance to beat my current voicemail system. (Exchange UM)

Since AT&T is mentioned like three times in this thread I assume it's safe to say they're talking about AT&T.
Though Exchange UM is nice, there's something to be said about VVM integrated at the phone level with the phone. I preferred iPhone VVM over Exchange UM.
Speaking with Rogers - no one has said to me that it isn't available, though we've tried a few times to get it to work with no success. It's possible they may not know how/ have the proper plans to enable it. I recently got the "Specialty Smart Phone" value pack put on the phone which contains VVM, but that didn't get it working either. We'll see whether or not I can get it working properly, and if not there's always MagikMail.
I called Rogers Tech Support for VVM and they could not help either .. said its not available on Lumia 900
Thnx for tip

v 0.4.2.72 is the older version and still should be using your Data Plan. For those of us on unlimited data... this is preferable. Yes, I have a backup copy.

This is actually good for me. I am on a limited Data plan and never come close to using my voice minutes.
No, they apparently changed more than that too.. The app I've been collaborating with a Dev on, Messaging + Google Voice, is kinda jacked up now with the new update. They did something to block 3rd party notifications, as far as we can tell. It works fine on. 72 tho.
Here's. 4.2.72 if anyone wants it (original)

It's ALWAYS used plan minutes. I don't understand what you guys are talking about. The only way you didn't is if you made calls over data/Wifi using GrooveIP or some VoIP app that used your Voice number.

The update said overseas calls always did. As of this update, US calls will join that. They have rewritten the update description since the forums started talking about it.

It uses minutes. It always has. I'm telling you. It uses your carrier's minutes, not Google Voice minutes. The My T-Mobile app tells me how many minutes I've used and it always goes down when I make calls through my Voice number (which is my primary number). I have the Voice app set to "Make All Calls Through Voice."
It has ALWAYS used your plan minutes. You guys just don't understand how it works.
Your phone calls Google using your carrier-assigned number ----> Google picks up and connects your call to whoever you actually dialed ("John") ----> John gets the call and sees your Voice number

I can confirm that Google Voice has always used minutes, unless setup through an application like GrooveIP. I'm not sure where you guys are getting that it didn't use minutes before...
I didn't say I believe GV doesn't or hasn't used carrier mins, just that I have come across pieces of info that say one thing, and others that say another.
I understand GV uses carrier mins.
However, I am not clear whether it uses carrier mins when connected to a WiFi LAN.

Only one making sense here. They are legally barred from doing that. One has to use grooveip to make voip calls.

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone knew if the unlocked version of the HTC 10 will still work with AT&T visual voicemail? I had to get the AT&T branded M8 and M9 in order for VVM to work being the AT&T version had voice mail integrated in to the dialer. Now that they don't offer their version I'm wondering if VVM can still be used?
That's a good question. I ran into this years ago and have since moved to Google voice. I haven't looked back and I really like it. Not sure if you're interested in that, but at least it's an option if you can't get AT&T VVM to work.

Google Voice is pretty old now and no longer being supported for most areas. Last time I tried there were very few phone numbers available.
That being said, I'm a longtime user and it's a superior service for voicemail and call control.

Not to harp here but these settings are like little easter eggs when you get a new phone. It's all part of the ritual. You should go walk about on the entire interface, settings, sub menus etc. Even if that sounds annoying to you, do it and enjoy because in three weeks, it's just your phone and loses its gas like any other toy.

Is there one that works with our S20 Ultra?
I tried loading the one from the S10 and it doesn't open, just shows not supported when trying to open.
TMO VVM app is utter garbage and Verizon's isn't available for unlocked phones. Not interested in third party VM services.
This is one thing (besides imessage) I miss from iOS. Baked in visual voice mail support. I wish they'd add it to Android.
I use the one from the Galaxy Store on my Ultra, and it works just fine (Verizon MVNO).

Something weird is going on.
I can't access this app anywhere.
Yet it is installed on the phone!
I can ONLY see it from CCSWE App manager. It has not been disabled or removed.
I use Nova and it has not been hidden from the app drawer as well.
I inserted a Verizon SIM and restarted the phone thinking that it may show up.
Nope.
I really don't want to reset the damn thing and start all over again or it may wind up sitting on the shelf next to the other phones...

When I flashed the unlocked firmware to my ultra it didn't show in the app drawer but shoed in the app list. Once I signed into the galaxy store with Samsung account there was an update for visual voicemail showing. After it applied the app was visible in the app drawer and works fine now.

For TMO users I've been reading that the number must have a DIGITS line associated with it. To do this you MUST put your TMO SIM in an actual TMO device that has a recognized IMEI. Then it can be registered. The second part (and the dealbreaker for me) is you MUST flash the TMO rom to your device. There's no way I'm doing that. If I wanted a TMO device and all their associated third world like garbage, I would have bought their crappy phone!
I'd rather succumb to using youmail OR even just dialing voice mail like in the old days.
Everything else TMO works fine, their fake 5G BS, wifi calling, et al.
TBH I'm making a mountain out of a molehill at this point, because, personally I use my device as a CELLPHONE maybe 5% of the time? And that may be generous.
But what gets under my skin is I paid more than a top of the line iphone and still seemingly get the fragmented, beta-like experience.
Put the u1 firmware on phone last night and then used the Samsung vvm from the note 10 thread around here and kept getting unsupported... when I went into the galaxy store the update was there but kept failing to install. I deleted the one from the note 10 I installed and it updated the preloaded app and now it works.
