Installing Apps & Games to OTG 64GB Flashdrive? - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

I have only the 16GB version of the Nexus 7 2013 Wi-Fi and internal storage is at a premium. Is there an Android app or at least an effective tutorial that shows me how to install apps and games to a 64GB OTG flashdrive and run them from it? Thanks in advance for any help.

Internal SD full - how to install the games to the external SD instead?

I bought GTA3, NFS:MW and Max Payne today and immediately after installing I noticed that my internal storage is nearly full. I have a 32gb external micro sd and I would prefer to install heavy games on it instead.
What are my options?
I use directory bind.

Make sure your external card is fast enough. Example class 10 or U1.

I already moved my 2GB games, such as Asphalt 7 and N.O.V.A 3 to my 32GB external sd card.
Just do that: Apps + My Files + All Files + external sd card + create here folder 'Games'.
Then, push 'back' button + sd card + find 'Android' folder + choose those heavy files + move them to external sd card ('Games' folder).

[Q] Nexus OTG solution in Non rooted device

Hi friends,
As the thread states I just bought Nexus 7 2013 for watching Educational videos on it.
On Budget Constraint I purchased 16Gb wifi version with USB OTG in mind.
But I was disappointed to see that it doesn't have native OTG support.
I downloaded Nexus Media Importer which doesn't work too.
I don't wanna root the tab.
Please advise.
Thanks in Advance.
Have a look at this thread:

Theres a plugin that works with the file manager Total Commander here that will read and write USB fine without needing root.
I use it myself....

External Storage Support?

Hi Everyone,
Does anyone no if Amazon has enabled support for external storage yet? I like my player but this has been a serious downfall to my regular usage of this product. Or does anyone have a idea when this may be addressed??
Desperate...LOL
No official support from amazon but can be accomplished on rooted boxes using things like Stickmount, Foldermount, and Links2SD depending on what you need the external for.

Yes
Fast enough
I use a 1 TB conventional drive and an usb adapter.
Getting MM to allow apps to see it is another matter.
See my posts

Hi thanks for the reply, and what's the app you are using to transfer files? I use ES explorer which is slow transferring files at 1.1mbps. the default file manager app by Moto is not detecting the USB.
Does the transfer speed depend on the quality of the cable used.?

Solid Eplorer (new) for all copying and such.
FX commander for opening music 1 file at a time.
Which ver of ES reads OTG?
The filer in the app drawer will not.
The one in storage will but not to launch music.
If you have USB-c to A OTG short cable it should be fast. But if you have an adapter in-between then slower.

Hi, I am using the latest version of ES available in play store.
And data transfer from pendrive to internal/SD card is faster 8mbps approx, but internal to pendrive is slower at 1.1Mbps.
I don't use any adapters too. Only a straight OTG c type cable.

Dinesh

Any way to get a list of file managers that may or may not be compatible with OTG?
What about the Motorola/Lenovo file manager? Doubt it'd be a stock app, but available in the Play Store. Been using it to transfer files between internal storage and microSD, and it's been really fast. Would hope that it'd support OTG.

I may be that different adapters allow different apps to work. I cannot get ES to work at all. Solid (not classic) and FX Commander are the best for me. A few others, X-plore, B1 file Manager, Sandisk memory zone and File Manager + work must make copies so are useless for playing large music files.

How to move games to external USB on Sony Android TV

Just got myself a Sony kd75xg8796bu which has Android TV and decided would install some games on it .. which worked for Asphalt 8 .. but then realised that there is not that much space available (8gb'ish ) ... so I have added a 64Gb USB drive, which it sees and allowed me to format .. so far so good
So, my next thing I wanted to do was move the Asphalt 8 Game across to this drive, however ... even though it shows that the game is 1.2Gb in size, it only shows 143Mb on teh USB drive, and now am left with hardly any free space on the internal
Looking around the web, it seems that you should be able to move, but I don't seem to be able to .. any ideas?
I also have added in sony android tv a 64gb usb stick as internal. It formated and I see it in settings as 64gb. But i move an app there 10mb, and it show me 2giga free in the usb..? How can it be? Any idea? I should have almost 64 giga free not 2..
