I've tried modifying SystemUI.apk, got black wallpaper, no status & nav bar on startup
What I've tried :
compiling with apktool, signing, zipaligned
updating original apk with compiled resources at store(0%) compression level
I've tried all xposed modules relevant, nothing works the way I want
I want a simple solid colored status & nav bar
Any other thing you can suggest that I should try or any other way to accomplish this?
Edit: micromax MTK device running Kitkat
Thanks,

I wanted to get a transparent status bar because atm mine is just black and ugly.
So Iv read around places and it says I need to all sorts of complicated stuff with the Systemui.apk.
I was hoping someone who already has a transparent status bar could upload their systemui.apk so I can simply copy it into my phone
Thanks
im pretty sure you cant do crap with it unless the bootloader is unlocked lol. if it just install doomlords kernal and cm7 and just use a theme
You only need to be rooted. Because there are many options on tweaking the status bar to your personal taste, I suggest the UOT Kitchen. It is an online tool for themeing and for the status bar, you upload from your original systemui.apk and framework-res.apk, make changes and it will spit out a new systemui.apk for you to install.

I'm trying to theme for the first time on 4.0.3 AOKP rom I just flashed and I've ran into a few snags. I'm using apk manager to decompile / compile / install.
1. I'm trying to change the color of the overall font in the rom and I've followed many tutorials that half-describe how to do so and haven't had any luck. For example when trying to change the color of the date displayed in the notification drop down by editing /values/styles.xml and adding my hex color code in the Date part of the file by replacing the @android/holo blue blah blah and it doesn't change the color after I recompile and reinstall to my phone. I don't even know where to begin for the rest of the system font coloring.
2. Changing the color of sliders and toggle switches I thought would be as simple as editing the images from drawable-xhdpi before recompiling. I did this for framework-res.apk (not sure if that was the right apk to edit for this) but I did and find the images I was looking to edit and all I did was change the hue values and save and replace stock images before compiling and I installed it on my phone and when it booted up the sliders and toggles were still blue.
Can someone explain to me what I'm doing wrong? I have a feeling I'm going about this the wrong way. Thanks.
I'm not expert. In fact you probably know more about this than me but my guess is that the AOKP elements are not being colored via the usual XML files. My guess is there is custom compiled code for the modifiable elements that exist in AOKP. I've been trying to find the where the source code is for the notification toggles so that I can find a way to port them to a 4.0.4 ROM but since I have no idea where I'm going and I don't know Java its like a needle in a hay stack.
anyway just thought I would put my guess out there. If anyone can shed more light on this situation then it would be helpful for i'm sure quite a few people.
I decompiled SystemUI.apk from PA 2.5 to be able to apply my PNG as the background of the navigation bar on Tablet Mode. I changed all the notification_panel_bg.9.png but with no resolve is always black . can anyone help ?
Hi, I like to have a normal battery text near the icon (or just text without icon, I don't need it), but in the 4.4.2 stock update sony changed the classic text+icon layout to a all-in-one text in icon. I tried all the methods to change the battery from systemUI, but noone worked. Also some xposed modules that could change the icons in the status bar, like gravitybox KK, xblast tools and many others, didn't work, the battery icon didn't change.
Do you know any method to replace it? Just like CM11, where it's easier select "text" in battery indicator style. I'm using RomAur 3 rom.
Thanks in advance!

You should notice that the xml file names are different so you need to edit them accordingly.
I am finding that of all the modules I have tried most settings do nothing to change the phone. I have tried Gravitybox, XBlaster even Wanam & Lp.
Wanam seems to work the best . I managed to get the header panel & the pull down settings menu to change to ...well....... some what of what I want it to look like. I also managed to get the clock up to the left of the status bar, but thats all.
Lp themer allowed me to change the top panel color. (which is what I wanted). It's a small but works.
Gravitybox let me put a nav bar in . That's all.
Xblaster let me color settings icons , That's all.
I don't know but maybe the modules work more thoroughly when you have fully unlocked bootloader. Maybe they need to work alone not with other settings.
If that's the case I wouldn't need xposed any way I could just install a Rom & be done.
I like the ideas & praise the developers .
Samsung S4 I545 de-odexed & rooted
Have you restarted your phone each time you tried to change any settings? Also, try deleting and redownloading, that worked for me whenever my modules weren't working.
Not all those modules will work if you have a TW rom on your S4. For instance, GravityBox is more for AOSP/CM roms. The only thing you can use is wanam or some of the others that say they specifically target Samsung phones.
mate, just use Flat style bar
