After the upgrade, my contacts are constantly unavailable, not temporarily as the watch shows!
How to fix this?
No one can help? None of you guys has the same problem?
Do you have your contacts synced with your Google account?

Hi folks,
I could not manage my contacts between my device, my google contacts and my google+ account in a proper way such as merging the duplicates and showing/hiding the contacts that I want.
Serously.. Google should simplify it with couple of clicks only!!!
Hi !
I'm sorry but i don't understand so much what's the problem with the contact management ?
You can't merged them together or that's not sync with your others devices ?
When I signed up in Google+, Google+ created a new list in Google Contacts. It shows an option to merge my Google Plus contacts with my current contacts, I clicked yes! Guess what? I got merged contacts but with duplications!! So I decided to clean up the mess, Google didn't implement any unmerege option. WTH, also it messes my contacts in my phone.
So I need now to delete the contacts and build up the contacts again from scratsh.
I will try to export the contacts, fix them. Then, import them to Google Contacts again.
I believe you can unmerge them via google+ settings in the app itself or via setting-accounts and sync. Tap on your gmail account and uncheck sync google+

Woaw, indeed, that's strange =/
Very strange !
And if you try to work directly (for this time only to clean up) on the web version, to use the "find & merge the duplicates" ? And/Or use the backup into the Contact too
I didn't have the problem when G+ was implemented into Gmail =/ it's weird that's happen
You can Join & Unjoin contacts in the People app.
you can edit your google contacts by visiting
google.com/contacts
this helps out by cleaning up duplicates and is easier than just doing over the phone.

Problem is the sync is one way, from gmail to android, not from Android to gmail. If I have a phone number on Android it doesnt show up on gmail. Why oh why?
I don't know... I've honestly never had any of these issues. My contacts work perfect.

Man that would make life so easy, I had to do this to bring my phone numbers to gmail:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1417215
SO I take it any contact as long as it is not facebook and skype or whatsapp or twitter will sync with gmail contacts.
i also noticed contacts are a bit difficult, i almost lost all my contacts..
but i just leave them as they are and sometimes see i do need to adjust or merge one, but i aint touching them anymore.
Google COnTACTS has option : click MORE an then RESTORE CONTACTS
A menu opens where you can choose time to restore to (1 h ago, a day ago...)
On my phone, I had all my contacts saved under [email protected] (my university email runs on gmail system) google account althought i never had any success syncing them from my phone.
Just now I deleted that google account on the phone forgetting the fact all my phone numbers were there. Obviously I cant get em back from my google account since there was never a successful sync.
Can anyone tell me how I can get back my contacts?
Thanks

It never synced with the mail system. So basically I'm asking whether I can recover it from within the phone instead of syncing
Export your contacts to another Gmail account, log in with that and sync - job done!
If they didn't sync to an account your SOL. Sorry.

If you can access your uni mail in the Google Apps interface, maybe you can export your contacts there into .csv or .vcf. So you can import them in your main Google account or just locally on the phone via 3rd party Android app that imports contacts.
I noticed today under the Google sync account, system setting - account & sync - Google - your Google account, there are two new options.
App data and people details. Any idea what these are for exactly and why I need to sync them?
Thanks.
Also, is there a fix for the contacts sync erroring out?

Google's making a lot of changes right now, as they often do around their annual I/O conference. The new Play store will sync app data (settings, data, etc.) and eventually game saves. People is not real clear yet, but I think it will have something to do with more unified messaging and contacts services (i.e. Hangouts and the recent online consolidation of contact management).

I remember I had this problem with the N5 and once they updated the exchange services app it worked fine. But I'm having issues sending and receiving emails from my hotmail account with the 5X. No issues with gmail

So are you saying you have to have the outlook app installed for it to work properly in Gmail? I setup email acct in Gmail by choosing "add account" then go from there. Yes it is exchange. Regular [email protected] account.
I still have issues, Google/Gmail is the issue unfortunately. I tried the Outlook app.... and it is HORRID/AWFUL .
The issue can be seen here
hi champs,
Please help me. I delete contacts on my phone and they keep coming back.
I have the contacts saved on and sync with google account just so that u dont loose them if something happens with the phone. If i switch the sync off and then future xontacts wont be uploaded in google.
Please suggest a good fix.
Thanks
Do you have any other accounts that you are logged into that sync contacts like Microsoft or Samsung? Check under settings accounts and sync and only enable contact sync for Google
