Question regarding Roms - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note5

I live in the UK and bought the SM-N920A UD which is the AT&T version
What I'd like to know is once Samsung release updated roms for the Note 5 could I flash a different rom onto the phone?
IE SM-920A, B, C etc Obviously a genuine Samung untouched rom - would this work? and would I then be able to root it?

no and no and you would only get updates if you can connect to att network

I'm not worried about over the air updates, I meant can I download a rom from the SamMobile page and install it using Odin
or is the hardware different on the various versions of Note 5

Flashing a new rom using Odin, will this not replace the bootloader?

International NON-Rooted on AT&T

Ok so I like playing around as much as the next guy but is there a way to Odin a STOCK international ROM thats not rooted and make it just think its a international phone that will still work on AT&T s network with LTE. My Galaxy Nexus was pretty much that without the LTE

I think he wants to know if a pure factory Samsung kies released ROM for the N7015 will work... as opposed to one here we have removed kernel, modem plus rooted and added busy-box.

If that the case, then no. Flashing international firmware onto the i317, and then un-rooting it for the sake of obtaining official Samsung update via Kies is just a bad idea. Assuming it works in the first place, Kies will (sometimes) overwrite the kernel, and if that happens, you could at least have no working radios, or worst case scenario, soft brick. If you have an i317, and you want the international firmware on it, you're better off just following the instructions laid out in the dev section.

[Q] SGH-I747 Stuck @ Android 4.1.1

LS,
I have an unlocked AT&T Galaxy S3 (I747) and according to Kies, OS 4.1.1 is the latest firmware. However the international factory unlocked version (I9300) is 4.1.2.
Is there a way I can still ungrade to a new OS without getting my phone LOCKED back...?
FYI: I cannot do OTA as the phone looks for aupdates on AT&T server.

NOPE, just install custom stock touchwiz with the latest 4.1.2 update or go with odin and install stock firmware from samsung
plus kies is not always right and the international versions are always first to be updated/upgraded to the latest OS before the American (US) versions
If I use "OTAUpdater-1.0.5.apk" from OTA Update Center, will I be able to update the firmsware WITHOUT getting the device LOCKED back...?

In short if you have your phone rooted with custom recovery then you can flash the custom stock rom that is tweaked and less bloated or you can go with stock firmware from samsung and use odin to install it on your phone
I have a SGS 3 Dandroid 4.7 STOCK ROOTED DEBLOATED with KT747 kernel and am unlocked running on T-Mobile and its an at&t phone but its unlocked
Anywz you have it unlocked it can be locked unless by career but that won't happen, the point is yu unlock its unlocked forever , nothing can lock it back even if its going back to stock firmware, upgrading OS, flashing custom roms/kernels or switching carrier nothing will lock it, there nothing that affects your unlocked phone
JUST DONT EVEr I MEAN DONT EVER FLASH A ROM THAT IS NOT FOR THE Samsung Galaxy S3 At&T I747, but if the Dev says so then you can
For clearance it has to either from T-Mobile rom or a universal ROM for all carriers in the US
Sigh now go on and flash that B*tch
Thanks winosxbuntu for your prompt reply.
Basically, I dont know anything about this unit because I bought unlocked from the US, so I dont know which ROM was used. Can I still check that...?
I installed OTA Update Center [OTAUpdater-1.0.5.apk] but it doesnt work; I get a ROM error.
FYI: I dont have any mobile OS background knowledge, so i was relying on KIES.

yes just go to settings-about then you will find everything you need to know about your phone's rom, OS version, and more info
how did you end up in XDA if you dont know any mobile OS knowledge, if you are an average user its okay, but people tend to come to XDA for more knowledge about rooting their smartphones, anywz yu came to the right place, OS like Android is not hard to learn, same thing with "IOS" Apple OS (operating system) and windows phone 8/7 "Microsoft Mobile OS" and blackberry's, palm, windows mobile, symbian there is so much that i cant explain on this thread if you need more info, google it or follow this thread for root/your phone and more info in depth if that helps http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1725839

Mobile Network Not Availible

Hey Guys
I was using a rooted Note II having 4.1.2 then i decided to run a custom rom which was having Android 4.4.4 and it worked perfectly then i decided to change to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (4.4.2) offical firmware and installed that using the sammobile uk version and using odin.
When it was installed i couldnt call nor i could send any messages but the mobile is detecting the Sim Card but having no signals on it, It is detecting the numbers of the sim and also the 3g Internet is working.
I saw on many threads people were complaining regarding no IMEI but my IMEI i think is the correct one, I have attached the screens of the status below.
Thanks

You've probably flashed incorrect rom.
But since you haven't bothered leaving relevant info like what model your phone is and specifically which rom file you flashed nobody can be sure.

I downloaded the original one from the sammobile sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=32635 and installed it via odin and IMEI i think is correct and it didnt show signals so i rooted it but it still didnt work, Then getting pissed off i installed clockworkmod on it that is compatible on my device and then i rooted again with a custom rom but now it wont work on the custom rom too. In other words it down grading it from an upgraded custom rom to the original rom messed up some files and now i cant call nor message anyone

AT&T Galaxy Note 4 N910A 5.1.1 Root for CM?

Hey,
Still a bit of a noob to the whole rooting process and navigating XDA forums, so I'm having trouble finding the information *I think* I should be looking for. Basically, my phone's just begun crashing periodically, multiple times a day: anything from Camera, Process System, Touchwiz Home Launcher, or Samsung Apps have "stopped working" / "not responding" before. Of course, my phone's warranty has expired, but my contract isn't up so an AT&T Store wont re-image it for me :crying:
Even I can tell, at this point, that it's either my OS that's failing, or it's my hardware. I figured the easiest way to test this would be to put some stable CyanogenMod on it.
The information I'm looking for is: "is this possible?"
AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 4
SM N910A UCU2DOI2
Currently @ 5.1.1
Thanks for reading,
~Vita.
No it is NOT possible to use any form of custom firmware or to root this device. It has a locked bootloader that has yet to be cracked open and the future of that happening os very bleak to non existant.
As for reimaging the device go to the note 4 at&t general section on the forum and read up on using odin and the 5.1.1 image posted there it will wipe the phone and format yhe system and data partitions and reinstall it like a new phone just like at&t would do or the manufacturer if you sent it to them.
Good luck
Thanks for the response.
Sorry for the dumb question, but isn't Odin able to flash any firmware onto a device? The "locked bootloader" means that only the stock OS may be reinstalled? Why is this...
Also, it seems unlock progress is being made on the N910V. Maybe hope?
Thanks for mentioning Odin, I'll try re-imaging the phone.

Well the problem is the kernel the bootloader prevents the devs from using an unsecure kernel (one not created and signed by at&t) on the phone if one is used the phone stops boot and says it is an unsecure non at&t kernel and to take thenphone to at&t store.
Odin can only write the firmware versiom that is currently on this phone in this case it is 5.1.1 if you flash any other note 4 versoin such as 4.2.2 it will brick.
Sm-910a flash example
Update ver Official at&t 5.1.1 / currently on phone 5.0.1 or 5.1.1 = good
Update ver (downgrade)oficcial at&t 4.2.2 / currently on phone 5.0.1 or 5.1.1 = brick not good or odin fail
Update from another carrier such as tmobile or verizon for 910t 910v 910g = fail (do not attempt)
Until oir boot loader is unlocked there is nothing we can do to mod or use custom firmware on this phone any attempt leads to a brick requiring using odin to re-flash the latest firmware (5.1.1 at this time) in order to make the phone functional again.

So from what I understand, I could use Odin to flash the 4 files which correspond to the specific AT&T 5.1.1 SM-901A version of my phone (which is exactly what I have) to re-image the device and make it functional again. The problem is, I cannot find these devices on sammobile D:
Could someone direct me to these files? Or are they not out because AT&T sucks? Or, what.

I am sure that you are referring to a sim unlock. A sim unlock and unlocked bootloader are two completely different entities. To flash a custom rom you will need to have your bootloader unlocked, which is something that a few of us are currently working on. Until then, no custom roms can be flashed on the att variant Note 4s. Take care

Question Switched from Verizon to T-Mobile -- Firmware Question

Long story short -- I originally got a Verizon Z Fold4 from Best Buy a few months ago but switched carriers to T-Mobile this morning. My Z Fold4 has the latest firmware from Verizon (still have all the Verizon bloat and Verizon boot screen), and I was wondering if there was a way to force it to download/install the latest T-Mobile firmware instead.
I have the latest T-Mobile firmware .zip (BVK3) from Sammobile but haven't been able to figure out if there's a way to install it.

Just a question beforehand.. Is your unit unlocked (that way it can work with your new carrier)?
Switching from one carrier to another in terms of firmware is a simple process, Patched ODIN and get the firmware for TMO from SAMMOBILE for example and follow the instructions, try not to do a dirty flash (not wiping) to ensure better results.

On a device that's been network unlocked, when you insert a different carrier's SIM, you should get a popup box prompting you to "restart and switch" to apply the new carrier's configuration. If you don't get that popup, then there are other ways to force the change, but it requires professional software
