Hey guys, I recently transferred my photos from phone storage to sd card now it is not showing in my gallery. I am pretty certain I found the answer somewhere on here before but I can't find it anymore.
1. The pictures are there in my sd card I can view it in my a file explorer, but it does not show in "gallery"
2. I tried clearing data for gallery and media. I also tried force closing them, still a no go.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks!
You can always go to your DCIM (or DCMI i really forget) -> media ->whatevs folder you got and put your photos there. Some of my photos don't appear in the stock htc gallery either. Must be directory thing. I just use google photos but DCIM is the main directory so it should work.

Yeah I've done that before, but I remember the was a really simple solution. I think I came across it in one of the rom threads a few months ago, but can't remember.
Aside from restarting the phone there's always this.

Clear the cache with an app like sdmaid.. It is probably retaining old links etc
I wish I stole my HTC M9.
Is there a ".nomedia" file hidden in the folder that contains your pictures? If yes your problems should be solved if you delete it.

How do you make the photos and Music settings to always look at the SD card path? right now photos are blank and I have to pic folders and go to the SD folders manually.
thanks!
This has been a topic discussed several times. It has to do with the chome.dll file stored in the /windows directory. For some reason it only maps to the /my documents/my pictures and the storage card/pictures folders (called storage card/DCIM). So the only work around, although a poor one, is to create a folder in the main root of your storage called "pictures" ( and not "my pictures") . Then place your pics there and they will show up on the sliding panel on your home screen. You will also be able to acces them from there. The only thing this will not do is send all of the pics you've taken from your camera to that directory. It will still put them in /storage card/my pictures (assuming you are using your storage card for puting your photos to) so you will still have to manually move those pics to the /storage card/pictures directory when you finish taking the pics.
Wow it's amazing what one can stumble upon when they are not looking. I had the same problem just never really searched out the issue. I tried what you suggested and works like a charm! Thanks pudgedaddy!
You can also create a folder called "DCIM" and it will detect the pictures on there as well.

no, its just what the windows system detects the "pictures" folder as. sorry to confuse...
Hello guys,
Is there a way to create folders in my gallery to organize all the pics that I have?
I have tried to create using ASTRO folders in DCIM \ Camera and and I have added some photos but when I open Gallery from my phone I can only see Camera Shots and All photos. I tried to move the folders in DCIM direcly same result.
Is there a way to do this?
And also in DCIM I see all new videos and phots are stored in 100MEDIA but I have a Camera folder, what is this Camera folder used for?
Thanks
You need to remount your SD card for your phone to see the new folders (or reboot). Try SD Mount or Reload SD from the market. Everytime you add new photos or new folders, remount your card, and your gallery should show the photos and folders. Personally, I create folders inside the media/pictures folder on my SD card, which works fine for me. Hope this helps

Good work! You inadvertantly answered another query I had regarding moving pictures into the pictures folder!
Does anyone know the location of the wallpapers folder?
Thanks!!
Phone: LTE Galaxy Nexus (VZ)
Preface: I recently swapped from JB Sourcery to AOKP M1 (JB). I loved Sourcery, but I was having stability issues. Anywho, I go into my Gallery, and notice all my photos are missing. Same w/ ringtones. I did some google searches, and have found it is potentially related to ROM Manager (which I had installed).
The fix(s)/attempts:
1) Delete .nomedia in DCIM folder -- No .nomedia files to be found (yes, I was checking hidden files [w/ MI File Explorer])
2) Check sdcard0 for .nomedia files, none
3) Settings > Apps > Media Storage > Clear Data; reboot -- nada
4) Downloaded StudioKUMA .nomedia Manager + Rescan Media Root and couldnt locate any nomedia files in the photo, ringtone, or root sd card directories.
5) Downloaded QuickPic - yes, this worked, but I don't like it and I don't want to rely on a 3rd party. Plus, this didn't solve my ringtone issue.
6) Removed the .nomedia file (//Android/data/.nomedia). Started media scanning via the app I listed above, cleared media storage data, and rebooted --> this did the trick BUT with one issue.
My issue w/ #6: My ringtones (slowly) returned--took a while for it to trickle in from various directories. The biggest gripe is that I now have all these extra images in my Gallery app that I didn't have before. What I DON'T understand is why/how the sdcard0/android/data folder affects the images that are located in a completely different directory (sdcard0/DCIM/ & sdcard0/ringtones/).
Has anyone figured out what actually happened here and how this android/data directory is playing a roll in my media?
Thanks & I hope my fixes/attempts help folks w/ this same issue.

same thing happened to me...coming from MIUI to AOKP...maybe its an AOKP issue? i also read something related to rom manager..but i didnt have rom manager installed...i never encountered it on any other rom before
there were no .nomedia files when i ran several scans...i downloaded quickpic and saw that a lot of my folders were labeled "hidden"...i deleted a bunch of the folders because as you said a lot of unwanted pictures started showing up when i un-hid them...i re-added all the stuff i needed from my PC...to this day i still dont know why my folders became "hidden"
Which phone do you have? W/ the GN, moving files is uber slow and a PITA. I have >5GB in my photos folder, and it will take forever.

I used the settings in my Note 2 to format my 32GB microsd card. when i view it in windows explorer, the only folder that has been created is the LOST.DIR. should it be creating a folder structure?
on my BlackBerry, whenever my card was formatted, the device would create the folder structure for music, videos, pictures, etc. I've already removed and reinserted the microsd card. Am I missing something?
you're missing the question and answer section
Thanks, I just checked there but still couldn't find my answer. Can't see a way to delete this thread, only edit, so if anyone is able to help out, it'd be appreciated.

Thanks....that worked for the camera! I tried launching the music player and video player, but no other folders are created.
Problems is, is that I have media to restore to the card but not sure if i should create the folders manually or what.
The reson i formatted it, is cause i took it straight from my Z10 to my Note 2 and wanted to clean up the folder structure. remove data, format, restore into new android folder structure. but didn't really work out
Hi, 2 days ago 2 of my folders in gallery got suddenly disappeared. There was a 'Camera' folder and a 'Kamera' folder (in Turkish), and there was a 'Screenshots' folder and a 'Ekran Görüntüleri' folder. Folders named in Turkish (disappared ones) was like the real folders, they were the main ones. All my new taken screenshots and photos were in that folders. The other ones contain some old photos. I remember i deleted 2-3 videos but did not deleted any of that folders accidentally. I looked at google photos but there were only old pictures. I tried many recovery programs but they didnt work because they are not deleted, they got lost. Is there a way i can try? They were so important to me please help...
(Also i tried to find by connecting PC, but i dont want to try format because they could be in internal storage.)
