Possible to record screen and system audio without root? - Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, 10.1, 8.4 Q&A, Help & Trouble

Hello guys, it's me again.... I have a question....
I use "Mobizen For Samsung" app now to record my videos from tablet, but the thing is, that it doesn't record system audio (and apps audio).
Please let me know if it's possible. (Tablet is 8.4 WiFi)
P.S. I know that Sony devices can record videos (With system audio, mic, rear cam and screen), but Samsung... will be Samsung...
P.S.S. It is for now. When this thing will be bad in perf or broke, I will change it to Nexus or Sony...
And when we will have that update for Android L? (my friend has Sony device that it is same proc, RAM and video card AND IT HAS IT. LIKE MONTHS AGO.)

Notes on your issues:
It is not possible to record system audio without root on the Tab Pro.
I would not recommend waiting to get another device. Just get it and have an extra for backup. Broken devices aren't fun. Especially when you don't have another. Trust.
Samsung has washed its hands of the Tab Pro. There will never be another OTA update.
Sorry.

[Q] Video playback on GN (compared to the Note)

There's a thread over in the Note section about poor black rendering in some videos. Could someone try out the sample on the Nexus and see if that too shows the same artifacts? The clip is here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?53da859r2gu8b8q,p4zi4js5g42uxu4
Trying to determine if this is specific to the Note, the screen, or possibly poor software/codec rendering...
* Bump *
I havent seen any other discussion about this based on the search terms I've used and some people said that the Nexus also suffers from the same issue.
Can anyone perform some testing ?
http://www.mediafire.com/?qd2a1d8jm18vvbs
Use the stock player (HW acceleration mode)
Set the screen brightness on the player to lowest
View in a dark room to avoid any distraction from reflections, viewing this with ambient light actually makes it less problematic.

I've downloaded video from first post but video player refuses to play it, sorry. But i was able to play above posted .mkv file and yes, picture looks pretty bad in very dark areas. I don't think we can change anything, that's how our SAMOLED works.

Thanks for trying the video above, other SAMOLED devices display it video w/o any issues.. Like the Samsung Wave , Galaxay S1 and Galaxy S2.
What bothers me though is that on some Galaxy Note's with the very same settings and scenario above it has far lesser issues.
Im actually surprised this is not covered on the Galaxy Nexus sub forums, maybe no one watches HD movies on a 4.65" screen ?
More feedback from users would be nice so samsung can take a look at this issue.
I have seen this on several videos. I thought it was because of codec but realized did not happen on any other device i had.

Android 4.0 does not have native .mkv support like TW devices. It has the ability to hardware decode because the OMAP4460 chipset can decode it but after the update to 4.0.2 divx support was removed for some reason.
4.0.2 changelog:
Device features
Optimized Mobile Hotspot when used with VPN.
Optimized 3G/4G data sessions for faster response times.
Fixed an incorrect notification that “data was disconnected due to roaming”.
Wi-Fi now automatically reconnects when returning to a known Access Point.
Improvements to special visual effects feature when using front-facing camcorder.
Visual improvements to the lock screen.
Email & messaging
Fixed an issue where some email attachments would not open correctly.
Apps & Widgets
DivX support has been removed, and will be supported in a future upgrade.
Improved audio volume in Google navigation turn-by-turn directions.
Try it with mVideo or Dice player, it should work.
Any of the many good video players should work.
MX Video Player even has dual-core support...
I've definitely noticed this about the Nexus screen. I don't know if it's as bad as the Note or not, but I started a couple of huge threads on android forums (some reference the Note thread, so there may be a circular reference thing going on ):
http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...ing-effect-nexus-other-hd-amoled-screens.html
http://androidforums.com/verizon-ga...ifacts-black-areas-during-video-playback.html
I would love to know if there are any workarounds or if supercurio will be able to help the Nexus owners similar to what he's doing for the Note.

vkworld Discovery S2 01.07.2106 Release NAKED EYE 3D PARALLAX PHONE

Hi guys! I guess I got an "early bird" because there it is no thread on my new phone.
General specs on the phone can be seen here http://www.kimovil.com/en/where-to-buy-vkworld-discovery-s2
It is on sale on Aliexpress
So I cut it a bit short :
a) Can be rooted ? Yes! With KingRoot latest version http://www.kingroot.net/ (I don't use Purify Thingy)
b) Can be installed Clockwork mod or any recovery partition ? NOPE MTK flashing tools does not have the MTK6735 in there to flash. But I know you guys are better so here the link to the factory firmware http://www.vkworld.cc/Romupdate/2016/0217/186.html
c) It is really eye free 3D screen on the phone ? YES IT IS AND WORKS FLAWLESS WITH NO HEADACHES AND STUFF. Only note on converting the videos for the phone in 3D only supports videos with the 1080p resolution , that means if you have a big video that it is 2000x2000 in the video encoder you must set "aspect ration to 2000x2000 (your video main res)" and export resolution to "1920x1080" and play in 3D stereoscopic only in Tridef app included in the phone. Tried any other app from Google Play -> did not work , I guess lands some system permission to the 3D screen driver.
d) Battery lasts a steady 6 hour 50min here the link to real test https://browser.primatelabs.com/battery3/213339
e) Does SD-CARD fail after 2 weeks ? NO! Only thing that failed after 2 days was the crap USB cable that comes with the phone (but that I think it is a minor thing and happened to even high brand phones too) SD-CARD works flawlessly and already passed only like 1 month
f) Does audio crack ? No. Audio is flawless.
g) Does have any design flaw ? Hmm ... the USB charging port it is a bit deep inside so it need a cable with a longer pin. Like this one http://orico.cc/goods.php?id=5724 (Not a big deal , it works with standard other cables ... but not recommended when trying flashing software)
h) Does it comes with headset ? Yep... does come with crap 10$ headset
Overall it is a very good phone and the usb design flaw it is kinda very known thing in all phones to be flawed even on top brands they are not in line with the factory cables , and forces users to buy a better cable than the one in the box.
Root based app installed on it right now are :
GLTools https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.n0n3m4.gltools&hl=eng gives a soft loop "semi brick" when installs but after holding the phone power button for like 1 min and starting the phone again , GLTools lands installed .... *use it at your own risk.
This tool I installed only for the fact that all Android games lands to the resolution of 1920x1080 and ...that it is overkill for a phone , so lowering it in half lands to a steady fps of 30-45 in Call of Champions (without GLTools it lands to 15-22 fps) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=sts.ch
Device Control to set the cpu to 266 mhz when in need https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.namelessrom.devicecontrol&hl=en (SetCpu failed miserably)
Replacement app for the main camera app that sucks (default camera can land to the 3D screen driver and land a lot of noise on the screen ) :
Open Camera
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.sourceforge.opencamera&hl=en (Photos / Video recordings are flawless with this app)
I really think this one it is the best phone from vkworld , and compared with other phones I had (Samsung , Sony) , it is flawless.
Right now I use it as my main phone.
Guys I tried all the things to make a recovery image and bricked the phone (flashed other MT6735 based phones images) . Only software that works it is SPFLASH MULTI TOOL (the one that comes with the factory rom link I listed) and checksum gen app (found in S1 stock firmware archive) and that only for flashing the factory rom.
I managed to get the phone back , and learned that KingRoot it is a bit of a "malware" that is good for root , but better fast replaced with this app SuperSuME https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=darkslide.com.supersumepro&hl=en (There it is an old version on this forum that it is Ad supported 1.67 or something like that)
This phone it is so young that the MTK TOOLS does not find it to make a scatter file , the scatter it is from the stock rom provided by the manufacturer.
Managed to install VainGlory on the phone via Amazon Undergound app http://www.amazon.com/Super-Evil-Megacorp-Vainglory/dp/B0159F675W (the phone it is listed not compatible on Google Play) and it runs flawless at 35 fps without GLTools enabled and with GLTools goes up to 58 fps (did not find a way to disable V-sync so that it is the limit of the V-sync)
Don't know why some app list it "not compatible" when the CPU/GPU clearly are doing well.
Hi guys! I don't want to start a new thread. Anyone can make a TWRP recovery img for my phone ? I tried all the recovery.img made for MTK6735 but this one is MTK6735a and the phone boots but there is no recovery menu only black screen and normal boot after.
I'm not a programmer so I hope anyone in here can. use the linked S2 rar with the firmware to make a recovery img.
Thank you!
I just learned of this phone and started doing some research on it. What app do you use to conver your movies to 3D also what games if any are compatible with this phone 3D ? Thank you

The phone has a custom OpenGL driver for the 3D software that does the video play in 3D stereo , and only work with the bundled 3D player in the stock rom.
For converting videos I use https://www.shotcut.org/features/ all videos must be in 1920x1080 resolution only SIDE by SIDE or Top Bottom videos work (real 3D videos)
Bundled launcher it is full of adware , so you must replace it with Nova or Google launcher.
3D games in 3D stereo does not work due custom GL driver used by the manufacturer.
I use the phone as my main phone , no problems encountered , only the adware launcher bounced in after 3 months and I replaced it with Nova but going to change to Google (free Nova does not give info on messages and stuff)
Latest Windows 10 update registered an wrong driver to the MTP so another one down from the list must be selected so the phone can be viewed * No problems in Windows 10 before anniversary crap update / Windows 7 / Windows 8.1 I guess not even Ubuntu has no issues seeing this phone
The phone it is unbrickable , managed to brick it and open the back plastic covers and unscrew two screws and disconnected the battery and SPFLASH was able to see it again. *It may need Windows 7 for drivers and stuff , did not try on Windows 10 only checked the SPFLASH a bit and does see the phone.
I won't call the phone a gaming phone , but need for speed works , fifa works , vainglory works , gameloft titles that are new are very slow and dunno can be due the big resolution of the screen.
The battery last decent time compared to other in same category.

Can you offer any tips on how to remove the back cover on this phone? It's not clear to me how to do that.

Pushing in the audio jack corner to the plastic top cover on the back will open a bit the plastic so you can go with a credit card plastic thing on it and the other one is a bit harder but is same thing on the corner of the phone or where it is a bit of space on the metal back and the plastic . Or use a plastic tool like this one https://www.ifixit.com/Store/Tools/Plastic-Opening-Tools/IF145-000-1 or your own nails if you have one bigger.
The plastics are not sturdy so not big force must be used , but be gentle on doing it , will open very fast and easy.
Did not find any TWRP to work on this phone.

SloMo video recording doesn't capture audio?

Yesterday my friends and I decided to remove a tree from his property with 40lbs of tannerite. We set up a box of the binary explosive at the base of a tree, and I went back to about 100 yards and touched it off with a round fired from my AR15.
I had my friend record it with my OP3 running the latest community build and I thought it would be cool to capture it in slow motion video, because you can actually see the shockwave of the blast... The problem that I found, after the fact, is that unlike the iPhone, this phone(or camera app) doesn't capture audio in SlowMo mode?
Is there a way to change this, or a better camera app to use? I obviously cannot add audio to the existing video, which is a shame... But in the future it would be nice.
I would say that the one area where the new iPhones beat most Android phones is the camera. Not so much the camera itself(to the untrained eye), but in the software and capabilities... When I had an iPhone 6s+ it would do slowmo at 240fps(versus 120fps) and it captured audio. Then you could edit the video on the phone, crop it down, change what part of the video you wanted to be in slowmo, what parts to play at normal speed, and save it. Really neat to crop it all down and have it play normally with audio and then only slow down the cool part that you want...
I was able to crop it and play with the speeds on my video, but I had to import it into Windows Movie Maker and do it there, and of course, there is no audio... If I could take the iPhones camara and editing capability and put it on this phone, that would be ideal...
Any ideas?

It's not a problem of oxygen os; for some reason the Android doesn't capture sound in slow motion.

Darn, that's a shame. His iPhone records audio even at 240fps... Would be nice if we could do that in Android... there is no reason why it can't do it, someone just didn't bother to put the feature in there...
Sometimes you want audio in there, especially if you plan to speed it up, then it would sound normal...

The professional cameras as I know doesn't record sound too, so maybe they blocked the sound because they think is useless. :/

Android is capable of capturing sound in slow motion. Oneplus 3 doesn't do it. You can search videos on youtube with 'pixel xl slow motion' 'galaxy note 7 slow motion' etc and you will see that they all record video (on most of them the sound is mono in slow motion - usually left side).

Ok, so it isn't an Android limitation, it is more up to the maker of the particular phone to decide if they want to enable it or not...
As much as I hate to say it, the way Apple does it is tremendous... Not only can they do 240fps, but their video editing software is really slick... I don't know that I can even crop a video on this thing... Oh well.
Hey guys, have you seen this thread?

I have an OP3T running OOS 4.1.1 rooted, and can assure it works.
Sure, it would need some tweaks to get the best out of it, but still.. you get SlowMo with sound
The mod works with OB13 as well. I'm using it

Mi 9 SE audio recording for extreme loud environments

I went to an electronic party last weekend so I could finally test the audio recording quality on extreme situations.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzfXQqgGZ1M
Turns out its really awful. Even my friend with a Motorola G5 have better audio quality. That is pretty disappointing for me, as I'm also a DJ and music producer so I make videos under this circunstances a lot. Also it impacts song-finder apps, as the quality is so bad that the app can't recognise the song.
Is there anything that can be done via software? Custom ROM or tweaks... Or is it a matter of the microphone (hardware) quality itself?
Btw I've already tried recording with the Open Camera App selecting the "unprocessed" audio source. Gets distorted same way.
Thanks in advance.
I confirm the existence of a similar problem for me and several people. How can this be fixed at least temporarily?
Thanks in advance.

Can't really call it a "problem" since it affects all Xiaomi phones. It's just a standard quality microphone paired with bad software otimization. I did some tests and the microphone is actually capable of capturing audio with less distortion under these conditions, the problem is the processing applied to the audio isn't optimized for these situations, making it distort.
Did you have the same issues using other kernels or roms? I confirm I've been getting similar issues also

Yea I tried every rom and kernel... all the same.
If it was only at shows... could live with it. But the audio distorts even at daily things like recording messages on whatsapp when inside a vehicle (I reported this on another thread). I get really frustrated.
Same here..I participate at the lot of Trance events and simply, audio is one big bulshitt. (like at 99% of Android phones). For loud events recordings, iPhones are still the best

Exactly... I always had android, then I swiched to an iphone 6s only because of the audio I knew was good... now I finally came back to android (cause I love the OS and its variety of functions compared to iOS) and unfortunately suffering again with poor audio recording. The few android I know can handle this are the top-end Samsung (S8, S9, S10). I heard about HTC also but never got to see or test it personally.
Altough I really can't understand why manufacturers don't take this audio thing more seriously, they leave this aside like no one cared about audio quality lol

Damn, I thought I was the only with this kind of concern and this is the reason I'm currently using an iPhone 6s as my second phone just for audio recording. In my case I like to listen and play metal music with my band in a rehearsal room, so I always used my phone to record my rehearsals to see my band's progress and some other things and the best phone with a good recorder was the Mi 8 Lite until someone robbed me.
Idk why Xiaomi don't take a look to this issue, I mean, I'm not saying they have to listen to heavy metal or something like that, just realize the many scenarios the people would use the recorder app or the camera, e.g. in concerts.

Most android manufacturers lose users to Apple just because of details like this, they don't realize how important this might be for some users. I mean, take for example artists on the music world... these are influent people... and 99% of them use iPhones because of things like the audio quality.
Anyway... this conversation can go really far.
Talking about the Mi 9 SE... mostly the cause of the the bad audio quality is bad software optimization. Xiaomi could get this a lot better with just some simple updates. I've tried modifying some microphone options, turns out it can actually record with less distortion (not really perfect but better). Still a bit of the guilt is on the microphone hardware itself... its kinda cheap.
try cameramx app, set audio source to external. it worked quite well at a muse concert.
the issue is the recording volume too high which affects also whatsapp vocal messages.
somebody solved it on rooted devices by installing root volume mixer pro, set the microphone gain to -3. this wasn't tested at loud events, only on whatsapp.

I've tried using Open Camera with audio source set to unprocessed. Didn't solve it for me, got a bit less distortion but still a lot (maybe bacause the sound was really extremely loud). Will try with "external" source.
I was trying to modify the mic gain directly on the system files, but I'm gonna try that volume mixer pro thing also. Ty.

Did it make it any better?
I have the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE , i love the phone, but yes the recording quality is terrible. i downloaded the Root volume control, but when im in the path files, i dont know what changes to make.....
What is the recording mic on the camera called in the files??.......what values am i looking for??......
How many changes to i need to make.......??
I don't know ir the problem is because harware or software, but this problem doesn't happen in all Xiaomi phones, because models like Mi 9T (Pro version also) or Mi 8 records the audio clearly, also, remember that an user said that the Mi 8 Lite has a good quality of audio recording (I don't know if the NORMAL Mi 9 (not SE) records well the audio). Probably the problem is from the hardware, because phones like a big part of Redmi or other Android has a low quality mic, so the sound recorded will be poor, this problem also happens with other companies like OnePlus.
But if we want to talk in a general way, all the cellphones, including those made from Apple, ASUS, HTC or Samsung are going to lose quality in the record of concerts, very few phones like some LG are good recording specifically the audio from concerts.
I fixed a bit this problem just putting a finger up the microphone. At least it didnt clip af
Try another camera app like Cinema-FV5. I heard it improves.
Had this problem with every xiaomi I owned, only Mi 8 Lite didn't have it, so strange :\
hi, i had this problem on Redmi 3, on MI 9 SE its better, but still present. I installed CameraMX and set microphone to external and i think it helps a lot !

Camera video problem

Hi. i just purchased a note 8 pro, for the most part satisfied, however i noticed something when i record 4k videos using the stock camera app. basically the phone cant keep up with the fast camera movements. im not sure if there is a term for this problem, but you can see it in the video below, when i move the phone, the change in the display cannot keep up with the movement. i have to wait for the camera to update and its annoying.. is there a way to fix this, or is it a hardware limitation?
