Hey Guys,
So I Wanted To Use The App "Applock" but found out it needs the "apps with usage access" setting which is not in the lg default settings. Is there a possible way of getting this setting back in stock rom?
P.s I've tried nova and apex launcher but couldnt find it
Thx,
MrFalky
The only way I know of accessing it is through Nova launcher. Long press the home screen and select Widgets. Locate the Activities widget, and drag it to your home screen. When the Activities menu opens, scroll down to and select Settings. When the Settings menu expands, scroll down to and select "Apps with usage access". You can then select and add Applock to the list of apps w/ usage access.

Hey,
I feel really blind. I cant seem to find it in the "settings" tab in the nova activites. Does it start with "apps with usage access" or is it for ex Settings apps with usage access? Could you please take a screenshot?
Srry for disturbing you
Thx,

For those of you who dont like the SenseUI...
Last night i was playing around with my brother's new galaxy and installed aHome Lite (free from android market) to gain extra screens for him to use. I then decided out of curiosity to install it on my hero (this will probably work on all ROMs but i have a pre-rooted 2.73.405.5 ROM ala Modaco just for the record)
Those who have used open home or ahome will know that after installation the the home key brings up the option to choose what home panel to use, same thing happens with the hero but not only does it bring up TouchFLO and aHome options but also the standard Home option.
Simply uninstall aHome and your stll left with the to remaining options, 'Home' and 'TouchFLO'. By clicking on 'Home', you will get the default android home screen, simply kill the TouchFLO process in Taskiller (once inside the default Home interface) and voila
I'm not sure this has already been discovered...if so mods please delete this thread.
Peace.
i want to customize the app/dialog which is displayed when pressing home key (normally touchflo starts, but as we can see this can be modified).. any1 knows how to?
go into settings->Applications->Manage. Scroll down to TouchFLO and go into it then click on "Clear Defaults". Now press home button and it'll give you the option to choose which one to go to and you can also tick the "Use this as default" or whatever it says.
thx but this is not what i meant.. i have another app, which should be displayed after a long press on the home key..

longpress home only shows recently started apps. i don't think there is a way to modify that behavior yet.
for those using multiple home apps i would recommend Home Switcher. useful little app
But surely the recently started apps are also the currently running ones too
I'm just thankful the press and hold of Home actually does what it should now and act as a switcher.
It still acts as "apps currently running" for me.

I would like to try this, see what the Hero looks and runs like with standard Android interface.
If I do, and I want to return to the standard Hero setup, do I just reselect "Use this as default" when selecting TouchFlo after pressing the home key?
there must be the ability to change the behaviour of long pressing home key, since at least on rooted phones everything at software level can be modified..

Yup, thats right. If you do find u have accidentally set the Android interface as default, just clear the default the same way you had with the TouchFlo from the 'Manage Applications' menu.
Peace.

How do you know and why there are always max 6 of them ? You think, but for sure this is a list of last used applications ... try to kill some of them and see the list - they are still there.
What I was thinking is a "short home press" usage, which has no function if you are already at "home" ...
Actually I wanted to write "apps recently run".
People claiming they changed it to "apps currently running" with the new update but I am not sure if that's the case.
i was playing around with Apex Launcher and decided to try its TabletUI.
but once i enabled it, i found no way to call up the Apex settings to cancel this mode.
now im left with a few blank screens (as i have no shortcuts added yet), no dock, and just the 3 virtual buttons (which do not help)..
any one can enlighten me? tia..
Press the menu button then apex settings .. or find the apex icon in the app drawer

which menu button? i only got "Back", "Home" and "App List" buttons..
i tried tap, long tap, double-tap on these 3 buttons, and none of the actions can bring me to the apex settings..
when i pressed "Apex icon" in the app drawer, i was returned to the home screen again..
Hit the 3-dot menu button in the app drawer. Nova has a menu button on the home screen search bar

Yep, 3 dot menu in app drawer --> apex settings --> homescreen --> its near the bottom
thx for ur replies.. i got similar answer from apex thread..
forgot to mention that my way of entering the app drawer is by clearing apex data and return to stock launcher..
when in tablet mode, i cant find the "menu" (6-dots) button in the home screen..
and i figured out why i couldnt see the button that enters app drawer.. cos its on the google search bar!
and before turning on the tablet ui, i had disabled the option "Show persistent search bar" in apex settings..
that pretty much ended every possible way of returning to the apex settings when in tablet mode (along with disabling tap, double-tap & long-tap actions)..

Double tap the home screen you should see a menu. Or just long press the home screen and add the Apex actions /Apex settings".
thx for all the replies, and to prevent others from repeating my mistake, here is a summary of what i did (and what should be avoided)..
(1) disable "Desktop double tap" & "Desktop long press" actions in Apex Settings -> Behavio(u)r settings
(2) disable "Show persistent search bar" in Apex Settings -> Homescreen settings
(3) enable "Use tablet UI mode" in Apex Settings -> Homescreen settings
this series of settings will effectively make ur N7 stuck in tablet mode, and the only option now is "Notification bar -> Settings -> Apps -> Apex Launcher -> Clear data"

is there such a key in nexus 7?!
For some odd reason, most probably updating google apps, im now getting the "the complete action using" notification more often. Even during a slide up action to open google now brings me that notification and i have choice to replace the slide up option to activate my screen off app.
But im wondering once i set an app as "always" open using it, how do i change it later ?
You can choose again if you "Clear defaults" on the currently active app under the apps menu in settings.

Your right. It is actually a feature of that screen off app :good: rather than anything to with updating google apps.

With the G2 you could swipe up from the button and acces quickmemo.
There's only a google search option with the G4, any way to change this?

Not that I've found. there are two other good options:
1) Add QuickMemo+ to your quick shortcuts in the notification panel
2) add a shortcut to your lock screen
This should work.
Settings > Apps > (Menu) Reset Default Apps
Clear whichever one it is, and redo the action and you should get an option to reassign + some other options
Mine gives me the option to call out a tasker task or greenify screen off+lock which is what I do so i can turn the screenoff even from a full screen app without using the button on the back.
Hello.
Is there some way to change the shortcuts on the lock screen? I would to change Voice Assistent shortcut.
Thanks a lot

Step 1: Head to Settings menu and then choose Apps.
Step 2: Press the gear icon in the top right-hand corner and choose Default Apps > Assist & voice input.
Step 3: Tap the Assist option and choose None from the pop-up menu.
The current selection is Google, which means that the Google Now shortcut on the lock screen will be replaced. And now for that caveat: Changing this setting also disables long-pressing the Home button to open Google Now on Tap.
If you change your mind, you can always switch the Assist app back to Google.
Thanks you very very much.
I solve the problem.
Happy new week
