I am currently running 4.6.3 with google service, etc... installed.
If I update to the latest version of fireOS, would I face any issues?
From reading other forum posts, it appears that Fire OS 4.6.3 (463001620) and Fire OS 4.6.5 (465000520) are the same. The only difference is 4.6.5 has AT&T apps. So, if you are asking about updating to Fire OS 4.6.5 (465000520), then your phone already has the latest version of Fire OS.

I've already got the play store working an a US kindle fire HD in the UK.
Trouble is its my wife's and she would like it to "just work" i.e. with the UK app store.
Is there anyway to force it onto amaazon.co.uk? I've tried downloading the UK version of software, but as its the same version it doesn't pick it up as an update.
Hello, I'm just wondering if it's alright to update my Fire TV from 51.1.4.0_user_514006420 to the latest version would xbmc still install?
Thanks,
Peter.
Hi Peter,
You should be OK, please someone else confirm in case I haven't had the latest updates yet.
I had one stuck on firmware and I was trying not to update, but since the great news of hardware rooting I decided to update mine just before Christmas with no issues. As long as there hasn't been an update since then you should be fine.
Good Luck Peter.

If you are not rooted.. and you do not care about rooting your device then go ahead and update and you can still Install Kodi/XBMC via sideload. There's a lots of guides on here on how to sideload Kodi/XBMC.
But, if you are rooted..then DON"T you will loose the ability of root.
Hope that helps!.
I just got a Fire Phone off eBay. It's the AT&T version running on Fire OS 3.5.1, I have tried using KingRoot 4.0, KingRoot 4.1 and KingRoot 4.5...it keeps failing on the Root....what do I need to do?
If I remember correctly, the versions 3.5.x were rootable with Towelroot.
Nope, it seems only 3.5.0 can be rooted with Towelroot, but I guess you want to update your device at some point or use it for research first, since it has the old version installed?
The v. 4.6.1 /3/4 are all rootable with Kingroot.
In case you want to update right away, here's the direct link for AT&T 4.6.4: http://fire-phone-updates.s3.amazon...update-fire-phone-32.4.6.4_user_464000220.bin
You could also update to the "GSM unlocked" version, when you received your code: http://fire-phone-updates.s3.amazon...update-fire-phone-35.4.6.3_user_463001620.bin
"GSM unlocked" simply means it's a "neutral" version that works on all phones, doesn't matter if netlocked or not (for example, in the past, I used the 4.6.1 GSM unlocked on my T-Mobile device).
I ended up upgrading to 4.6.3...I didn't know 4.6.4 could be rooted, so I hunted down 4.6.3.....just curious, what would happen if I installed the "GSM unlocked" version on my AT&T locked one? would it just fail?
Like I said, nothing will / would happen. Can be used just as the 4.6.4. The netlock is on the device, netlock doesn't care about the OS version / firmware. Everything will work how it's supposed to.
Ever since upgrading to Marshmallow, Play Store on my Verizon G4 cannot update the Amazon Kindle app. Has anyone else had this problem? I get the message Can't Install App (Error code: -505)
Also, any chance someone here can tell me it's current available OS version? I know some are saying 5.2.2 or something like that, while this device is 5.0.4.
According to the device the last update was a year ago. Which seems like a long time without and update lol.
