Hey what's up fellow G4 users,
Been trying to get Lspeed working with my phone but it just can't for I get tons of battery drain, warmer than usual, no deep sleep at all. Wanted to see if anyone else uses the mod and no issues perhaps? Thanks much appreciated.
Due to unlock boot loader, L Speed Mod lines couldn't write on Build.pro. So its like its not working for me. So I have not using it and now I installed Root booster app on all my devices and achieves higher scores on Antutu. And try CTT Mod, devices run cooler no more heat issue.
What the above guy said about the bootloader being locked.
Your best bet is to kill the wakelock you have, something is running rogue and causing your battery/performance to go haywire. A good start is to download Better Battery Stats and check out the kernal wakelocks, partial wakelocks section, and alarms.

I have a couple of questions on my rooted Evo.... I rooted my wifes Evo and my Evo using the newest unrevoked. After rooting I flashed Myns warm 2.2 rom along with kingx kernel# 9... I also flashed the collins ph battery tweak.. The first couple of days we had phenomenal battery life, as well as the phones being fast as hell... My question is now the phones seem to be running at a very high cpu usage percentage I.e. anywhere from 60-99% cpu usage.. Is this normal?? The battery life is also terrible now, and I haven't changed anything since flashing the rom and kernel. I was using set cpu and after doing some research I found out that set cpu interferes with the battery tweak so I uninstalled.... What should the normal cpu percentage be at?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thank you in advance!!

use a task killer such as "advanced task killer" to kill unwanted apps that run in the background. also, i have setcpu set to over 1GHZ max and 576MHz minimun and honestly, i cannot tell if it makes a difference in battery life, alot of these things you will have to find out for your own because each phone is a little bit different for each user...
there are a few things that can cause this. it is likely one of the apps you have installed is staying on or you have a run away process. The sue of task killers is debated as being a good idea or not i will let you make your own choice on that but i will say the task killer wont fix the problem it will just try to cover it up.
The problem is that the true fix will probably take some time and find and correct. If it is and app one tool that may help is the paid version of system panel. it will help monitor which apps use the most cpu/battery time and it shows you all running apps. you can also use system panel to kill your apps manually (by pressing the kill all button or killing each individually). I have used it help trouble shoot and monitor my battery etc and it has been helpful to me however i will say it doesnt always provide enough information to help you figure out what app is causing the problem when that happens i usually assume its a system process causing the issue.
as for normal it i going to very greatly depending on the apps you have running. when just sitting here watching it mine is normally 8-15% and occasionally goes as high as 20.
Thank you guys... that system panel is awesome!!

Hello xda members, i was hoping to get some questions resolved on this battery tweak.
I just installed a no havs kernal along with a ported version of collins battery tweak for my non-sense rom.
My question is how do i configure it , to make sure its on.
i know from myns original colling mod post i should use like 2 commands
pidof batt.sh , on myns post it says i should have a number pop up after entering this assure that the tweak is working --- i enter this and i the following numbers 3293 2041
the next one that i used is batt-cfg
and then i get the menu posted on myns post this shows the script it working.
my question is how exactly do you know if the collins battery mod is running? should i do anything with the menu that i get when i enter batt-cfg or it already running?
thanks in advance
Collin's battery tweak is pretty much a script that clocks down your processor depending on your battery level, at least thats what it does at the core, I'm not sure if Myn's version has all of the CollinPH teaks that he did on his platform.
I unfortunately had no luck with the tweak, the ksoft process kept skyrocketing on me, and I'm not an expert with kernel - hardware processes, so I don't have the slightest clue on how to go about debugging this. (Although, if I had to guess, its a recursion issue with the script changing the last battery level variable and then testing it again)
However, to see if you're having any luck, you can use OS Monitor to see process cpu %, and what governor and clock your CPU is currently at. I'd be careful setting the clock with OS monitor, it has crashed my device every time I've tried.
You can also try putting on CurrentWidget to see what the draw is on your device, however, I'm not quite sure how accurate it is, mostly cause I haven't looked, but its very nice for a baseline, and you can create a text logfile of the draw and current apps running.
Ya I also trieed to do this tweak with no luck the ksoft was way to high have you checked out the site now he has more in depth guide but I still could not get it to work
sup
has anybody else tried this tweak heard people had great battery life out of it but i just cant get it to work can anybody help please
How can I improve the battery life of my play with rooting? I don't want apps that kill every background app though as I may want to go back but it would be killed

Assuming you're on a stock rom theres a couple things you can do. The easiest would be to root and use Titanium Backup to either freeze or remove the bloatware from your phone as it runs in the background and causes drain. Another would be to look into using some of the tweaks found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1227269
Another option is to try running different firmwares, personally I found the older ones to give me better battery life while others found the oppisite to be true, so try a few till you find one that suits you. A more extreme approach which will yeild far better results is to unlock your bootloader allowing custom ROMs and kernels. With custom kernels you can over and underclock your phone while choosing more effecient governers (like the smartass governer). You can also undervolt your phone which will probably lead to the biggest saving. Custom ROMs can also increase or reduce your battery life, again, try a few. Personally I run at 1.5ghz on smartass, undervolted as much as possible with version 7.1.0.1 of CM7 and have great battery life. Also keep in mind the obvious tweaks such as turning off wifi, gps, 3g, brightness, etc to prolong battery life.
-EDIT- Also on older firmwares there was a problem with using "Automatic" under time and date where it would cause a lot of battery drain so you may want to turn this off if you think it might be a problem
Thanks, but I'd rather not root my phone yet. Thanks anyways

I would say update to .62 firmware it should be up for all around the world yesterday i updated my arc s to it.I was setting up the phone after (flash before the update) and i had to set up everything again and my battery is still on 70% from yesterday (im talking downloading apps, connectin accs and stuff, like 3-4h of usage and around 8h on idle while i was sleeping). My phone isnt rooted and its with stock rom and stuff
I use juice defender ultimate. It allows me to easily get a days usage out of my phone when before i barely got a day

Hi guys,
I'm a bit of a noob so please bear with me. I recently rooted my phone (SGH-I747M Telus), I have CWM recovery installed. I was interested in overclocking so I installed this kernel on my stock rooted rom (I installed the "sammy" one). I also cleared the delvik cache, cache, and fixed permissions before rebooting. Now I'm having a weird problem with video playback. I get these bleep like sounds, like you might hear on a spaceship, lol. The normal audio plays in addition to these sounds. Yet, regular audio plays fine (mp3s), same with youtube. So, my question is, why? Is there any way of fixing this? I'd rather not play around the stock ROM. I made a backup before doing anything and recently tried to restore the boot, but I got an invalid md5 check.

Okay, I was able to fix my problem by flashing the stock at&t kernel... but I would still like to be able to overclock... is there another kernel that I can try or a way to fix the problem with the kernel I already tried? Thanks.
If you still want to try previous kernel your problem might be because of heavy undervolting , kernel creator posted this voltage chart.
You can experiment by increasing voltage and see if that helps.
Or you can just try this faux kernel , its pretty good also, we don't have many kernel choices for Samsung based roms at this early development cycle.

Thanks for the reply... but I was able to fix the problem. It was something wrong with the settings of SetCPU which I installed earlier. I changed it from on demand to performance and now all is well. Now I have a question about battery life. Will overclocking drain battery a lot faster? I imagine it would only make a difference if I was doing CPU intensive things.

Well.. performance setting makes it so that your CPU runs 100% all the time. I don't think that will be battery friendly . Overclock generally uses more power and battery longevity will depend on your usage.
You can try messing with setcpu settings. Try Conservative, then limit minimum speed to 384 and max to your preference. Try your movie again.
Current kernels and setcpu are a bit quirky.
I had the same issues on ktoonsez Sammy. Ended up back at stock AT&T. I've heard it's an issue with many of the kernels but a fix is on the way. Couldn't find a way to get rid of it, but that's not to say it can't be done. Don't have much time to tinker right now.

Its a known issue on ktoonsez kernel. Flash faux's kernel, it has the same features (as well as GPU OC) and doesn't have the audio issue.
*I no longer have this phone so these values and builds will not be updated if you would like to add new values for this phone or add tweaks to existing builds then feel free to post them on this thread.
*This requires root
I decided to make this thread to share with you guys a tweak that I found that really helped my battery life. I was never able to get more than 3hrs of screen on time on my phone or get decent standby times on lollipop like I did when I was on marshmallow but I may have found a solution. I stumbled on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/general/guide-advanced-interactive-governor-t3269557 by soniCron give the guy a thanks while you're over there. This guide is for CPU settings to increase battery life and performance. I saw that it was for the Nexus 5x and because the g4 and 5x have the same CPU I decided to give it a shot. I never noticed much performance improvements but I did notice a big battery improvement like I said before. There are many different flavors of tweaks to try and I ended up going with GhostPepper and then tweaking it to my liking.
Here are my settings for the G4 based on GhostPepper
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Yn-qtExspkzINkhtjHBhQyrbtSdMLH9ls4booeqsfh4/edit?usp=sharing
* 8/14/16 If you used the settings from the beta build Turtle or modded GhostPepper check to make sure your settings are up to date. I just changed some target load numbers slightly and fixed an error with the values for above_hispeed_delay. I also fixed an error with a value for the modded GhostPepper settings.
*8/15/16 Slight changes to beta settings to increase smoothness and battery life slightly
*8/17/16 Small change to beta settings to increase smoothness more and changed development status of Turtle to stable beta meaning you can probably use it without worrying about battery drain or slow downs though it does need more testing to move it to daily use
After changing these values with some type of kernel tweaking app I used kernel adiutor, make sure all CPU boosting settings like touch boost or input interval are off or at 0
After applying these settings you should see noticeable improvements in battery life
If you find any better settings add them to the thread.

I meant to put that in the post updating it now.
I found simply changing my governor to interactive greatly increased my battery life. I am going to try this and see what I get. I'll post results.

OK great this uses the interactive governor.
New Beta Settings
I have updated the main post with a link to a list of settings one of them is the one that was on there before and the other is one I am working on. The beta I just added seems fairly decent from my testing though this is my first time trying to make my own The small core settings are ones that I did and the Big core settings are slightly tweaked GhostPepper settings. This one seems smooth from my testing maybe not as smooth as the first one I added but it does seem to have a little better battery life when doing light gaming. If your adventurous go for it and report any issues and the battery life you are getting. I also turned all thermal settings off like Core control, VDD, and Temp throttle. It didn't have any affect on my temps if anything they went down a little maybe 1 or 2 degrees but did seem to help smoothness and making sure the governor settings acted right on both profiles.

Just wanted to post an update on the battery life I am getting with the beta settings. I managed to get almost 5hrs of screen on time with the Turtle settings beating my previous longest screen on time from the images in the first post. I managed to do this with even more demanding tasks. In the first post the battery times are with mainly web browsing this time I was mainly watching Netflix and YouTube for about 3hrs worth of my screen on time. My brightness was also 10% higher than the first time. I also did a standby test and managed to only drain 3% overnight and it said I would get 139 hrs of standby time which I think is insanely good.
Battery life test
I just ran the Geekbench 3 battery test and managed to get 5 hrs 45 min and a score of 3456 on the beta settings. I managed to beat the G4 battery time by 50min and this was with 30% brightness and Bluetooth, WiFi, and Cell on no airplane mode. I also managed to beat the G3 and almost got the same battery time as the OnePlus One.

Hi, dude. I'm very interested in tweaking my G4 to get better battery life as at the moment I need to charge it twice a day. I just have a noob question, could you please tell me how you disabled touchboost using Kernel Adiutor?

Go to the CPU section then scroll all the way down till you get to a section that says CPU Boost. Set the Interval to 0 Sync Threshold disabled and Input Interval to 0. The input boost frequency will never disable for me but with the above settings it shouldn't matter because it will never run anyway.

I would try the GhostPepper settings first. The beta settings seem to give me better battery but they are still a work in progress and not as smooth as the other settings but you can use them if you want any feedback on those settings would be appreciated. I was also surprised how much those settings did for my battery life.
I decided to do a benchmark on how much of a difference there was between stock and the custom settings and to show I wasn't making stuff up by saying that I used these settings and magically got almost double battery life With the stock settings I got just a hair over 3hrs vs almost 6hrs on the tweaked CPU settings. You can see the results from stock in the IMG. The results for the tweaked settings are near the bottom of the first page.

How is your battery life after trying the settings out for a few days?
hey man i just tried yours and let we see the performance in next day. anyway the tweak that youve done is only on the CPU? no GPU or whatsoever? what if i implemented from others, let say other G4 users that tweak the GPU and i combined with your CPU tweak. any problem?
Hey man, how could I get the tweak for this setting? Thank you
I didn't think you could tweak the kernel without an unlocked bootloader for the Verizon G4 (vs98613b)?

You need to be rooted then use the app kernel adiutor and change the values in the app.
