Hi there, I try to network unlock my Sony Xperia Z1 compact to be able to use it on another network. I called my phone provider and they gave me a code.
Unfortunately it does not work. They ask me to send the phone to a weird electronic company that does not look directly related with Sony.
I don't really want to buy a code from all these unlock web sites and I like the challenge to do it by myself. I ask you guys if there is a generator that can generate the code for me or even an algorithm available to the public or even a way to flash the phone to do the job.
Thanks.

HI guys,
I got an Xperia Arc S that was sim locked, so I contacted orange support and they gave me the code for unlocking, but when I entered the code it said "Could not unlock network", then I checked and the phone was hard locked..
I didn't enter any codes before orange gave me this one, and I bought it new, still its hard locked..
Is there any way that I can somehow undo the hard lock, so I can enter the unlock code??
Also does unlocking bootloader removes sim lock or hard lock??
Thx in advance
P.S.
It's 12W19 so the SETool doesn't work
unlocking bootloader DOESN'T removes sim lock or hard lock.

OK, but can hard lock somehow be removed or something so I can enter the code?
Bump.
Have the same problem with a BRAND NEW Sony Ericsson MK16a Xperia Pro from Fido in Canada.
I had earlier attempted a testpoint and it failed (only then did I find out about the post-12W14 ones not working with testpoint). Mine is 12W21.
I bought an unlock code, but it kept failing. I checked the unlock attempts counter in the hidden menu, and it showed 10 attempts, and that number decreased to 7 (I tried 3 times).
Brought the phone to the shop where I bought the code. They claim my phone is hardlocked!
Tried buying the code from another provider. Code is exactly the same as the one that didn't work.
Any idea what to do?

Was it supposed to be unlocked in the first place? I'd just take it back to the place where I bought it.

What do you mean by "supposed to be unlocked"? It was locked to begin with and I assumed I could just buy a code and unlock it like any other phone.
Before trying to use a bought code, I had tried a testpoint unlock which did not work due to this being a new security model.
Unfortunately I can't take it back to Fido because I'm past their 15 day return policy.
There is a Youtube video of an identical problem to mine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aCxH2e47gY
I just want to verify if the new security MCUs are blocking the ability to use network unlock codes.

I don't really know how phones are being sold in Canada, but here in Finland you can just go and buy an unlocked phone. If it then turns out to be locked, of course they will have to unlock it for you.
Or, you can go and buy a phone with a subscription, in which case it may be locked to the carrier in question. YOYO if you switch carriers and still want to use the same phone.
I'm having the same problem with a Fido Xperia U, had 10 attempts initially, now down to 4 after going through an ebay seller mister unlock and now cellunlocker.net, both provided me the same unlock code but it doesn't seems to work.
Mine's a brand new phone, everything stock, I even tried to reflash the firmware with the Sony PC Companion even though I had the latest firmware already.
Same as this guy:

All right, that makes at least 4 confirmed cases of new 2012 Fido Xperias not being unlockable with purchased codes. Let's bring this up with Fido and Sony and see what can be done.

wow, this really is serious eh... I managed to sell that xperia in the end (locked). F*** Sony honestly.
if someone finds a solution please let me know.
I whiling to pay up to 30 CAD to unlock my phone.
I've just recently moved to xperia play and this whole change is confusing. There are new things to take note of, namely bootloader unlocking and fastboot.
I wanna ask if I could unlock my bootloader. I'm on 3.0.A.., and my Play is gsm, sold in singapore. There is no "root test" in service configuration.
First, welcome to the Xperia PLAY section. Second, if you do a search you will find countless threads in the PLAY section that detail what is required to unlock your bootloader and how. Mine was unlocked last summer but done in a way that is no longer available. Look up someone names (someone correct me if I get the spelling wrong) alejandrissimo. He will unlock your phone for $25 (dont know what that comes to in your countries currency) and by unlock I mean unlock it so that you have an unlocked bootloader and an unlocked sim, so you can use the phone with other carriers sim cards. The reason for the fee is not because he makes money off it, its because the software used to unlock bootloaders that alejandrissimo uses charges a fee of $25 to unlock aspects of the softwares use per each time. So he is not making any money off it but simply using it to unlock your phone and open it up to a new world of modding.
If you have more questions just a friendly reminder to do some searching in the Xperia PLAY section here first. You should find all the answers you need. Good luck and welcome to the XDA Xperia PLAY

AT&T usually requires 90 days after the phone was released before they should offer unlock codes just like they do with everything else which is coming up soon if I remember right. Also gotta remember if you want a sim unlocked phone buy a sim unlocked phone not one on a contract. Some people claim to have gotten a code from AT&T but others were told no.
I had bought one from ebay, unlocked LT28i prise is 500$ + , I will try cellunlocker unlock prise is 40 $

Thanks
Also one can try www.freeunlocks.com here select your phone model and then go for the "Get it free" option it will ask u to buy something buy the cheapest product which u may never wanna use. And they send u the unlock code or refund in case the unlock code does not work.
I have tried it for a samsung phone before it was available on ebay and got it very cheap. I want to try it again for my Xperia Ion but it does not allow me as there is no product with free trail option which can be used in India.
So guys try it and let me know. Also would like someone to help me with the unlock code if you are successful. Below is the link for Xperia Ion

1. a regular mini sim will work, you dont really need the micro sim adapter..
2.Yes you can unlock it, but you'll have to pay.. I used electrofrance on ebay, but there are other alternatives in this thread..
my phone is unlocked now
I bought this phone from walmart and tried to get Sony Xperia Ion LT28AT Unlock Code from At&t but they refused to me by saying that i m not the original owner of phone and as per them policy i m not eligible to get At&t Sony Xperia Ion LT28AT Unlock Code then found attphoneunlockingshop.us site and sent them request, Code worked like a charm. now my phone is unlocked and using with T-Mobile . Hello to all,
I bought in japan a beautiful SX Sony Xperia SO-05D (model TM28), just saw I'm loving it
on some forums before buying it said that I could use it with sim Italian, but not having a microsim below I could not test it in the store at the time of the problem is that it is obviously locked to the operator NTT-Docomo, it asks me to boot the SIM network unlock PIN ...:crying:
I tried looking at some posts here and a lot of damage as a solution to check on the Omnius site, the problem is that there is not listed on my model (which is quite recent: it is released in September), I sent him an email to see if is there any software release x my model, but I have not replied ...
Instead some web site told me to try between 3/4 weeks. then with about € 30 send me the code if available (we will have to trust ...?)
can anyone help me? maybe there is some common software unlock for sony mobiles...?
1000 Thanks to all!!
ale
P.S. I tried to check if it was hardlocked, next to the voice network does not give me the number of times missing and it says "Network unlimited" would mean that I can make as many attempts I want...?
Dear Member......
after waiting 7days time, i unlocked customer phone today in gsmfather.com...........
the phone was network unlimited, before entering code......
I have the same problem, Does anyone know if it's possible to unlock i for free, or have any recommended sites that can get you an unlock code?

If you mean you wish to unlock the device so it can be used on any network and carrier rather than it be just locked down to one, you are going to need something called a PAC code from the network the device was originally on they are usually free nowadays though some may still charge for the privilege depends where in the world you are. They can also be purchased online from places like eBay and Amazon for a few pounds though I've never tried that way as I've always phoned the network for the code if I've needed one.
