I recently bought the dongle and have had a issue with audio. I connected it first to my phillips lcd display. its a older model flat panel tv about 6 or so years old. I first got no audio until I switched over hdmi ports then I was able to get audio. I tried it next on my New TCL lcd display and it worked great. I then went back to the phillips thinking maybe it was a issue with the connection the first time, no luck I got audio briefly but lost connection and also lost audio when it did connect. So I am guessing since it works fine with my newer model tv that if you do run into this issue that it will be the tv not the dongle. Please update me if you find this do be wrong or find a solution
good luck thanks for having me on your forums
Hi,
From what i remember there was an update posted on google play for the all share app, this was meant to fix audio issues if i remember correctly. Try going on google play and checking for updates. Personally i don't use it, but its just a thought.

As far as I know I am up to date I looked into the update 2lj I believe and I have it already. I am not really looking for a solution b/c I have troubleshooted and I am pretty confident the problem lies with the tv. I am putting it out there b/c I know for some running into this issue it is very annoying and there seems to be no resolutions out there so I figured I'd post up for people on the search . If there is a solution I would like to hear it though so thank you for the reply
Hi,
I just got my Fire TV set up. Used Smart DNS Proxy as part of wifi set up. Installed Netflix. When I open netflix and login using login credentials, the app crashes. I can't go beyond login screen.
I can stream Prime videos, crackle etc but not Netflix.
1 click settings is correctly set on Amazon account. I have tried deleting data and cache of all the apps installed and restarted the fire tv but couldn't succeed. I even tried resetting the fire tv but it didn't help either.
Any help is appreciated.
Is there anyway I can enable some logging to see why Netflix is crashing?

I see that you have provided a zip update to fix Netflix. Unfortunately, I am on the 51.1.4.0_user_514006420 version so I can't root my fire TV. Is there anyway I can apply your Netflix fix on this version?
Attaching the logcat output. Any help is appreciated.

I was hoping that downgrading the Netflix app might work for me. I uninstalled the latest Netflix app and installed the old app http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FLJ1CFM/?tag=aftvn-20. But, when I open the old app, it asks me to upgrade to the new version.
I am not able to use Netflix at all. I hope some one can come with a solution soon.
Found 2 error lines related to Netflix. I searched for those and both lines are sometimes related to orientation issues. Might not be related to your issue, but figured I will throw this out to you:
Do you have any apps loaded to change orientation on your FTV?

No, it is a new box. I have tried resetting the box and installed only Netflix. Even then it didn't work.
Netflix is updated to 1.1.1 build 125. I am facing the same issue on this version of Netflix as well. Raised a ticket with Amazon. It's been a week. Doesn't look like they have been progressing much on my issue.
I hope some one here will be able to help me fix the netflix issue.
Attaching the log from the new version of Netflix.
As expected, Amazon and Netflix said they don't support the issues when Netflix is accessed outside US, UK and Germany. Looks like I just need to wait for new firmware releases on Fire TV and/or new version of Netflix to see if it ever works.
I hope some one from here can help me with the issue that I am seeing. Or some one finds a way to root the latest version of the firmware so that I can install some custom firmware or older version of the firmware to fix the Netflix issue.
This issue was because of HDMI-CEC issue!
I disabled the HDMI-CEC and restarted the Fire TV and Netflix is working like a charm.
Netflix is crashing again after the latest Fire TV update. This is so frustrating.
you're not alone
i'm in US and just receive my amazon fire tv stick
software update being done automatically during setup, so it's up to date
netflix is not pre-installed, so i install from store ver.1.1.1 build 125
the app crashses straight away after login using login credentials
Thanks for your reply. It worked for me couple of times but 99% of the time it didn't work me. Raising a ticket with Amazon didn't help either. They are clueless!
The status as of today is it is not working.
I sideload latest netflix ver.3.8.3 from google playstore and netflix working
However since this netflix version for tablet, then fire remote won't work on this version
I'm going to call netflix and escalate this issue
Are you getting HD on the side loaded app?

It was on Gothom running fine and i completely uninstalled gothom and did a sideload of Kodi. I installed all the repo.. When watching a show the unit has become extremly slow and it is always buffering.. Not sure if it the site or the unit and something wrong with it.. Is anyone else having this issue.

I am using Kodi and it is working fine but i have rooted my fire tv so i am not using stocked amazon latest firmware so i am not sure if the latest stock firmware updates from amazon caused kodi to be slowed. I would check the basic things, internet connection speed, clear cache, apply the 0 cache setting to resolve the buffering. Also try to run the sames addon and shows or movies you watched on AFT on another device to see if you have the same issue. This will help you eliminated if it is a device issued or the issue is across the board, it could be the source it self is slow.
If you are wi fi try Ethernet is always best. if nothing helps, you can always remove kodi and install gotham or use SPMC or TVMC both are on amazon app store (free).
Sometime different version do slow things down when it comes to xbmc, I can tell on raspberry PI when i upgraded from Frodo to gothom, it was really really slow so i re installed Frodo.
Thank you
you need the zero cache mod to fix the buffering but tbh i had issues with kodi and tried all the build
i installed spmc ...have had 0 problems ..honestly 0
installed super repo too for my add ons and its brill working no flaws

BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO CONTRIBUTED!!
For first time AFTV rooters:
DO NOT SKIP this ROM version and install it: 51.1.4.0_514006420-rooted+updated
Launch Netflix and make sure it works
Now, upgrade to 51.1.4.1_514013920-rooted+fixed
Launch Netflix and make sure it works
Again, first time AFTV roots, DO NOT go straight to the latest version of the custom ROM. Doing so may cause your Netflix to have this issue.
Rbox is aware of this issue and recommends this workaround. Thank you to Rbox for all your hard work!

Ive found if I was watching Kodi or another app was running prior, I would have to force stop through the installed apps and then Netflix would resume video operation after.

Yes, I'm running Kodi...why?
I've tried to use Netflix by launching thru Kodi and also by launching from the AF Launcher, and both of them have the same issue?

I have the same issue on both my aftvs. It's really irritating. But for me a reboot fixes it every time. I can't pinpoint what triggers it. Doesn't occur every time but force quit xbmc then launching Netflix, force quit Netflix then try again--nothing stops the bug from occurring if it's gonna happen, but like I said, a reboot fixes it for me.
ive seen this type of error on prime videos after leaving kodi without stopping the video. If your kodi keymap for the remote is not stoping the video playback when pressed and you leave kodi, it will casue problems , probably because the audio/video "pipes" are still being used by the video in kodi that was not stopped . SPMC does this by default.

I've tried rebooting two ways:
1. Using remote control
2. Unplug, wait 10 secs, plug back in
But neither methods will fix Netflix for me

It's too early to tell but I tried one of the fixes in your op.
1. Amazon video--clear data 3 times
2. Unplug, wait 10 secs, replug
*and I had to add 3rd step because after that Netflix would keep loading and Amazon prime gave "unknown error"
So...
3. Restart aftv by holding play and select.
Like I said, it's too early, but I will say both Amazon and Netflix videos are loading a lot faster. The Amazon video I selected seemed to start instantly (no spinning circle)
Try logging out of your Netflix account and re-entering your credentials. . .I sometimes get this from my smart tv and the only fix is to re-log in.

That didn't work for me. Netflix has been really buggy on fire os for me. For awhile it would log me out completely and I'd have to sign back in multiple times daily. BUT it's been over 24 hours since I applied the fix I mentioned in my last post and neither of my aftvs have had issues! Hopefully that did it...

Thanks, I tried that and it still doesn't work. Weird thing happened to me though, my XBMC / Kodi got reset to all of its default settings. Luckily, all of my add-ons were unaffected.
i had the same thing recently, turns out it was a dodgy hdmi cable. i found the cause by trying to play a prime video after trying to play a netflix video.
prime indicated that there was a problem with the hdmi cable, after replacing the cable netflix and prime both now work fine, i hope this helps..

Well that fix lasted 2 full days but now it's back. Outside chance my tinkering (trying to get samba working properly) cause it but that's a little far fetched. It's not the hdmi cable. I'm actually using a brand new one that came with the Wii U.
The bedroom aftv also had trouble playing Netflix last night.
Specs-wise this is the best set top box I ever owned. When it's running well it's awesome. But overall it's easily the least stable streamer I've ever had...and that's a long list of devices. Got a old roku xd (maybe 15 bucks on eBay) I plug it in and can count on it to work all the time. It's not as fun as aftv but thinking about putting it on the side of bedroom aftv so my wife doesn't get angry when she wants prime or Netflix.
I am watching this thread hoping you guys would find a reason/solution for this issue. I am emphatic to the problems you are having but am also a little surprised at them because I am NOT running into any of this issues with any one of my 3 FTV's. Fingers crossed
All of my FTV's are rooted and they run XBMC, Netflix, Amazon Prime. I don't even bother shutting XBMC down or rebooting the AFTV. Netflix just works. O, btw, I am running pre-rooted 51.1.4.0_514006420 firmware on all of them. Once in a while (maybe once every 10 days) Netflix will have the error message saying "We're having trouble playing this title right now. Please try again", all I do to get it to work again is to exit the app then restart Netflix or sometime I may need to login again and that's it.
Good Luck and hope you find a solution. Have you try rebooting your router ?

I do not think it is Fire TV? The fact that I have had it on more than one device proves that. Somehow the authorization cache is getting corrupted? When I clear the data and reauthorize it seems to correct it until it corrupts again? My network reboot is just a extra step to be sure. The only other thing I can think of , It seems to be associated with devices that remain on(standby only?)

I don't see how that would help but it's worth a try. We have Netflix running perfectly fine on these devices, which are on the same home network:
desktop HTPC
m17x R4
m14x R2
Samsung Note 4
Samsung Note 3
Samsung Note 10.1 2014
Inspiron 3147
PS3
Asus Chrome Box
The ONLY device we have EVER gotten this error on is the AFTV. So, I'm inclined to think it's an issue with the AFTV.

Bollucks! I tried rebooting my router and it still gives me the same error
This is very frustrating. Netflix works perfectly fine on all of our other devices except for this AFTV. Makes me wonder if Amazon has some deliberate bugs in it so you are forced to use Prime, which works perfectly.
So after seeing so may folks having issue with netflix, i decided to try and i did not have any issues.
However, this morning when i tried to watch a free episode on prime i get "Unknown error", i got the same error message when i tried to watch a movie trailer so few min later i tried again to watch the episode and it worked fine but now when i try to watch a movie trailer i get messages "Your internet connection is really slow, blah blah, blah" with the open watch later or keep watching, when i select keep watching i get cursor that keep going in circle but the preview never plays.
i did test my speed and i am getting at least 18mbps download and 11mbps upload speed, not the fastest but it is more than fast enough to watch full HD movies.
There is definitely something wrong, probably some firmware bugs, i am running pre-rooted 51.1.4.0_514006420 updated.
Thank you

This is not yet entirely resolved even in 51.1.6.3, unfortunately. I am using an Onkyo receiver and could only get things working again by reverting to 51.1.6.0. For me, at least, going to 1.6.0 did the trick.
I have just spent half a day figuring out why retroarch goes black when trying to play a game. The reason is this hdcp protection that is still present in 5.2.1.1.
I had my aftv connected to a dvi monitor with a hdmi -> dvi connector. Everything worked fine, except retroarch to play games. By chance I plugged it into another monitor with a propper hdmi port, then everything works.

Not sure if this option will help. Should be part of the newest update that began to rollout this week.

Also, maybe there is a system app or service that handles this that you might be able to disable.
