Interesting thing on T989 - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I wanted to use MIUI V7 on my T989, but there was no MIUI V7 ports. So I tried to flash I727 MIUI V7, since i727 has similar(almost identical) hardware specs. After first reboot just after flashing i727 ROM, it booted, but nothing happened later. I supposed that if I flash i727 rom without t989 kernel, I would end up with dead boot. However, since it gives me bootloop, I would need to do some research to find out how to manage it to boot properly.

use t989 kernel

That MIUI Rom is based on CM11, edit zip file with hercules CM11 updater-script and boot.img, it may work... or not

Tried Sultan Kernel and cm11 nightly kernels for t989, after flashing the rom. It does not boot...

I would try it soon, and tell about the result afterwards. However, trying most of conventional porting methods, which replaces files, does not manage T989 to boot on MIUI V7.

So tonight I tried replacing files from T989 CM11 on that MIUI ROM for i727. It boots, but it is virtually "unusable" since every app shows force close. I think I need to edit framework related jar files.

I tried to add miui resources to framework-related jars, but after replacing smail, it led to bootloop.

[ROM] seeARMS' XWJV1 Gingerbread BETA - Voodoo Kernel [3/5/11] [v0.1]

Hey all,
Here's a custom ROM based on XWJV1 with a focus on speed and stability. Nothing too special; it's just a stock, unthemed, deodexed, optimized Gingerbread BETA ROM with some minor modifications.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a BETA ROM running on a BETA KERNEL, so I don't recommend installing this ROM if you're afraid of breaking your device / don't know how to use ADB / get upset when your phone crashes. This ROM is smooth, sleek, and looks damn good too, however, again, this is a BETA ROM, so there are going to be bugs on any ROM based on JV1. Don't complain.
Features:
Voodoo Gingerbread Beta Kernel
Based on Stock Gingerbread Beta XWJV1
Fully deodexed and zipaligned
Fixed build.prop, permissions for launch_GPS, as well as many other minor file tweaks
Removed Samsung Bloatware
Removed Startup + Shutdown sounds
Fully updated Google Apps + Swype
Gingerbread screen-off animation (Very cool. )
Removed Apps:
-Allshare, Press Reader, Aldiko eBook, Buddies Now, Layar, Mini Diary, Write and Go
Added apps:
-Launcher Pro, Gingerbread Launcher, Gingerbread Keyboard
Download: http://www.multiupload.com/YFJTDTFVD0
Installation Instructions:
Flash from CWM after disabling all lagfixes. If you don't know how to install a ROM you shouldn't be using this one.
Have you got the new tweak by nickadeamus or whatever his name is?
Hi.
Just downloading will give a try.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
any screenshots please?
Just for the record, I bricked my i9000 GT. The bootloader gets messed up and I am now downloading a complete ROM to flash from heimdall.

Don't scare everyone man, your bootloaders are fine, your /system got corrupted resulting in a bootloop.
Corrupted bootloaders would mean either complete brick, or no 3BR
hi seearms just downloaded rom and installed jl2 modem everything fine so far, but time will tell. i was on ultibread when i came to yours so it was an easy transfer
Switched from a fresh stock 2.2, strangely i got the glitched screen when trying to enter recovery. Any suggestions? I see advice to flash boot.bin but I've not flashed JV1 prior to this so it can't be a bootloader problem.
Thanks.
Just wondering can this be installed from cwm if your current rom is froyo?
Ready to Test Drive
Really Eager to Try this ROM
Downloading now...

To install ultibread I flashed jv1 via odin, then unchecked auto reboot and flashed a hardcore kernel pulled the battery, rebooted into CWM and flashed ultibread as a zip from the sdcard . Should be the same procedure here, good luck!
I've been running your rom since yesterday and so far it's great with the JL2 modem. Highly recommended thus far...stable and fast like u said and even faster after enabling lagfix

Flash JV1 via Odin first, I believe it's the secondary boot loader in non-JV1 ROMs which causes screen tearing in recovery.

Good job seeARMS! I am going to wait a bit for and update before I jump in to this one as my i9000m is running so bloody fast on Darky's Extreme v9.3 that I don't want to mess with it. hahaha
I am going to try it though. I support you and your roms.
Fugu tweak by nickadeamus is gingerbread mod for froyo only. Not for gingerbread rom

Technically Nikadeamus said that it "may" work on GB but hasn't tested it.
EDIT: Some users with JV1 claimed to have noticed only a slight improvement if any at all. However, it may just be plain old placebo at work.

[Q] Bell rom with PDroid?

Hi all! I have a i747 galaxy S3. I've been looking and flashing a few roms that is PDroid patched, but so far no luck.
Most roms are based on AT&T or Sprint, and when I install it, I get a bunch of crap that I don't need and the phone screen rotation is f*cked(If I turn the phone left, the screen rotates right and vice versa)
So much questions is, which ROM can I install that has PDroid already in it?
I tried patching a rom by my self but when I install it and use PDroid Manager, it says that it's not installed.
I'm using this ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317259
and I use ApG on it to PDroid patch it, I get a bunch of source errors but it does generate me a .zip
Any luck?
Thanks!

Idk much about PDroid but can't you just install it on any ROM? Here is their thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1357056
Also, don't flash Sprint ROMs on your AT&T.

Does paranoid android rom supports PDroid?

For what I can read off their thread, PDroid was made for GB (2.3.4) and the dev hasn't logged on XDA since nov 2012. Would probably explain why it's not working. Seems to be a app problem, not ROM.

[Q] Sprint Galaxy S III Dual Boot?

I've seen some videos of somebody using Siyah Kernel to dual boot on the S3. As far as I know, this kernel only works on the international version. I was just wondering if it would be possible to use a Rom Manager of sorts to boot between 2 different roms such as Stock Touchwiz and CM 10.1. I've already flashed CM before but it's a pain to switch between Touchwiz and CM by having to restore everything everytime.
Thanks

There is no such thing as a "random aosp rom".
If you really need help, please include as much specific information as you can as to what you want to achieve.
Good luck!
Well, I have a ROM on my m919 Samsung Galaxy s4 called "Google edition s4". Here's the link to the ROM development:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341026
So, when I installed the ROM, it also installed an i9505 kernal and replaced it from the "SGH-M919" kernal.
What I want to do, (because of a number of reasons) is install the Cyanogenmod 10--i9505 kernal onto my Phone, (NOT THE ROM!) just the kernal from it (Through ODIN).
Can this be possible, or would this potentially mess up my phone, by installing a different ROM's kernal onto another ROM?

A Google Edition ROM in looks like pure AOSP, but in fact it's kernel is touchwiz, if you flash a as you refer "CM10 kernel" by what I assume you mean AOSP kernel, then you'd probably either brick or soft brick your phone. so...be careful!

Yeah, the first time I flashed a GPe ROM I mistakenly flashed an AOSP custom kernel. It'll just hang the phone on the SGS4 until a TW kernel is flashed.

So then, I should install my TW kernal.
More specifically on what I am doing...
I want to edit the drivers on (apparently a TW kernal) to where I can connect a Wireless adapter to use with Ubuntu chroot to do (what's in the picture). How do I edit the driver configuration on this kernal? (LINK)

MIUI V5 ROM KitKat 4.4.2[Touchwiz] Version: 4.11.3(V5)

Rom is developed by a Chinese developer and all credit goes to him and i personally very thank full to him.
And like to many Thanks to the Developer of Echoe Roms, only his developed kernel works very fine for my M919 with MIUI ROM
I got this Rom from official MIUI website, as Galaxy S4 I9505 custom roms can be flash on S4 M919 Tmobile version but all we need to look for Kernel to boot the rom and work flawlessly, so i have flashed this rom which is generated for I9505 on my Galaxy S4 Tmobile M919 but few issues were there from which wifi was not working so spending time on net and look for kernel and flashed few but could not get working one and then finally got one which works like charm. Rom is totally in English after Selecting English language for first boot
I am using this rom from one week and almost every thing works
Calling
Bluetooth
SMS
Camera
NFC
Wifi
Wifi Direct
GPS
and i am pretty sure others must be too
I love MIUI and i was happy to get MIUI for my M919 so like to share this rom who love to have MIUI on there Android devices
Flashing Method
Flashing method is same like we use to flash every rom, only after flashing rom do not reboot, flash Kernel first and then reboot.
I am using TWRP v2.7.1.0 and others recoveries will work too
I have change my model number in my Build.prop file, because it will show I9505 and you guys can do it too, just google it, it easy
