I noticed recently when viewing images on the Facebook app they are super low resolution (720x479). I previously would upload images directly to Instagram from Facebook but I now find them far too low res to do so. When did Facebook implement this change to the app and is there any way to reverse it or use an older version? Images viewed on the Facebook mobile and desktop sites are full resolution (2048px width) but all images on the app are now shown at a lower resolution. This is with a Verizon Galaxy Note 4 and the same appeared true on my girlfriends T-Mobile Note 4.

When using the dialer it looks like the phone is just increasing the size of low resolution photo that was synched to the contact.
Is there a way to increase the resolution so the photos can look better?
Is the problem with the contact photo resolution limit imposed by the way the contact cards were designed? I ask this because when browsing through your contacts the small thumbnail looks great, but when using the dialer it looks like the thumbnail the the required resolution and the large photo in the dialer is just a zoomed in version.
Maybe I'm not being clear but i think i got the point across.
Hi..
I just got a HTC HD7..
Just a quick questions about the pictures that I have assigned on the tiles..
For the pictures that I assigned on the tiles eg. Contacts, Me and Pictures tiles..
The pictures turn out to be low res..
Even the people tile also has low res pictures..
Is that normal?
Any workaround?
I noticed this too. I thought it was because I have my contacts synched from my Google account that did this.
I noticed that if I make a new contact and instead of using my Google account and set it to Windows Live, and add a picture, the quality of the contact tile picture seems a bit higher.
This is the same issue as what I've encountered using iPhone too. I suspect its because when you set a profile pic within Outlook, the picture is auto downsized to a lower resolution.
However, if you set the picture via iphone itself for example, it will store and continue to use the new higher res pic
I did try to assign the picture from my gallery.. The picture was high res for some time.. After that it reverted to low res..

i have seen the same in my mozart also.
Specially for incoming calls.
Even though I have added a new contact and assigned a pic to him using the pic captured from the 8 mp cam on Mozart (Which is pretty crisp and clear) when the contact calls me I see a low resolution pic coming in my screen..
Hope this is something MS would be able to sort out in their updates
I read that one of the features of JB is high-resolution contact photos. I'm on JB now but I don't seem to be able to make high-resolution contact photos appear on the People app. I tried changing the contact photos on Google through a computer but after sync the photos still appear blurry in the People app of my GNex. I know I can get a high resolution photo to appear by changing them directly on my phone by selecting an image in Gallery, but this trick has been around since ICS. So what does 'high-resolution contact photos' mean in JB?
From what I have experienced, the first time you set up your contact photos from the contacts app (i.e. going into the contact --> edit --> set picture from gallery) google will keep that high resolution picture backed up in it's database. So let's say you set up your contacts, wipe your data, and load a new or stock rom. Then your contact app will repopulate the original high-res images you set in the first place, not the 256x256 resolution or whatever that they used to keep backed up before JB.
Hello, I am running InsertCoin on my phone and I noticed that when I view my contact pictures, they have a dotted effect. It looks ugly
Help plz.
This occurs on stock ROM if your settings are set to just download the low resolution of your contact picture. Standard setting is to download full resolution pictures just if you are syncing on wlan.
I get this issue as well on contact where I just have a small resolution picture of them on my Google account.

I am coming from the GP4, and here's my issue. When I utilize an app such as Facebook Messenger, Telegram, and select a photo it automatically defaults to pulling the photo from the Samsung Gallery. Well, when I had a GP4, it would pull from Google Photos regardless, even if the image wasn't local, it would download it from the server and send. There's no way to change the default galleries app that I know of. Does anyone have a workaround for this? Is it changeable?
There's also the issue of taking a photo or video with the default camera app and if you happen to remove the Samsung Gallery APK through the console, pressing on the preview bubble of the just taken picture or video results in an error popup that there is no gallery app installed even though I have Google Photos installed.
I wish Samsungs version of Android would be more open and not so limited to their "core" apps.
