Amazon Fire TV - flickering screen - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have my new (Oct 2015) Fire TV plugged directly into my television and the screen is constantly flickering/flashing white and sometimes cuts out altogether for a brief second. Clicking something on the remote stops the flickering for about 5-10s before it starts up again.
I've tried replacing the HDMI cable and adjusting the video resolution but the issue continues. I contacted Amazon and they very nicely sent me a new device, but I'm getting the exact same behavior with the new one.
Video playback is actually fine, unless I pause it - then it starts flickering again.
I've used other media players with the HDMI port on my TV and haven't had any issues at all. Is there something different about the output of the FireTV that my TV just doesn't like?
Any ideas?

[Q] A100 as nettop

Hi guys.
I am considering buying an A100 tab (at about 239€ now).
Can it be used also as a nettop? I plan to connect it to TV via HDMI and connect a bluetooth logitech mediaboard (keyboard + touchpad).
So my questions about A100 are:
1) can the screen be turned off when using HDMI connection? (I do not want to have screen light on)
2) what is the HDMI resolution?
3) Does it work with no problem with bluetooth keyboard and mouse? (I suppose it's only question of OS)
4) is the standard performance OK? (popular games as GTAIII etc.), video playback, browsing)
5) does anyone have experiences with the dock? What are the dock advantages over using a plain HDMI cable?
Thanks a lot in advance.
When connected to a TV via HDMI, if the screen is off on the tablet then the screen will also be off on the tv. Youtube videos will not play if the screen is off. Music (Pandora, iHeartRadio, etc) will play with the screen off. Connected to my TV, there is no letterboxing, it may be different on your TV. The very top and bottom of the tablet screen are cut off when displaying on my TV, due to the slightly different aspect ratios.
I've attached a picture of my tablet screen showing on my tv. My current wallpaper has a pixelated look to it, hence it will also look pixelated on the tv screen. I tested the output from the tablet to the tv screen using a Netflix video before and the picture quality was high, however I cannot recall my Netflix password at this time to take a picture and show you at this time.
Read the posts in the accessories section for info about bluetooth keyboards and mouses. Posts in the themes and apps section can give you more info about games. I play GTA III occasionally and have noticed no issue. I have no issues with the browser or watching videos, I use ICS Browser +.
Have you considered getting a netbook for what you are trying to accomplish? You can connect to the tv via hdmi, close the lid and still have a display on your tv screen.

Youtube App on Fire Stick - every video starts up with audio issues...

So I just recently got an Amazon Fire Stick and wanted to use it for Youtube viewing. Even though I can watch 1080p shows on Amazon Prime and Netflix without issue, every Youtube video I've tried starts out with audio skipping. It always corrects itself after a second or two but I rather it never happens. Anyway else experience this? It's like it's only buffering video first and then audio tries to catch up afterwards.
Also, every so often there is a video where the audio is not sync'd properly. Plays fine on all other devices.
I've noticed the same on my Fire TV Stick - after a while you start to get stuttering too and then picture freezing.
It's been a consistent issue for me on my FireTV Stick. However it's also a regular issue on my EETV box and occasional issue Now TV Box, and Roku Streaming Stick.
However YouTube is the only app on the three platforms (Now TV being a re-branded Roku) with the issue - BBC iPlayer, UKTV Player, ITV Hub*, All 4*, Google Play Movies*, Now TV*, TVPLayer Plus*, Wuaki TV, Freeview connect (e.g. CCTV, Box+, Motors TV, Vintage TV)*, Amazon Instant Video, Vimeo, Flixster, My5, TVPlayer, Tune In all manage to play without stuttering!
* Apps only on EETV/Roku.
Of all those platforms the UI is most responsive on the Fire TV (only since Fire OS 5 - it used to be the worse) but video and audio playback are best on the Roku (i.e. the least audio stuttering or buffering)

Screen Dim - stick

Has anyone else noticed if the picture produced by their Fire TV Stick looks dimmer than other streaming sticks and boxes? I have a Samsung BluRay player connected to the same TV. In general the picture looks dimmer on the FireTV stick.
I actually have the opposite the fire stick and ftv2 seem to confuse the my DCR settings and backlight on my lcd and amplify the white point rather than mute it. We should trade tvs :/ i hate all lcd tvs dont have multi user or smart presets (per input or day/night/time).
Mine is widespread and not just a xbmc or amazon video issue. But i suppose your fix is the reverse of mine and use your tv settings to calibrate your white point DCR/backlight (notoriously high on samsung).

Fire Stick loses Sound

My firs stick is a little over a year old. I have it plugged in and when I watch Netflix or Hulu the show will just pause itself and then when I play it again there will be no sound. I have to get up and unplug it from the HDMI port and plug it back in and then it'll only play for a few minutes before it does it again. Sometimes it'll do it on the home screen when you can hear the "clicking" when going from app to app. My tv is about 8 years old so my question is if it is the firestick, netflix/hulu, or just my tv?

Fire stick TV continues to stream Hulu Live after TV is shut off

I've got 8 fire stick tvs in the house and we use Hulu and almost always stream live tv. When some of the tvs are shut off streaming stops while with many others the fire stick continues to stream after the tv is turned off. Crazy data consumption! I know that if we hit the Home button first the streaming will stop but is there any way to just stop streaming on the 4 tvs that continue?
work around
I used to power my ChromeCast using the USB port on my HDTV.
That worked until I added my FirestickTV.
I now use a "smart power strip" and the ChromeCast/FirestickTV only receive power if the HDTV is turned on.
IDK if there's a setting to power down the FireStick if the HDMI connection is null/dead but good luck!
It sounds like it may be a HDMI CEC issue.
