Question: I'm about to unlock my Note 5 via AT&T giving me the unlock, once I unlock my device will I be able to root the device as if it were any other note 5 root? Or am I stuck with this AT&T root problem because I bought the AT&T model?
you are stuck

Maybe I have missed it somewhere in the forums but I'm looking at upgrading out of my note 3. I lost root a while back. Now in my search for the next rootable phone I've come across a lot of UNLOCKED NOTE 4 VZW . What does that mean when it comes to root-ability? I understand you can unlock bootloader and you can unlock sims. What does it mean to advertise a unlocked phone and will it be rootable.

Be careful when buying an "unlocked" Note 4 (or any phone for that matter). The only model of the Note 4 than can be rooted is the Developer Edition. I suspect the term "unlocked" as used on Swappa means "SIM Unlocked", not bootloader unlocked. Only the Developer Edition Note 4s have an unlocked bootloader.

Thank you that was my suspicion from all that I read. I appreciate the confirmation:good:
Do all Verizon Note 4 devices have the emmc chip with the CID starting with a 15?
If I buy one that has recently been updated whatever is the latest firmware and security update , can I still downgrade it to 5.1.1 and root it?
I want to be able to unlock the bootloader and root it.
I am wondering if it is possible to root and unlock the bootloader for the P605V (Verizon) with the method that was released the Note 3 and Note 4?
I rooted the P605V long ago, but would like to try to unlock bootloader using the method for the Note 3 and Note 4. However, I am unsure if it would work because I am no dev. Has anyone tried it or do you think the method could be modified to work for the P605V?
Here are the links to the Note 3 and Note 4 methods.

Hi @Nappyloxs
Any luck with this?
any updates?
Hello, I'm semi new to the root process (I've rooted my s4,s6 and s7). My only thing with the s9 is that I find threads saying that you cant unlock the bootloader on the u.s model s9. When I Google how to unlock the bootloader I find that all you need to do is OEM unlock and bam its unlocked. I have taken no further steps past that because I need to verify of that actually unlocks my bootloader. I'm looking to get magisk running on this phone. My question is if its possible?
Purchased a Samsung SM-T807A (AT&T) Galaxy Tab S 10.5" off of Facebook Marketplace and just assumed that I would be able to install a custom recovery and rom, but apparently it has not had its bootloader unlocked.
Is there a team that I could donate money or resources to in order to hack up a bootloader unlock for this device? Or is it basically just another paperweight since it will no longer be able to receive updates.
Isn't it ATT that locks the bootloader?
Bootloader lock was introduced with the Galaxy S5 and this tablet is probably older than the S5 since mine didn't have a bootloader lock
