Hey guys,
So okay, I am having an issue and have not been abe to solve it for a week now. Allow me to start...
I have the sony MDR-1RBT headphones. I've had them since last February and have used them without any problems. Connection, set up, and usage has always been a breeze. Until recently.
I started my day and connected my headphones like usual and it said they were connected. Cool. Went to play music and it played through my phone. Not sure why. Tried to make a call, audio went through bluetooth device. So they say they are connected and playing through the bluetooth device but is clearly is not.
Things I have tried to fix it:
power cycling phone and headphones
disconnecting and reconnecting bluetooth connection
gone into device settings and made sure media was checked for my bluetooth device
researched through the internet
followed what the person on this link suggested: http://forums.androidcentral.com/ge...r-playing-note-2-music-but-does-do-calls.html
The last step, when I tried it it connected! Yay! Then I turned the headphones and bluetooth off and went to turn em on again and it went back to not working. Tried the same method and it didnt work.
I am running on an LG G2 Rooted but not ROM'd. I know the issue is not with my headphones because I tried to connect the device to my Jawbone Jambox and it did not work on that either. I am not sure why it is not working.
I consider myself pretty tech-savvy and I am pretty upset that I haven't been able to figure it out. Let me know what you guys think.
When you go to your phone bluetooth setting with a list of paired devices, do you see 1RBT listed in there as "connected to phone and media audio"? This is very important because it sounds like it's only connected to phone but not media audio.
Do you have any other bt devices you paired up with your phone? Like wireless speaker or another set of headphones? Quite often if you have a few with power, there will be a race condition which one gets connected as media. But since you said music was playing through your phone speaker, I assume there is not conflict with another device. But nevertheless, just delete all your previously paired up devices in Bluetooth list to make sure there is no conflict. Remove 1RBT as well. After you remove everything, reboot the phone, and do a fresh pair up with 1RBT. See if that helps?
Also, try to pair up these headphones with another device, either phone or a tablet to make sure there is no issues with bluetooth radio on your phone. If you have access to another bluetooth device, try to pair it up with your phone to make sure everything is working as expected.
Let me know the results, and we will go from there.

I come from the philippines and i have the g3 also. my bluetooth connection was fine it connected to my car and headset but now it only receives calls but does not play music through my bluetooth headphones. when i press the play button on my headset it plays on the device itself. checked under bluetooth setting and call and media and audio was checked.
my device is rooted. i did a factory reset but the problem remains unfixed. please help. i have installed g3 tweaksbox but i dont see any mods that is related to music apps. i dont know what to do. i have considered unrooting and flashing stock rom.
I was having the same problem until I realized the volume on my jawbone itself was turned down.
Vectron's Suggestion Worked For My Bluetooth Headphones
I was heaving the same issue as the OP all morning. My Beats66 Bluetooth headphones were working just fine since I got my Alcatel Idol 4, with Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) phone through wireless provider CricKet, just 2 days ago. I primarily purchased the headphones for placing phone calls, just because most Bluetooth headsets I have purchased, and Android phones in general, are too low volume for my impaired hearing to make out. However, I do listen to music on them as well.
This morning as I am exiting a taxi, I hear music coming from my backpack. Somehow, something launched one of my music apps, probably the buttons and screen were activated while items in the backpack pressed against them. The settings said Media and Phone were connected to Beats66, and the phone did come through the headphones only, but the music would only play on the phone's external speakers.
I found this thread from a Google search, and Vector's post was helpful for me. I went to Bluetooth settings and highlighted Beats 66 headphones, then selected "Forget." I rebooted the phone, paired the headphones, and all my music apps play through the headphones now. Lets see how long it lasts right? Since this is a brand new out of the box phone, I did install numerous Apps, all of which want user authentication, permissions, and countless settings and permissions to interact with other Apps and phone hardware. Hopefully with everything getting set up the way I like my phone, (I'm particular about everything, or I just find the phone annoying rather than a tool), I won't make anymore changes that will alter the operating status of the headphones.
Thank you
I am experiencing the exact same issue on my LG G3 with my Skull Candy Wireless headphones. The headphones pair and phone audio works, but Pandora, Google Music and any other streaming audio app plays over the phone speaker. I noticed that I received a Carrier OTA software update on Jan 17, 2017 and am wondering if that is when it may have charged. The only way to resolve it so far has been to clear the BT cache. This is temporary fix as when you attempt to pair again it is back to only phone audio and no music audio.
My headset is not working with music until you turn off the phone audio just to play music. My phone is Lenovo A2010-a and my headset is Nia X2. Please help

Ever get this resolved? Still having this issue and so far only fix for me has been using Ti Backup to nuke all the bluetooth data, rebooting and then it'll connect fine. I also have Skullcandy BT headphones. Trying my car's BT too to no avail. Same problem. I think this is the same issue: https: //forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/help/bluetooth-calls-media-audio-t2837471/page4
I ended up buying an Amazon Moto G4 as it is slated to get Android 7.0. I honestly believe it had something to do with the last security update LG pushed out. Since the G3 is not updating I will attempt to root and rom at some point though recent search seem to show the LG G3 can't be rooted.

I rooted mine fine with Kingroot. Get Kingroot, root, install twrp and flash supersu then delete Kingroot. Worked for me at least.
As far as this BT bug with the G3 I don't have anything better than the data wipe workaround so far, so good luck with the Moto.
Thanks guys. I also had the same problem but i restarted my phone and my music is just playing. Yah!!!!!!!!!!
If anyone has another Bluetooth device connected while using the moto 360, it causes the other Bluetooth device device to act very odd. My example was tested on 3 phones and 2 different cars and that while my phone is connected to the moto 360 and cars Bluetooth, the sound is all choppy and horrible from my phone. (not Bluetooth audio from my car) You can't even get directions from Google maps or Here because the moto 360 causes the volume from the phone to become all choppy. Even when the phone rings the volumes are choppy from the phone. Once I unpair my moto 360 everything is back to normal. Looks like others are having odd behavior as well when connecting Bluetooth speakers and using the moto 360 at the same time but I have not tested Bluetooth speakers.
Please help Motorola cause this watch is awesome
Maybe you shall email their support group to give the issue report. I plan to get moto hint.in furture but this issue may stop me.
That's a Bluetooth/Bluetooth Low Energy problem. I had the same issue ever since I started using a fitbit with my LG G2, which syncs via BT LE. The 360 compounded it. I recall someone suspected it had to do with the ble implementation in the android bt stack, but I don't recall the specifics
Using the 360, fitbit and uconnect car bluetooth all day yesterday with no issues.
Google play music streaming.
CBS streaming radio
On device music.
No issues.
Try doing that again but using Google now or Google maps and report back
Using LG G flex, Motorola DECK BT speaker and moto360 and wasn't having any audio issues either. Played music for hours at work.

Every morning I drive to work with my Nexus 5 connected to three devices and stream music without issue.
Audi BT for Phone
Griffin BlueTrip for BT Audio
Moto 360
On the way home, I stream MLB games (well, up until last week). I check traffic via Google Maps to see the fastest route and I never lose Audio.
In following these threads, there have been a few other things to keep an eye on:
The #1 culprit seems to be custom ROMS and Kernels.
Others have mentioned leaving wifi on. Android tries to connect to open wifi networks, even while driving, and that can cut out signal.
Not one issue with Bluetooth on my end,and I'm paired to my LG tone all day everyday.
S4, cm11, play audio through speakers w/o issue. Most likely an issue with phone/ROM/kernel/car system rather than the 360. I've had three different 360s so far (various RMAs) all work/worked fine with car Bluetooth audio.
No issues here with BT connectivity. I have M360 connected to my phone, and my phone connected to my car BT audio.
Stream music via Amazon Prime Music app, audio came out great
Navigate using Google maps and the direction was spoken via car audio clearly while M360 does prompt and vibrate for direction as well.
I have no issues. Nexus 5 connected to my Moto360 and factory head unit (2011 Camaro). I stream Pandora, Google Play, and have spoken notifications.
I had my 360 for 3 weeks every day I connect my HTC m8 to my car radio via blue tooth. At work I connect to Bluetooth headphones and listen to music for about 4 hours a day. I have not had a single issue like the one you describe.

I have the issue, but not playing music. Mine is with phone calls. This is with the watch paired to a stock LG G3. The phone calls start out okay but a minute or two in it gets all garbled on both ends.
No problems here with my Sprint note 3. Actually navigated a few days ago with maps and it was fine
Can't Bluetooth-tether my tablet to my phone while the watch is connected. Also, if I walk out of Bluetooth range of my phone, the watch either doesn't reconnect when I come back in range, or takes a very long time to do so.
Same issue..
I do have the same type of issue with intermittent audio over bluetooth while in my car. It's find if my moto 360 is turned off, but when it turns on it causes issues. I had the problem on the old Moto X and the newest Moto X. I found other threads reporting the same issue.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-360/help/bluetooth-interference-t2894972
I connect to my cars bt to and from work every day and have not experienced any issues. I'm using a stock 2013 Moto X 4.4.4 no root/mods.
My phone (LG G4) updated last night. Now when I try to connect via Bluetooth to my cars head unit the Bluetooth connects, disconnects, and reconnects over and over again. I tried restarting the phone several times and upaired the devices and paired them again several times with no help.
Any ideas??
Thanks
Phone is an LG G4. Forgot to put into original post.

I had this problem when I had more than one device paired over Bluetooth at the same time. For example, when I had my Fitbit paired with my phone and then I paired my phone with my car stereo, it connected and re-connected 3 or 4 times before it stuck. Since the update, I haven't re-paired by Fitbit. As a result, my phone pairs easily and the first time with my stereo.
I am having Bluetooth issues as well. Calls that I make from my car using the handsfree bluetooth built into the car (a 2015 car too) sound awful. It is garbled on both sides. It was fine before the marshmallow update on my G4. My wife's G3 got updated to marshmallow too, but it works fine in the car. My bluetooth headphones work fine too with the G4. Playing music over bluetooth in the car works too. It is just phone calls that are the problem. Unfortunately, it is a pretty big problem for me.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
Is there anyway to roll back without rooting?
Have you guys tried full factory wipe and repair everything again? There are a lot of things that could go wrong with Bluetooth. I have no problem with my 2013 car and my android wear watch. It was acting a bit weird before I applied the update!

So, somewhere in May I received the automatic update to Oreo 8.0. Hurray! Sadly though, that's when my bluetooth problems started:
It connects to my car, as normal. And I can make and receive calls, as always. But during the call my bluetooth connection with my car would just drop. If the person on the other end of the line is patient enough, I can just reconnect while driving and continue. But it will drop once each minute. It's very frustrating. This worked flawlessly before the update.
Funny thing is there are no issues at all when playing music of a portable speaker. I can even play spotify through my car's speakers without problems. The problem only presents itself during calls on the carkit. To make sure it's not the car, I tried some other phones. My wife's samsung, also with 8.0, worked perfectly. So does my daughters Iphone with IOS. My car is a Volvo C30 from 2012. It has built-in phone connectivity.
What I tried:
- Unpairing and pairing again.
- Hard reset. In combination with re-pairing.
- Using the developer options to use Bluetooth AVRCP 1.4. In combination with unpairing and re-pairing.
- Using the developer options to use Bluetooth AVRCP 1.5. In combination with unpairing and re-pairing.
- Disabling automatic bluetooth/wifi scanning in the location settings.
- It even went to the repair center for a different issue (unresponsive touch-screen) and the repair notes stated that they also installed the newest software. So I had hopes that this would resolve my carkit issue, but it didn't.
Do you guys know any more tricks for me to try?
I have an XA1 ultra with Oreo 8 as well (build 48.1.A.2.21) and I'm experiencing the same problems, but adding that mine disconnects also when streaming music. Other problem I'm experiencing after the Oreo update is that, when using my watch (LG G Watch R) paired with the phone, the sound streaming is just crap, with lots of jumps and bad audio quality. This is so frustrating that I'm seriously considering buying a new phone ( not from Sony, of course)
:crying:
Anyone?
Anyone having issues with audio not routing to Bluetooth earbuds? Only fix for me so far is to reboot the phone. But the issues comes back later or the next day.
It's strange too, I'll have issue with the galaxy buds pro not working for audio or phone calls but I switch to the Sony XM4 and it works for audio but not for calls. Reboot and both works again. I've tried unpairing and resetting Bluetooth and also the earbuds but nothing works except reboot of phone.
Network reset and try clearing the system cache.
Try swiping down once then hit media output and selecting the Bluetooth device there
not sure if these will help as well but these were the solutions i have done when i had bt issues. these are not in order by the way, but alternative solutions
1) clear the bt cache. unpair then pair again
2) i installed bluetooth audio widget
3) i once bought a jam loud buds from jb hi fi. it would drop out or it wouldn't connect at all to my fold. turns out it was still paired to my old samsung note 9. had to delete that pairing and it finally worked with the fold. didn't know some devices only paired with a phone once
4) bt version. i had an old bt remote used by my daughter. it paired with the fold but did not work. did some reading and the bt version of the remote could be the cause

Buds+ software and firmware* have given me a lot of trouble. A real pain. I'm running two N10+ N975U/N975U1's one on Pie the latter on 10.
These are the apps I load but they may not work on 11 or higher, don't know... In any case uninstalling then reinstalling may fix your issue if the network reset fails too. Firewall block "Apps (UID)10343" and Wearables Installation Manager. Keep them blocked or they will update... and you'll be repeating the process.
For all these apps they must have all their permissions enabled to open!!!
*if you have a pair of Buds+ do not upgrade their firmware! It trashed the sound in my one pair. Now they need reflashed...

done this, and the correct device was selected but no audio. Sometimes music audio works fine but not calls
Idk if this happens for you guys but I went to a sony showroom today and when I paired my mobiles with some soundbar units like sony HT-S40R, HT-G700 and HT-S500F and some other models soundbar all of them got this weird issue, we can hear the music but every 2 or 3 sec it feels like it stops and then resume ( on the music player app it's working normally) I though maybe because of my spotify app I tried Youtube, youtube music amd amp all of them gives the same weird results ... This was before rooting my phone ... Ofc after rooting it it's stil the same issue (Android 12 and 13) hopefully this happened with those specefics models and not with my earphones or headphones bluetooth
Also note my S21 ultra works perfectly with the models said above
