Chargers!?! Where?

Anyone have any good places (preferably Amazon Prime) to get a few replacement chargers (and car too) that will rapid charge the device?
Thanks in advanced... I looked through the past 3 pages of threads and didn't see anything.

The best chargers to use are the blackberry playbook chargers. Ive been using these things since the note 3 and they charge fast! They are like 15 dollars for 5 of them on ebay. OEM and all.

Do they actually "fast" charge the Note 4?

You can only get the "fast" charge with the charger that came with the phone, although my old S4 charger charges the phone pretty quick too. Not as fast tho!

I haven't used my car charger once since I got this phone, half of the battery lasts me all day easily...I forget that this thing runs on a battery sometimes lol.

Most people agree and you can google for more assurance that they charged faster than the oem note 3 chargers. Im not exactly sure how fast it charges compared to this new "fast charging technology" but literally they charge so quick because of the ratings INPUT - 100-240V OUTPUT - 5V 1.8A. I dont even use my oem note 4 charger, i just have one of these in each room and they are perfect. Just ebay 1.8a blackberry playbook oem charger. The wire is pretty long too so thats great.
Edit: i have nothing to do with this ebay post or anything like that but here is what youre looking for. Just look around on ebay you will see people who have them in 3x or 5x bundles for like under 15.00

Correct. The Motorola turbo chargers are the same thing just a different name. So you can use those as well.
As for the charger ratings. It actually needs to be 9volts 1.67amps. To quick charge. And also it needs to be able to change to 5v 2amps. Because quick charge actually changes voltage and amperage in the middle of charging and slows down in order to protect the battery.

In today's world.. its totally worth it. I wouldnt mind buying another battery in a few months to have my phone charged in an hour all the time.

That's true. As long as it slows down when it gets up to a certain percent it's probably not that bad anyway

You can always just buy another one and swap it out though
Deals for batteries sometimes go around 30 bucks so it isn't that bad. I usually buy 2 anyways so I can have one just in case, but I don't think that will be an issue with the fast charging on this phone.

I ended up buying the Verizon Fast Charge chargers. confirmed to work with fastcharge as they're basically quickcharge 2.0 chargers.
I bought the Car charger and a wall charger. Normal price is $35.00 apiece.

Charging speed

Great Charging
This is the first phone I have had that would actually increase the charge significantly while navigating using google maps in the daylight. And it increases pretty fast.

My Anker QuickCharge 3.0 charger got my G5 from 0 to 100% in ~75 minutes while on. The same charger port got my spare battery in the cradle fro 0 to 100% in ~3 hours (it only pulled 5V).
After lunch today, I plugged it into a USB 3.0 port on my Lenovo T430, and it got from 60 to 100% in under 30 minutes while pulling over 1.2 amps (way above spec).
I'm happily impressed!

That's simply not possible unless you are using a non QC 3.0 charger or bad lead.

I'm loving the charging speed. It's like night and day compared to the M9 I used to own.

Doesn't seem much faster than speed charge 2.0 at all to me

Remember the G4 had a bigger battery so its only obvious the G4 last longer. But luckily we can buy multiple extra batteries :good:

As has been discussed elsewhere, QC 3.0 doesn't boost speed much if at all over 2.0. Instead it provides a continuous range of charging voltages (or amps? or whatever) so that it can charge at just the right rate. This should heat the battery less and (in theory, no idea how true/noticeable this will be after a year of use) wear down the battery less because of it.

Screen off = no difference in speed
Try with screen on then 3.0 is 2-3x as fast as 2.0
This has made a massive difference in the car when my screen stays on.
3.0 charges at a solid 1A with screen on as oppose to 2.0 that only musters 0.3-0.6A depending on phone temperature. ?

has anyone here tried charging the G5 using a true usb type c fast charger? i wonder what the outcome might be.
i'll be sad if i have to buy separate chargers just for this phone. (in case i get any true usb type c devices in future i mean)

Qualcomm's Quick Charge goes outside the USB-C spec in order to be able to charge compatible Quick Charge devices faster (higher voltages when possible).
Dose this meet the USB-C spec, no... Would I be concerned about it, Not if I'm using a reputable QC charger and USB-C cable.

I'll be commenting on these cables and QC3.0 charging on my battery charging thread once I have more data. I have 2 QC3.0 USB wall chargers that I'm collecting data on now. These both have USB-A ports, so they need cable adapters.
But yes, early SPOILER @GottZ: The USB-C compliant cables (USB-A to USB-C) with the resistor limit the benefit of QC3 over QC2. But @stuart0001 does have a point with charging with the screen on.

I look forward to your findings.
After further experimentation, QC 2.0 will hit 1A with screen on when below 32deg. So I've found when screen on:
QC 2.0
<32 = 1A
32-35 = 0.6A
35-42 = 0.3A
>42 =? (I haven't tested yet)
QC 3.0 maintains 1A, certainly upto 42. Again, I've not tested higher than that.
This is all with the cable that came with the phone.

when talking about QC 2/3 you should also mention volt or just combine volts and amps to watts
just talking about amps is like saying A: has 2 inches Ampere and B: has 3 inches Ampere

USB-C chargers with QC3 work fine with the Pixel2XL?

Hi,
I have 2 chargers that I used with my older phone, both are QC3 compatible, USB-C port and 1 of them can deliver 5/9/12 volts.
no matter if I use 1 of them or the charger that came with the pixel2xl I see (in Ampere app) it always charging at around 5V and 1A.
does it mean that any of them is good? is it possible to charge it even faster?
the charging speed is pretty much ok I think.

QC3 will not do anything but charge at standard speeds. This device is power delivery. QC4 will be compatible with power delivery, but good luck finding a QC4 charger.

No. It comes with a Power Delivery charger, the phone is a Power Delivery device.
QC3 and below will charge at a standard (slower) speed. QC4 is compatible with QC and Power Delivery - but, at this time there is no QC4 chargers, oddly.

He said many other things, too.
I think constantly charging with the screen off helps with the charging speed. It shouldn't, but reading other threads has me thinking this. I also, think his phone is faulty.
He also said he thinks the speed is ok.

For the heck of it, I tried the OEM charger with the Ampere app, and it was showing basically 5v at 1 amp. Tried the usb A port on my power strip that does 5v at 2.4 amps, and it read the same 5V at 1 amp. The 1 amp port on the power strip gave a reading closer to 4v at 1 amp.
Not sure what the data source is for the app because the OEM charger definitely charges quickly. I have no doubt the OEM is doing 9 volts at 2 amps. Or something definitely higher than 5v at 2.4 amps. I am assuming it is a net figure being measured somewhere not in the line from the port, since it'll also show the discharge when unplugged. So this is not the power coming into the phone.

So as far as I checked, everything is charging well.
The problem is that if you will install few other Ampere measuring programs, some will reveal that they don't have access to the sensor of the phone so the data isn't accurate.
so, we can hope it's ok. sadly I can't find anywhere a physical USB-C Ampere meter to buy for now.

Nathan k over on Google+ has done some tests with the new pixel 2xl. You can see his results there, and yes, the charge rate absolutely slows down with screen on.

Yeah, I would assume slower rate with screen on, but would it reduce from 9 volts at 2 amps from the OEM charger, to showing only 5 volts at 1 amp? Mine does seem to slow noticeably, but that'd be a big change. Unless it specifically drops the incoming power down when the screen goes on.
I think someone needs to throw down the $25 to get an in line USB C meter to just measure. I almost did yesterday, but got too busy to read the reviews of the ones available.

Check out Nathan k. On Google+. He measured wattage from empty to full with screen on. He also did some tests at load.

Yeah, thanks. I'm not on Google + and I tried searching earlier and some usb C groups popped up, and they had so much unrelated stuff I just stopped looking.

does anyone know if using QC3 or say an older Nexus 6p charger really hurts the Pixel 2 XL? I keep hearing X and Y chargers shouldnt be used on the Pixel 2 XL..but does it really matter? is the only downside slower charging? or can you really hurt the battery?

I have used many different types of chargers with no issue.
Nexus 6
Samsung Note 5
Chromecast
Asus that was used for my old dock stations
Generic USB plug in my desk powerbar (likely 5V 1a standard)
QC3 car charger
PD car charger

Well QC4.0 chargers are almost none existant, that's why

A better QC 3.0 charger than the original (with more amps / 12 volt) can decrease charging time?

Yeah the 845 supports it but i dont think LG has enabled it in firmware.
Im just excited we have fast wireless charging thats useable.
Kind of like bands, the radio will do them all but most are firmware specific.

Exactly, we need a custom kernel to have the charging amperes to be changed manually which is really cool. If we have a really cool custom kernel, the CPU governors should preset customisable governors (for smooth performance) and for the charge values, just look for a 3A charger, with the Kernel Adiutor change the values. Meaning the benefits of rooting gives us the complete freedom of our Android! If a 4A charger is detected by the kernel manager app, the charge values should show as "upto 4A even with the screen on! Then no need to be jealous of Dash Charging of One Plus!

Yes, and no, i think the only one "problem" (or protection?) is the limit at 1 amp when the screen is unlocked, 20 volt i think isn't so useful if we use a good usb cable

But, even Samsung said and officially stated that after Note 7 fiasco they made same limit of 1A when screen is unlocked to prevent fast battery degrading. Samsung knows better then XDA uses, I think

It's not 20 volts. That's way too much for a battery. It's actually 9v + 2 amps. 20v it's mostly for Tables i think.

9 Volts isn't even Quick Charge 3.0, it's legacy QC 2.0.
QC 3.0 & 4.0 compatible phones can get charged from 20V, 12V, 9V and 5V

I'm getting the same estimated charge time using my 30w macbook charger, 60w monoprice usbpd charger, 18w usb-pd anker power bank, as a standard adaptive fast charger I have in the house (15w i think?).
Meanwhile the 25w brick that comes with the phone cuts the time by about 10min or so vs the other options above.
I did read about the 45w situation to be tricky, but this is the first time i've heard about the 25w charger being special in this way.
Would love to see more tests and see if there are 3rd party solutions that can get the full 25w speeds, and maybe the 45w ones.
hopefully its not a oneplus situation where you can only get the best stuff from their own first party chargers.

Was reading u need a Type C E cable, whatever that is. I bought a 45W wall charger and still waiting on phone to see what's the deal. Could be the cable you're using that cant handle the load

I was thinking about this. I tried the usb-c -usb-c cable that comes with the box on other chargers and sadly this didn't change anything.
Think you need the proper cable and proper PPS configs on the PD brick to get this working.

Yes you are correct. A special USB-C cable with an embedded chipset (E) is required along with special PPS. At this early stage I'm not certain many (if any) third party vendors meet these requirements. The only safe bet is the Samsung- branded one.

i have a aftermarket 45w home charger and aftermarket 45w power bank.
both WONT charge at 45W, it charging like 15W.
when i plug in the stock 25w charger, it charging faster.

I have an Anker duel charger that has 45W USB C and a USB A. The USB C is rated at 45W and the USB A is rated at 15W. The 25W charges faster than the 45W. (at least what I am seeing)
Good info about the special cable. If we need a special cable... Where do we find it?
I do have to say, it charges fast with the 25W one.

Ill check mines when the phone comes later today.
But i do remember reading that it used a different voltage/amp set.
Which if the charger doesnt support it. Then it would default to the lower one.
I.e.
If your charger is 5v 9v 12v 15v
But the phone needw 10v
It would default to the 9v.
Cant remember where i read this. But was a prerelease testing

The safe way to go is to use the samsung official chargers, that are precisely tuned for this, I would not risk a brand new somewhat expensive device

yeah the phone claims it is rated for 10V at 4.5A and most 45W chargers use 15V at 3A, so likely to be nothing on the market fully capable of charging at super speed at the moment.
as for the USB cable it is a subset of USB 3.1 Gen 2, basically you need a cable with a chip in it, that chip allows you to break the 3A limit on standard cables. is not PPS but it does have 9 Volt at 3amps. i tested it with one of my note 10s and the ipad from 10%. im using a 60W anker brick for the ipad:

How? I ordered one on 8/27/19 and it's not expected to be delivered till 9/26/19. It went out of stock like a day after I ordered. It's not even showing available on Samsung.

I guess i was very lucky, because checking today at the samsung site told it is sold out again. I did get a confirmation that it is shipped with ups express

You might want to check to make sure you actually got the 45w charger as it's been out of stock since about 8/28 - 8/29.
