As far as I know there is only one way to root the S6 Edge+
and it's a very easy way of rooting.
It's no more difficult than rooting any other phone.
Good luck.

There are thousands of posts relating to rooting but
I am sorry to say that I cannot remember all of them.
So perhaps you can be just a little more specific when
you're asking about a particular specific post.
Have a great evening!

Does anyone have any information on the ability to unlock/root the Verizon M8? I tried sorting through the information on the One (2013), but I can't really get a good read on the capability of unlocking/rooting a Verizon M7 on 4.4.2.

The root instructions linked in another post here indicate unlock and root is not possible on Verizon. Is that just not yet or not ever?

Not yet because that method relies on HTC dev unlock, something verizon forces HTC to disallow.....therefore you can't flash a custom recovery and root zip file. However many devs are already working on s-off, root etc so just be patient and thank them when its out.

I wanna jump on this Verizon by-one-get-one promotion but I'm hesitant b/c there is no root yet.
Should I worry about that at all?
I know there aren't any ETA's for root, but does anyone have an educated guess?
Thanks. (I need to tether for work.)

Assuming you only need root on your phone, get them and only activate the one. Just wait until root to use yours (the free one). It's easy math.
Can the *NEW* AT&T SGH-i257 VoLTE(HD Voice) released on 5/23/2014 be rooted?
I have seen root methods for other SGH-i257 variants, but not certain that will fly on this recent iteration.

I received mine a few days ago. It is a great device for it being a little aged spec wise. It has been a while since I have messed with a Samsung device. Reading up this knox thing seems to be a huge pain in the rear.

Yeah I played with the demo at the store I liked it alot and ordered a new one on eBay because of the size, and spec wise it is pretty decent due to the size and it supports microSD I am very happy. Yeah I miss the good ole days with Sammy when boot loaders were unlocked, but AT&T and other carriers forcing their hand

If I had a few more tools and was more up to date I would do it. Unfortunately I have always relied strongly on the skills of the members here. I know someone will be through here in a bit after the phone has a little more exposure. It looks like we probably do need a few files that are more specific to this device. 1 thing I already noticed is that some variants of this device do not have a notification light.

To answer your question, no you can't. Even if you could, the real problem is that we don't have a way YET to root the AT&T Note Edge. We need to be able to root the device before you can add a different ROM.

Folks, there is a waiting room thread for this type of conversation in the General forum. This section should only be for after we get root and people can start developing.

Thank you, raynan. I started this thread here to TRY to get some attention on this issue. Is breaking the AT&T lockout THAT difficult? It seems the devs would rather work on other carrier versions of the Edge on AT&T's network.

The devs are currently working on both the Verizon and AT&T models for root as we speak. Since the S4 was released, Samsung has REALLY cracked down on this type of security for carriers. I don't think the S4 even has an unlocked bootloader and the S5 definitely doesn't. I had to wait for most of my contract until the S5 finally got root and I got it a few months after release. As soon as I have root, I plan on working on a debloated version of the stock ROM for our device like I did with the S5. :good:
By the time root is out for ATT the new Edge and Note will be out. I ended up trading my att edge for an unlocked tmobile one on craigslist. Works perfect.
4.4.4 can be temporary rooted, I rooted and I was on 5.0.1, I downgraded and rooted long enough to use some rooted apps, and now I'm enjoying 4.4.4, to me it is much smoother than lollipop, hopefully the devs will find a way to make root permanent, there is hope Att prisoners
