How do I get rid off the LG emojis? - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I want to get rid off the emojis. They are really going to my nerves. They just look ugly and the designer should switch his job.
I dont want to root as you know LG announced monthly updates.
I want the monthly updates. I just hate those emojis.
Can i inject system.img with the emoji file?
Regards yener90

Technically, yes you can do that but you won't have updates install since your system will be modified. What variant do you have?
Sent From My LG G4

You could do it via an inject but you lose the updates anyway, since the system check won't allow the update I think.
The easiest way is via root and a emoji changer app in the play store

root is not a dangerous process, you can revert it any time with correct kernel..

You can do it without any root. You just have to edit the apk in order to make it work with multiwindow.. There was an app here on xda that modifies the apk, so you only need to download the apk from whatsapp site (not the market), edit it, and install.. All should be fine

but only whatsapp is giving the trouble its not getting installed
i found those apps here

May i ask why you wanna use whatsapp in multiview? I tried it and its useless, the whole multiview is useless in my opinion, oke its nice to annoy ipnone owners
i use whatsapp very often
so if its available in multiwindow
i can workout easily
I think we just have to wait on the app devs to develop apps that can properly handle multi view.
Lord knows some are still not fully 4.1.2 friendly and worse with 4.2 on the nexus.
Whats app is in bad need of some updates. For example: scrolling is awful... even on 4.2
So I say we just have to wait.

The system is probably looking for a flag inside the installed font's apk file or something like that. It is probably checking to see what version the fonts/apk file was built for and if it isn't MM then it won't allow it. You could either try patching the installed font apk yourself, or ask the developer of the font to upgrade it to support MM. This is a normal thing for us developers, we normally have to release a new version of an app for it to work on the next version of android.

Can anyone with this phone dump and upload the /oem directory? Apparently it has apps like File Browser and such in it, and none of the tools out so far can extract oem.img in the factory image like you can with system.img and boot.img.
(I know there's an APK of File Browser out, but I'm interested in what other stuff may be in that directory.)

If you mean the US models, I don't know how to extract the contents of oem.img, but here's some of the other odd apps I see in the stock ROM but hidden:
Motorola App Box: seems to be something to do with MX/BR/CO carriers, as there are activities for TIM Brasil, Movistar MX, Movistar CO, Claro BR, Vivo BR, and Tigo CO.
App Widget: seems to be something for Bell Canada
Easy Prefix: seems to have something to do with international calling on dual-SIM phones (there are also some apps that have to do with dual-SIM usage, even though the US model is single-SIM only)
File Manager: just as you mentioned
My Consumer Cellular: most likely shows in the app drawer when you insert a Consumer Cellular SIM card. Since the service is aimed at seniors, it was most likely pre-loaded as a convenience, since seniors aren't typically into app downloads.
Prip: push to talk app, a google search shows that it's used by AT&T Mexico, and is available as a separate stand-alone app
Republic Wireless: US MVNO that makes heavy use of custom code for their calling functions (all calls are VOIP iirc). They rely on users placing most calls over WiFi, so they had to have Moto pre-install software on the phone to support it
Think I got it all.

Not exactly but close. It's not triggered by the sim. CC has their own roms that includes the app as a system app. It can also be installed from Play. Rarely I have seen Motorola push out an ota that should go to a CC phone and it will install the app. They dont have the CC version of the G4 in Sears and Target where they sell their phones so it would almost have to be an app install that puts it on a G4 for now. Other than the app the only difference in a CC rom would be that any ota would come through CC instead of Motorola, like the Amazon phone.

The actual APK is present for it in /oem/app/CCMyConsumer, 2.13MB
That's also where the File Browser and other carrier-related APKs are stored.

How do you extract the contents of a boot.img or system.img?
Or do you mount it (that's what I'v tried but not got working) but all flags fail me so it might be as you say that it is a package rather then disk partition.

Remove Chinese in Apps

Anybody knows, how can we remove chinese words in apps like phone dialer, U Health, GT Browser?
Can we find all apps in english?
Can we use Z1 international apps in our device?
You can delete most of them and replace with Play Store apps.

For me the ultimate solution would be either installing a custom Rom or if/when Lenovo release a global Stock Rom.

Problem solved. It's a modified version of the system, these apps have been removed and when installing them manually they didn't work.
You can install the original ROM, without having to root or anything, just google for '[HOWTO] Flash a Stock ZUI ROM (ZUK Z2 Pro Z2121 only!)', should be the first result.
make sure to use method 2, method 1 won't work, put the downloaded files in folders with short names on C:\ and don't use space or any symbols in the folder names. Also download the files from the link of the second method, not the first one, the password for the archive is

The system will be in chinese, with english available (for english language go to settings, then the option with the cog symbol, then second option, then first option), the translation for other languages were horrible anyway. You will have the newest version of the software with all the app, including U-Health etc. You will also be able to get future updates on the phone itself, which isn't possible with the 'international ROM'. Also stuff like permission manager will work, but you have to install the google apps yourself, which is very easy after googling for a tutorial.

Thank you.
I did it and my phone works. Beautiful.
On the other, only a question.
When I try to check if there is a new upgrade a message appears in my mobile.
The message said: Your mobile has been root, isn't available upgrade.
Do you know if the mobile is rooted when you do the flashing with the method that you posted.
Thanks advanced.
Why these chinese manufacturer put Chinese on their devices even on international model.
Very frustrating.

I don't get that message, for me it just says 'No Update available' and Rootchecker also says, that I don't have root access.
Maybe the shop you bought it from rooted it? You could try unrooting it.
Also when you want to update with the System Update app, you need to be connected to a chinese VPN

I can't install the last One UI Home

Hello! Does anyone know why I can't install the latest version of One UI Home? I have version 11.0.05.131, in apkmirror it is available until 11.0.20.40, but it does not let me install it, what can I do to test the latest version?
