I do deeply apologise if I am making this thread on top of some that already exist, I tried to do search, but did not find anything exactly like my problem...
Well, here it goes. I have the old version of HTC desire with Amoled Screen(I am pretty certain about it) but suddenly, I dropped my beloved on ground, and it fell flat on screen... digitizer and screen protectors were absolutely fine, but the inner screen cracked and liquid thingie got out, so after few days, I ordered repair on HTC, despite 85pounds worth repair, and 3weeks waiting, I finaly got my phone back... but there is something wrong with it...
I have read over the internet some talking about dust stuck between screen and digitizer, I have read something about digitizer not working as supposed etc. but my issue is different, the screen is Yellowish?!? Did some google search, and found that SLCD screens are yellowish, and AMOLED blue-ish, fair enough, did some research and checked differences, and NONE of the SLCD screens were that yellowish as mine, so took drop of water on screen to use it as zoom to find out if I have SLCD or AMOLED, according to engadget.com, I got another AMOLED screen, which makes me kinda happy(black is really black, viewing angles are good etc). but the color... I would not mind much, but its sooo yellow, that whats supposed to be blue is having slightly greenish color now... I can attach some pictures if you need, but I have nothing to compare with other than my LCD display on PC. I will actualy check tomorrow with some people from work who got Desire as well.
I also found one thread on this forum, that one lad was replacing the screen for himself, and that he found the problem is on some filters thingie(I dont understand such things that much, and I would not be able to fix it by myself) that was turning his screen yellowish as well...
So my main question is, could possibly the phone leave the HTC repair center in England with this kind of fault? Where the screen is yellow-ish and actualy turning colors of pictures different way?
Nothing is 100% perfect and we're all human, so yes, there is room for error. Take it back and say you don't like it. As far as explaining it to you, I have no bloody idea at all. If I was you I would take it back. Whilst we're on the topic, how do you know if you have an AMOLED or a SLCD screen?
I hope its nothing against rules, here is the best way how to know what display you have:

just focus on the bricks, if they are like on old phones, then you have SLCD, if they are like on wall, its AMOLED, the AMOLED has build its basics little zigzag, but SLCD is straight, just like on LCD screen on PC - you can easily notice while browsing the net and displaying straight vertical line, if its thin enough, you will see little edges on it
Other than that, I dont think there is anything else(appart from how bright colors are on Amoled) that would say you have AMOLED or LCD
I had a look but it was hard to tell how they were lined up. It seemed that they're all like a wall, I'm pretty sure but need a microscope lol.
It is easier to tell if you look at something that is blue or red, rather than white or green. If it is amoled it will have diagonal lines or a diamond pattern with black dots in them. Lcd will be entirely smooth with only horizontal and vertical lines.
Ok, so I have seen a friends amoled screen now, and I have changed my opinion now, the yellowish, and he has blue-ish color.. so mine screen looks way better and has way more contrast, so I guess I'll keep this as it is, and just get used to it... I dont want to use nokia 6070 any longer
You might be interested in the colour calibration that comes stock with e.g. Cyanogenmod if you have rooted the phone. There you can change the balance between R G and B to obtain a more natural white.
Normal cautions regarding rooting apply.
Gotta root first, since the phone came back from repair completely wiped out

Or you could put on a pure black background and see if the blacks are black! If you can see backlight then it's LCD.
True, that's a way how to find out as well, but I wasn't that certain with this since I didn't have different phone to compare..
Btw, phone rooted and runing gingerbread ATM, pretty happy with it, and screen settled down and colors are good again...
Just about the gingerbread, is there a hope for having sense on it before official launch? Or do we have any official news from HTC about gingerbread coming on desires?
I have a visible light strip at the top of the display... what should I do? I say to myself I don't care but it annoys me because I keep noticing it.

That's light bleed - light seeping from the backlight into the edges of the display. Happens when the display is compressed/bent during installation into the phone. Nothing you can do about it but get the phone exchanged if it bothers you that much. However, if you exchange it, it's the luck of the draw - you might get a better one or a much worse one.
Unfortunately, all LCD displays are prone to this, as manufacturers would have to reject something like 50% of them otherwise - I had to go through SIX brand-new 27" Dell monitors before I found two that I could live with - and they're still far from perfect.
I had to exchange my iPad Mini twice to get a good display, and my Nexus 9 three times. It's totally random. Got lucky with my G4 that has a perfect screen (though I had to exchange it, too, as the first one had dust stuck between the front glass and the display panel).
Manufacturers just have really low "acceptable quality" standards to maximize profits/units sold, as many people will never notice those issues.

I see thanks, I had some light bleed (I knew what it is didn't remember the english word LOL) on my N4 too but nowhere near this and it didn't seem like a solid strip more random...
Sent it back... hope I got luck with the next one, and hope Amazon is quick my current phones battery is pretty much dead...
Purchased a "used" D851 on eBay - received it today. Physically the phone is perfect - no scratches or marks of any kind, zero bad or stuck pixels and the screen's background is white with zero yellowing. The only issue I can see is when the display is turned up it has a tendency to slightly flicker - like its adjusting brightness but the setting is not set. Does this sound like a cable problem, motherboard chipset or problem with the display itself? Understand that there have been issues where the screen fades to black but I have had this issue.

if you're still with t Mobile just call for a replacement
So my screen is having issues when I scroll and I know this happens on this device. The question is do all the devices do this or is this just an issue with certain ones. Is my phone broke or will it be fixed with an update. The smearing is pretty bad and I notice it even with the brightness turned up.
Every OLED device I have has done it, but I haven't had an LCD device for a while. So I don't know if it's a characteristic of OLED screens or all screens. My last device was Samsung and had it pretty bad.
I'm having the same issue,
It bleeds/smears with dark/black color when used in dark i.e no light in the room.
I think it happens all the time, just that its visible and annoying when we use it in dark.
What did you do? Did you get it replaced?

Same here... It seems normal, anyway with two years warranty if something is wrong with screen (black bleeding, burn in, ...) Google have to repair it or change the smartphone.

It should only be visible in low brightness. It's normal for oled but the pixel 2 XL is a bit noticeable because Google set the gamma to high. So it can actually be improved through software.
If you see black smear etc during the day and any other time than maybe at night when the screen is at low brightness I would rma it
Seems like sensors are causing problem if move phone around in dark it will go away I have a case and tempered glass on phone
I replaced my screen on my OnePlus 5t, double checked all ribbon cables, and factory reset the phone with the unbrick tool. The screen works perfectly but the picture is upside down and 1/4 of the screen at the bottom is fuzzy static. but the image is not cut off ...it is almost like this amount of pixels is subtracted but the top and bottom bars are still visible within the working portion of the screen...the touch works in the normal orientation so it is almost impossible to hit the right buttons on the screen - you have to guess where. see a screenshot and some photos attached. The screenshot strangely is coming out as 1080x1920 resolution and looks normal but shorter. I know that the screen's resolution is 1080x2160. Anyone has an idea what may the issue be?? Faulty replacement screen, issue with ribbon cable or even a damaged GPU?? Thanks

Not possible its a defective 5t display as oneplus 5 has a small display with a home button
Check recovery if it's showing the same.
