How about our phone, will our phone have kitkat? Base on rumours, kitkat will base 3.8 kernel...

3.8 kernel is not essential, there are some screenshot where you can see kitkat running with 3.4 kernel. Yeah, we don't have 3.4...

I doubt it, I only see log entries for nexus 4, 5, 7 and 10 running 4.4 - Though now I am seeing slightly different builds i.e. KRT10F instead KRT10C
Nexus 7 4.4 KRT10F
Nexus 10 4.4 KRT13
Nexus 5 4.4 KRT10F
Nexus 4 (Svelte test mode) 4.4 KRT08C

in fact it's not suprise that our GN not receiving 4.4...but still feel a little bit disappointed when knowing that
My two cents...I would be very surprised if we don't get 4.4 officially. It is technically a minor version bump.

...Not as minor as 4.2 -> 4.3. UI drastically changed (not just the launcher) and they decided to make a universally available Launcher called Google Experience, so you see Google is determined to make KitKat a large step forward.
But yeah, based on this point (universal, unified experience) and Google's saying of "making the best experience for everyone", I can say that we're going to get KitKat in one way or another (I don't personally care if Google decides no official release, AOSP is always there). Plus, who said we need 3.4 or even 3.8 kernels to run it (any RELIABLE sources)? Many older devices run JB 4.1 and even 4.2 nicely with 2.6.xx kernels. Many 3.4, 3.8 and even 3.1x features are being backported too.

I'm surprised that you're this delusional, personally I'm planning to rollback to 4.1, the recent versions of android is just too choppy for my liking, ram management is horrible too.

Well, I have had nothing but a well-running Nexus on 4.3 for the last little while, so it really sucks to hear you're having problems. I appreciate a discussion here, but starting off a reply by calling someone "delusional" seems a bit rude and harsh, no?

Look i don't know about Linux Kernel, etc..
But i just saw that the 3.8 is officially discontinued.
3.4 is continued until October 2014.
So i think the next Kernel version for Android will be the 3.10 (long term: until September 2015) not 3.8.
By the way....a Nexus 5 with 3.10 kernel would be pretty nice. But it seem it will be 3.4.
Source
I remember when 3.0 was released (after the 2.6.39), Linus Torvalds said exactly this:
"So what are the big changes? NOTHING. Absolutely nothing. Sure, we have the usual two thirds driver
changes, and a lot of random fixes, but the point is that 3.0 is
*just* about renumbering, we are very much *not* doing a KDE-4 or a
Gnome-3 here. No breakage, no special scary new features, nothing at
all like that. We've been doing time-based releases for many years
now, this is in no way about features. If you want an excuse for the
renumbering, you really should look at the time-based one ("20 years")
instead."
I post that, only to say that sometimes numbers mean nothing..3.4 is a stable kernel, there isn't a big difference that you can see in the daily use with 3.10..really
Lets pray, for kitkat on our phone..!!!

I thought the new nexus an kitkat would have been launched by now, everything has gone quiet now an the hype has gone, iOS7 is keeping me amused for now, the kitkat screenshots look like google got a lot of their inspiration from apple an iOS7, just hope the nexus 5 is as good if not better than iPhone 5s.
They may not have FCC approval since government is shut down

They said that 4.4 will work on devices with 512mb of ram. And they said it will be available for older devices.
I think we'll get the update, even though it will be the last one...

that all rumors, they (google) didn't say anything about ram usage
Sorry if this an obvious question, but I'd really like to know if I'd have to root/unlock it to flash some more recent Android version.
Speaking of which, how difficult is it to flash/unroot?
At least put an effort into researching.

No there are no roms for this tablet at this time.

Lmao post with no answer.. put some effort its just 2-3 keys "no" then "yes" WOOT!
No man not yet. They do have plans to.
It's true that the answer is a simple no. But I had to learn the hard way when I first jumped into this site a few years ago that people do not like to be asked questions that are easy to answer. You don't even have to look on this website. Simply look at the spec sheet on LG's website and you will see that it comes with 4.2 .2. There is already a rootkit out for the device but no roms at this time. I honestly don't think you need a newer version at this time. 4.2 .2 jelly bean does everything you need in my opinion. Otherwise get a Nexus device. I have a Nexus 4 running Kit Kat Paranoid Android and Franco kernel and I couldn't be happier. But when it comes to my tablet I just wanted for basic consumption and a stock Android is perfectly fine. Just my opinion.

What is it that you are going to gain from updating to 4.3? The bigger number? There is a lot more that can be improved in the ROM than going to 4.3

That is still a nightly... I did get excited when I saw milestone 1 but that was for jelly bean :/ I guess I'll just have to wait.. I really like slimkat and omnirom but just not stable enough for me and everyday use.. Camera force closes a lot as do other apps especially chrome
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2306534
its from the att galaxy note 2 but im sure it works on the tmo version
I finally created an xda account
Omnirom 4.4.2 ...its a nightly build but very stable so far ... No real issues. Nothing force closes and camera is working and tethering works for me ...using it as a daily driver

wow! this looks promising! downloading now.. thanks
Agree, beanstalk is a very verrrrryy good rom. Stable and great battery life. While you're at it check out the other one will3 js working on now called temasek or something like that.
Now that I think of it my two favorite roms are from the att forum. Beanstalk for aosp, and sky air with the note 3 features for touchwiz
sent from a note taker
My apologies for bumping an old thread. So I've been using beanstalkrom for the past week or so and I love it. One big issue for me is that the camera sometimes does not work. I know that it's a "known issue" and it bugs me alot. Temasek Rom is suppose to replace beanstalk and from what I've read, you can use the G2 camera but still has minor issues ( can't upload videos to instagram/vine). Now for the million dollar question, is there a 100% stable version of kikat for the note 2? or will i have to wait until March when Samsung releases it?
Could somebody help me out ive searched the net trying to find kitkat stock firmware or rom to download and install on my tab 3 10.1 so could somebody shoot me a link to where I can find a version compatable with my tab 3. thanks
It doesnt exist yet.

Actually it does but it just hasn't been released for this model yet and from what Samsung told me when I talked to them they said it will be a while before it is released because there's alot more devices that will be getting kit Kat first.

Note 3 was released forever ago
To the average user..... a toggle, and amazon app. Ahaha
More "advanced" - security updates, bug fixes, runs smoother then 4.4.2, Ive had better battery life, new kernel with a bunch of changes compared to 4.4.2, new modems, etc etc
Definitely better battery life. Also lte seems better and broader than before. Haven't had one RR since upgrading.
