WHY
The ****heads at Samsung have given up on our devices.
Heck, Tab 3's in some regions (read: mine) don't even have kitkat.
We won't obtain Lollipop for Tab 3's through official channels (it's "not on the list"). That's one reason I like rooting my devices so I can go around official channels if necessary to keep my devices fresh (in this case, you can put Lollipop on the Tab by flashing CyanogenMod 12). Since support is unofficial, current Lollipop builds appear to be incomplete with problematic support for things like hardware acceleration. As of this juncture, I would personally suggest going no further than KitKat for everyday use.

I know we will have to see what the future brings but, are there any developers willing to develop custom roms for us Tab S owners?
I know CM12 is Available for the Non-LTE Variants, i am an LTE owner so, i dont have any sort of Lollipop on my T705, was just wondering, since Custom Development for T705 has stopped for a while (besides IronRom which is mainly a 805, and SkyHigh, which is my daily driver)

CM12 is based on Lollipop.
Lollipop was Officially released quite a few months ago, what hasnt been released is Lollipop for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S Product Line.
So my question was, if we are to expect custom development from the current developers for the Tab S when Samsung releases its base rom for the Tab S, since this is a no-so-popular device.

Cm12 is based on lollipop/stock android. Why? Because someone ported/built a working build to make it work. Samsung takes ages to release lollipop.

We will get custom rom development and maybe themes since samsung switched to png format.

See, this was something I was afraid of hearing because wouldn't there be a difference between ported/built working vs official samsung bult that is fully functional? Not saying the other cm12 isn't functional, my insecurity says theres ought to be something between developing a working carbon copy and the real version.

What do you mean with the "real and carbon copy" versions?
Samsung implements a framework on top of android called Touchwiz for their devices, it's more than just a skin, and the personalization takes time. Samsung decides which devices to be updated first based on the sales of the device or if it's a new device as a magnet for sales.
CM(XX) is much closer to the The Stock Android Experience (AOSP), but since Samsung uses a closed code, and drivers, an implementation is never as perfect as an "Official" one. This is mainly due to the fact that CM implementations are more ports than direct implementations, but neither is a copy or the other, just two different approaches, and different outcomes.
I will still continue development of my SkyHigh kernels for LP TouchWiz based firmware. It's what I'll be using ..... unless I manage a miracle to scrounge the cash for the upcoming 8" Tab S2
Once firmware and LP kernel source is released, then I can start .

Why do you want the rom from the SM-T330 on the SM-T310? They use different SOC's (SM-T310 uses Samsung's Exynos chipset while the SM-T330 uses a Qualcomm chipset). So the sources are not really compatible.
Furthermore, they use different graphics chips. So, while you *might* technically be able to run the SM-T330 ROM on the SM-T310, it probably isn't worth it.
Especially since some people already have an unofficial build of Cyanogenmod 12.1 for it (Android 5.1). Why don't you get involved with them instead?
Look over their repositories and their commit history to understand what they did and why they did it (assuming good commit logs).
See the subforum post here:

Am already running cm 12.1 ROM but am not able to get touchwiz interface and launcher ........ That's the only problem I have
Hello everyone. Please forgive me but I am a super newbie in regards to rooting and terminologies. I have a Galaxy Note 8 N5100, wifi version. It has the original firmware 4.4.2 and I would like to upgrade it to Nougat 7.0. My son is having trouble playing new games on it so I theorized that it could be due to its age. Before I buy a brand new tablet I figured I would try to see if updating the N5100 would help.
I have googled and saw this link and it seems fairly easy.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2626778
Is that the correct thing to go through the process? And to update to Nougat I saw this:
http://www.android-nougat.tech/2017/03/samsung-galaxy-note-8-0-wi-fi-5253.html
Or if there is a better/easier way I would appreciate it. Thanks.
Wish I could help. I'm just getting back into this tablet myself.I'm sure someone will show up with info.

Hi! I was planning to do exactly the same thing -- upgrade my trusty Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 to Android Nougat -- and from scouring the XDA forums re this device, it seems to me that we have two popular options (based on the comments and thanks-ratings).
Here's the link to the more popular one, it's been renamed LineageOS 14.1 by the developer(s) but is based on Nougat 7.x:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...m-unofficial-lineageos-14-1-gt-n51xx-t3533329
And if for some reason you don't like the name of that one (or for any other reason, just to have an alternative), there's another popular one called RR (short for Resurrection Remix OS). It is based on Nougat 7.1.1_r25 and nightlies of LineageOS 14.1:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...t/rom-resurrection-remix-5-8-2-rel-1-t3571116
I'm about to upgrade to LineageOS now (wish me luck). The reason I'm choosing LineageOS is 'coz it seems to be more popular and is ported to more devices.
Hi I own the same device as you and I flashed the RR rom to my tablet it was really easy, you need to root your device first and then install TWRP (Team win recovery project) after that follow the instructions on the rom
do you lose touchwiz and spen?

If you are looking to use a more current rom with Marshmallow or Nougat, then yes you will lose touchwiz and probably most or all s-pen features. AOSP roms like Lineage and Resurrection Remix are based on stock android, but sometimes they're the only way to keep an old device current. Touchwiz roms are usually adapted from original firmware or ports from similar devices. Since this device stopped receiving updates at Kitkat, the most up-to-date touchwiz roms you'll find for the Galaxy Note 8.0 will be Kitkat.
There have been many cases of newer versions of Android being ported from a device that can run it. For example, Android 8 has been ported to the Galaxy S6 from the A8, and Android 6 has been ported to the Galaxy Note 3 from the Note 7. In both of these examples, the ROMs have been a port of the Samsung firmware with all the UI but modified to work on the phone.
However, on the Galaxy S5, the only port ROMs I've seen are Marshmallow, even S8-based TouchWiz ROMs are still based on Marshmallow. Marshmallow is still a relatively new version, but there will come a time where eventually support will die out just like KitKat and soon Lollipop.
The question I am asking is whether it is possible to port a Samsung firmware of a newer Android version to the Galaxy S5. If so, what steps would need to be taken? If not, why?
Hello, i am asking you if anyone could help me fix the following bugs on rom ported from galaxy tab pro 12.2 5.1.1 lollipop to tab pro 8.4 mondrianlte which maximum official tw is 4.4.2
(the lollidrian rom)
The rom boots but here are things that arent working:
Camera(cam failed)
Wifi(i was trying to fix that one but the wlan.ko files are nonexistent in lollipop, in kitkat they are there)
Bt
Mounting any storage devices(the tab does see the storage but it cannot mount it)
Ril(also tried fixing but always end in bootloop)
(In the screenahot it says note pro, thats because that was mine older base rom, cause i changed base from p905 5.0.2 to t905 5.1.1)
(This tablet NEVER got unofficial or official Touchwiz lollipop i am the one first to make it boot)
(I have plans to also make this rom for tab pro 10.1 and all tabs pro with snapdragon 800 soc)
(The rom will be also available with optimised lite version, it will be always better than stock kitkat, which is limiting the tablets power, and many people don't like lineageos and other AOSP based roms, mine overheats on them)
