[Q]Stock S6 Messaging App to S5? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6

Is it possible to somehow replace the Galaxy S5 stock Messaging app with the one that is installed on the Galaxy S6? My wife got to use the S6 for a few days and loves the feature of selecting your most recent pics when you tap the Attach paperclip in the S6 messaging app.

Install Stock ICS Messaging app? (mms.apk?)

So I tried looking for a solution and so far havent found anything
I like stock touchwiz (so far) mostly because of the Motion options Samsung introduced (AOKP and CM9 have yet to implement these)
I really liked the stock messaging app from ICS (coming from a Galaxy Nexus) and was wondering if there is a way of getting it on the S3
I tried pushing the stock "mms.apk" to the /system/app folder but it keep saying there is a conflict and cannot install (installing the stock gallery.apk worked though)
The S3 messaging app is called "Secmms.apk" , but even if i rename that and try installing the stock mms.apk it just said the install failed
Does anyone have any clue on how to install the stock ICS messaging app?
Thanks in advance!

Your welcome!
BTW, if you want the calendar (ICS version) let me know. It works too!!!
Thanks for posting that. Worked perfectly over here.
Any chance of getting the stock contacts app or will that take more effort than it's worth?
Now that the issue is solved, can someone upload the vanilla apk for the gallery please
And yeah, calendar would be nice too.

hey rumz82
can you share ICS calendar?
can someone post the ics msg app screenshot...? i want to try it too...
Contacts is part of the dialler so you'll get into a mess if you try to change that, I did. I also changed the keyboard by putting in the latinIME.apk and then switching to it as the default input method. I find the stock keyboard quite unreliable.
If you use the CM gallery, as already posted, you can set the background screen image to be scrollable at the right resolution.

thanks for tweeting suroot!
I'm referring to the big circle with the sms icon that appears on the right center of the lockscreen that we used to get then a new sms arrives - then we drag it from the left to the right to open the sms application, that way we don't have to sacrifice one of the 4 shortcut slots for sms app
that's the one I was referring to, and it's gone now!

Thanks for that but I am having trouble replacing the Email (Exchange) app from my stock rooted S3.
Do you have to have a deoxed ROM to replace the Email app for the stock one?
I cannot replace email.apk as there is simply none in the ROM, only an Exchange.apk

[Q] Possible to install AOSP Messaging app on TouchWiz ROM?

Hi all,
After trying out CM10.1, I've found it to be a little too unstable at this early stage and have flashed back to Wanamlite. I can live with TouchWiz for now, but the one app on TouchWiz I really can't stand is the Messaging/SMS app.
Is it possible to flash an AOSP/vanilla version of the Android messaging app onto my phone?
Would it need to replace the TouchWiz one, or would it work side-by-side with it?
Where could I get an up to date AOSP SMS app?
Any help would be great!

Thanks mate I saw that - but seems to have a few bugs at present. Was wondering if it was possible to get the app another way.
Its possible. It replaces the tw version. There is one in themes/apps section for the sprint s3. You have to push the file to system/app. Rename it and set perm.

Works a treat. A little bit different to the steps they advised though; putting mms.apk in the system/app folder with the correct permissions wouldn't work - I could put it in there, but the application wouldn't actually load when rebooted.
I then tried installing it as an APK, but no go; Android said there was another system app installed. So I moved secmms up one level, rebooted into recovery, fixed permissions, and now it's fine.

Better version!
Hi All,
Try this version. I took this from the S3 AOSP Codec ROM which is version 4.0.4~ish. Works great on my S3 (GT-I9300) with XXELL4 ROM 4.1.2 Jelly Bean
It has:
- Dark theme (4.2 theme I think)
- Emoticons
- emojis

it needs to be a system app so copy it over to /system/app and set ownership and permission as root:root 644/rw-r-r
Thank you winuxguy, I've copied the app, but I don't really understand the root:root 644/rw-r-r...
Can you explain this a little bit more please?

[REQUEST] S4 stock apk to S3

My post at the bottom (at time of posting this reply) will give you a link to the new S-Voice from the S4 dump, as well as a better camera app ported from another device (not S4, but I'm not entirely sure which device)

I think it relies on some other files within the new touchwiz. I tried it last night, was able to open it. But it would crash right away. Might be 4.2.2 dependant.

I was able to get quite a few working, a lot of the main apps (secphone, secmms, gallary and camera) require additional work to get working. Shouldn't be too long until they are ported though.

Full screen Dialer/International Note 3

Is there a mod that i can flash that would give me the same full screen dialer from the international note 3. Its like a native touchwiz dialer. I tried searching before I posted this and I hope I put it in the right place.
