HTC One M8 camera keeps crashing randomly. - T-Mobile HTC One (M8)

Hello,
My HTC One M8 (T-mobile) has been acting up lately. The camera crashes randomly when I open the camera app. There is no error message, it just crashes and phones goes back to the home screen.
I have tried other camera apps too, same fate.
I think I have started noticing this after the latest android security update that was installed a week ago.
Anyone facing similar issues?
I have tried force stop, clear cache, clear data and even a factory reset. Nothing helped.
Update: both camera work fine with this app called OpenCamera, it does not crash like the HTC camera and Google camera app.

I first noticed this after the upgrade to Lollipop. Still happens occasionally, and is fixed for weeks at a time with a reboot.

[Q] G2 Apps Start Force Closing

On my G2, I've noticed that previously perfectly working apps will suddenly stop working, giving me a force close error whenever I try to launch them after being installed for a period of time. The only way I've been able to fix it is by uninstalling and then reinstalling the application.
Has this occurred to anyone else? And what should I do to fix this problem?
yes, i had this problem a few days ago...i did a factory reset and everything works fine as of now.
are there any solutions that don't require a wipe?
i had to wipe, and i lost all my mileage records i had entered into the mileage app, and my text messages before i backed them up...
its not too bad when its 2 weeks worth of information... but if this is going to occur often, its not going to be pretty
The two times that happened to me a simple power off/power on worked and they stopped Force Closing. I'm taking it that it didn't work in your situation and the uninstall/reinstall was the only fix?
yea i tried rebooting it several times, but after my latest wipe, nothing bad has happened...
still an issue that should be raised if its been replicated more than once
Ive had this problem with the stock browser and twitter, rebooting seemed to fix it.
Ah, one of those times where fix_permissions would be nice.
I've had to uninstall and re-install several of my apps because they've been force closing.

I've had this happen and it was acting really weird before it did it. It did like a vicious reboot and just about any app other than stock got a force close upon opening. It's gotta be software issues, god I hate stock roms. Damn TMobile and trying to restricting our joy of root.

This is starting to happen to me on my G2 as well now. I have uninstalled the Apps I could (except the preinstalled ones) and still they are force closing on me. I also have Factory Reset the phone several times and it still is happening. I have already exchanged my G2 once at Walmart for a flickering screen but im pretty sure the 14 days are up now with them. At this point I'm sure I have to call Tmobile.
Anyone have any ideas before I call T-Mobile?
I'm not rooted at all just plain stock.
Thanks

[Q] Issue with apps that access the front-facing camera

About 7 days ago, my camera app started force closing everytime I tried to open it. Thought it was an issue with the CM10 build I was using, so I wiped and flashed the official AOKP ROM. The issue persisted. Tried multiple ROMs, including stock. It seems to be an issue with not only the stock camera, but with any app that accesses the front facing camera. Skype won't let you log in. The stock camera app force closes. Camera ZOOM app works with the rear facing camera, but won't let you use the front facing camera (just flashes black when you try to switch to the front camera, then switches back to the rear camera). This all started about 7 or 8 days ago, and I initially thought it was an issue with the experimental version of CyanogenMod 10 that I was using. But after multiple wipes and reflashes, that doesn't seem to be the case.
Anyone else experiencing this?

Sounds like a hardware issue. Maybe you can get the hardware to reset by leaving the battery out for 15-20 mins?
Swype'ed on my CM10 Galaxy Nexus
go back to stock and see if that resolved the problem.
Let the battery sit out for an hour today at work just in case, no dice. Clearing data/cache in the Apps menu, no dice.

Yup, tried that. Did a complete wipe of internal storage, not just user data. Used the GNex Toolkit to put stock 4.0.4 and 4.1.1. Same results with both. I've (miraculously) never dropped this phone, so I'm not sure what could have caused the front-facing camera to fail. Either way, Verizon is sending me a new one. Drives me NUTS not knowing what really went wrong though.

Unfortunately, camera has stopped - on and off intermittent

Getting a weird one. When I am video'ing, and I try to zoom in, the camera then crashes with "Unfortunately, the camera has stopped". I have tried with Google Camera, which I have installed, and the zoom seems to work fine, but I would rather use the LG G3 camera app. The zoom works fine when not recording, and when taking stills, but only crashes when actually recording
I have tried a full factory reset, and even waited till the next OTA was released (v10i), hoping that a new ROM would fix this, but still having the same problem
Yesterday, when showing someone the issue, the zoom was working ... which confused me, but then later on during the day, had to reboot the phone. Went to show my partner last night that it was working, and it was crashing again. This morning tried to zoom, and yep, it seems to be working today
This has really got me stumped. If it was hardware, you would expect it all the time, and for it to fail on other 3rd party apps. I like the stock app, but cannot use it as my default in case I have the zoom issue, and therefore lose what I am videoing
Anybody have any ideas on this?
The phone is stock, LG-D855 and running V10i-EUR-XX
Has nobody else had this issue, or any ideas how to resolve?

G3 Camera not working properly...

I have searched and scoured the forums and have not found this issue. Maybe someone can shed some light...
When I would open my camera, sometimes the app would open and freeze (blank screen with only the back button showing). I would go in and clear the cache and data then force close the app. That would fix it temporarily.
Then there was a firmware update. Now my camera opens to a blank screen with the back arrow only.
I have cleared the cache and data, done a cache/data clear on the google app, even a factory reset. Then resorted to using the LG software tool and re-installed the firmware. Still not working.
I know there is this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2090959, but my app is not crashing. It's just doing nothing like the camera is supposed to be working.
The phone has not gotten wet (as far as I know of), nor has it been dropped. It also has an Otterbox case on it.
Has anyone else had this issue?
My nephew has the same phone on Verizon and has no issues with his.
Note, I am running Android 5.0.1
Us Cellular is ordering a new phone for me. I did all above items that they would have. He was stumped also.

B380 update breaks stock camera on RIO-L01 Dual SIM?

Hey everyone,
I've got the GX8 Dual SIM in Germany and there have been a couple of updates in the last few days. I just updated to RIO-L01C432B380 yesterday, and have found that the stock camera app won't capture photos. I've tried using the volume rocker, screen tap, smile to capture and nothing responds, front - back - or video. Interestingly, other camera apps work without issue. I've reset the data on the stock camera app, and tried to force stop, but it doesn't have an effect.
Has anyone else had this experience since updating?
I'm in Germany too, and upgraded to b380 myself, but I did a factory reset after installing the new update. I make it a habit to do so after every update, to prevent crashing apps or strange things going on.
I know most people hate doing a factory reset, but once in a while, it's the only true way to keep things running smoothly.
