I shot a short film today with the stock app. I selected slow motion and started filming. Afterwards I noticed the film wasn't going slow and no way to slow it down it the gallery.
What am I doing wrong?

It records 120 fps, you should be able to notice how smooth it is when moving your phone around while recording. To play back in slow motion automatically, use the stock LG video app. You can change the speed with a set of arrows that'll appear when you hit play.
Alternately you can use other video player apps such as VLC to play back in slow motion, though they may not do so automatically.

Same here, I don't have options for that either.. However, are you sure you on slow mo? Took me a few tries to get it right. Also, make sure you give it enough time to do it's thing. I recorded in slow mo but it actually took a few minutes for my gallery to play back in slow motion, if that makes any sense....

Same problem here
same here - any solutions? Are there different kinds of gallery apps?
It's not about galleries, it's about video player apps. Any decent video player allow you to change the playback speed.
Now, if you are stock, the default video player not only does that, but also recognizes the higher framerate and chooses a slower framerate for playback, effectively playing your video in slow motion. Here's what you should be getting:
1. Capture in slow motion mode
2. Then select the captured video either from inside the recording app (top right circle) or later from the gallery. You should see:
Tap on play.
3. If you have more video playback capable apps installed and have not selected a default one in the past you will see:
Select the default system app (video with the green icon).
4. Then playback begins:
To the right there are the speed controls. This app will automatically recognize slow motion video captured with the phone, and probably start at 1/8 speed (1/4 is recommended for fluid result).
If you are using another app for video playback find out how you can control playback speed.

Hi guys,
I'm suffering trying to get some videos to play on my epic. They are MKV: h264 (848x480) and ogg. At first I thought the phone saying it wouldn't support the video was the audio codec, which I tried remuxed as mp3 and wav, neither helped. At this point I am wondering it the h264 resolution isn't supported?
However, another weird issue is my epic also won't play some videos I already reformatted for my ipad. These are MP4: h264 768x576 and AAC. I can't imagine the epic being more limited than the crippled ipad...
Am I missing something here? Everywhere I look, all of these formats are supposed to be supported (well, maybe not ogg). Also, every once in awhile one of these combinations will play, but with missing audio, no subs, can't seek, freezing video, etc. Always some error, and usually just outright says the system doesn't support the format.
Thanks for the help guys, this is stressing me out lol, so sick of trying conversions.
What software are you using? Handbrake with Normal profile works just fine on the Epic (but High Profile does not work).
Last time I tried to find a decent video transcoder for Windows it was a nightmare, maybe this will help you (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Free_video_conversion_software).
If that doesn't workout you could try this: Find a Linux distribution such as Ubuntu, burn it to cd, when its loaded click "Try Ubuntu", and once connected to the internet press Alt+F2 and copy in "(sudo apt-get install arista); arista-gtk". I tried another program called Transmaggedon, but although it gave more control over transcoding, it didn't appear to work.
Ya handbreak did work. Unfortunately I still have to demux both the original and post-hb file to transfer the subs over as handbreak isn't doing it.
Thx for the help. I would still like to know the resolution limitation tho so if anyone knows...
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
So I have been fooling around with it some more and found that when I recode using handbreak I don't need to change the vid resolution, just have to force it to 24fps and everything, vid/audio/subs, sync fine (source is 30fps).
I don't think the epic supports ogg/vorbis audio, which explains why the source material didn't work, but then after remuxing with compatible audio why wouldn't it work? All I can think of is handbreak is compressing the bitrate even though I'm not changing any settings there...
I'll update with any new findings.
I took another look around and it looks like SUPER would work quite well. It can use FFmpeg which has support for pretty much every known format and gives you a lot of control over the output. I really didn't expect to find anything this good on Windows, but FFmpeg was originally used under GNU/Linux, so it isn't as surprising.

Strange, I run mkv with no problem at all. I use Double Twist as my player. Not sure whether this has built in codecs for mkv. I never checked because I can play everything on my phone. Except damn Netflix of course.
Thx for the recommendation chinoto.
The mkv capablity should be built into the phone independent of the software playing it (at least that's my understanding). All of my reencoded mkv's are working fine which I'm attrbuting to the lower bit rate.
The original bitrate was 1,534Kbps (video), handbreak compresses it to 681Kbps at the same resolution (24fps from 30fps original for sync though).
What's the highest bitrate you guys have had work correctly (no syncing issues even after seeking)?

1. you must sign into NetFlix & select the "High" quality video settings in your account settings page.
2. NetFlix app looks at the mode that the device is running in, both workspace resolution & app resolution. I set mine to 720px at workspace & 720px for the app resolution at 213DPI using the Paranoid Android rom's Paranoid Settings selections in settings & I get HD video for HD content.
3. NetFlix as well as Amazon servers perform a speed test to determine the best video type to stream. If you are below 15mbps it sometimes will kick over to SD. I usually am at about 40Mbps both via LTE & my home WiFi & I get HD streams there, but at the office it drops down to SD.
Amazon VOD will also work using the stock CM browser. It will also stream HD content if it is setup correctly.
Yeah. I had already set high quality for Netflix. WiFi at home is 20/5 and lte at work is 64/16. Anyone else completely stock with this?

"Snap to HD" = what does that mean? Play in HD?
How do you tell if it's playing in HD? Mine shows up in what looks like HD....my home 15/1.

When you start Netflix it usually starts in sd and progresses or "snaps" to hd on all of my other devices I have owned. This one just seems to have a lower resolution and lots of video artifacts while playing. Comparing Netflix between my gs3, ps3, xb360, and Wii I would say that it is equal to or just below the Wii which does not do hd at all
And nexus 7 is much clearer

Oh, like it transitions from SD to HD? Mine, totally stock (UCALH9) from AT&T, seems to start out very blocky, transitions in a few seconds to "SD," and then finally ends on HD about 30-40 seconds in.
Check the attached screenies...it's working here. Do you have any data compression apps installed?
If I do they came on the phone and I am unaware if them
Unsure, then. I mean, it could be a butt-load of things unique to your phone: apps you have, any power saving functions on, etc. Or even some messed up QoS on your router. I had a laggy GS3 and slowly kept uninstalling apps until I found it: mine was a bad widget that needed to be reloaded.
The foolproof would be a reset. Or, if you have another GS3, to compare it. The N7 might well have better WiFi/LTE antennas or something.
This is exactly opposite of my problem with Netflix.. I can't seem to get it OFF of HD and so I simply cannot use it or it just goes through too much data for my monthly plan. Looks gorgeous though!

I suggest to record the videos in the DCIM directory though, in the same place as the regular video directory. It would be less messy and handy for the auto-upload through Dropbox. Actually, the best would be to have an select option.

Thanks for update !
I have bought HD version this week , working perfect !
Could you add an option to actrivate or not the start/stop beeeep please ?
Thanks for your work ! Great App !
thanks for no response ! i managed to do myself .....
For users how want "silent" this app :
Need root : Go to System/media/audio/ui/
Simply rename Cam_Start.ogg and Cam_Stop.ogg to Cam_Start.ogg.back and Cam_Stop.ogg.back
Or remove them directly
Test .... yeahh silent mode for ever ! :highfive:
Would be a good idea to implement this in your app , for non rooted users ...
Cheers
Can you guys recommend some way(the best way) to watch 1080p on the nexus.
No use in wasting the screen on the stupid native app, which nevermind not allowing FHD, simply has HORRIBLE upscaling.
I've tried some apps which mostly fail catastrophically for one reason or another.
Examples:
Not respecting forced orientation(a lot of the time I use the tablet laying down with my head in "landscape" mode so to speak).
Horrible UI navigation.
Or simply not being able to open/paste YT video links.

The viral floating whatchamacallit actually has potential.
It does say that it supports 1080p so this has to be a bug.
So let's see what the feedback from the dev is.
Looks like the dev removed mention of 1080p from the app description. Shame, because it looks like a good app. Does anyone know of any 1080p solutions for us non-rooted people who can't use the modified YouTube apk?

Could you please try to open the video with the Google Photos app:
On stock OOS 3.2.2, slowmotion videos are treated as high framerate videos

Has anyone tried Open Camera to record 60fps at 1080p? I tried this on an Honor 7 (as 60fps doesn't come as standard on that phone) but the results were no better than the standard camera app at 30fps.
