Link Fixed ;-)
I already have developed a version of this app with the new SDK, so the emulation modus should work there, but i cant test it without a software update for my nexus... damn google, hurry up and update GIT with the new NFC classes!!! ;-)
I am so hoping for a phone/oyster card merge in the near future, will be nice to leave the wallet at home ^.^
That is presuming it's possible. Nice to see some NFC groundwork allready being done. Should be an interesting year
is there a way to check if nfc is working correctly? i was not able yet to scan anything..i even don't know what i could scan here in germany
great stuff! cant wait for 2.3.3 (or whatever that has NFC api's), apparently we're getting an update soon (http://engt.co/eivVFI) with bug fixes, dont know if that has the NFC api's.
i have 3 RFID cards i want to use!!!!
@djbrutale, have you seen this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957104
this guy apparently has a i9023 with Android 2.3.3!!! and he also has a different tags application! may be you can test it on his?
Nice - Can't wait till all the features become available.

yeah, i have seen this...
but i have to wait for the update, i need it on my developer phone, otherwise i cant test it. Some rumours says it comes next week... so lets wait and hope ;-)
If you already have 2.3.3 u can check out the NXP version

looks like they did the same work as i had planed :-D

does yours work like 'store - and - transmit'? i.e. scan my oyster in and use the phone instead?

I think i can only emulate Ndef Tags like SmartPoster, URLs...
If you have the Mifare Keys u could read out the card completely or change something on the card, but i think u will never be able to emulate a complete mifare card with the NXP chip on the phone... That would be crazy if NXP let that happen ;-)
My software will be able to share contacts and files via NFC.
Collecting tags like a SmartPoster and share them again with NFC.
Maybe i implement a full readout from the mifare cards with the std. keys, so if u have luck u can read whats on the mifare card, but i will be hard to emulate that.

Added a new feature. the complete payload of the mifare card will be read out ;-)
Well the emulation modus is a tricky thing, i guess... not sure if im able to get access to the secure module...
tried it - it reads, but some times says reading fails. and it seems to crash the settings > NFC switch.
great news about the mifare card readout.
is it possible to erase a mifare card?
I have an Xperia S myself, and with it you get 2 Smarttags. (I bought 4 more)
!You can have a maximum of 4 Smarttags or you will have to use duplicates!
These tags can be scanned using NFC and you can set certain actions to perform.
My 4 tags are setup as follows:
Tag 1: Home
Turn On: Wifi
Turn Off: Bluetooth
Turn Off: GPS
Turn On: Loud Sound
Tag 2: Bedroom
Turn Off: Wifi
Turn Off: Bluetooth
Turn Off: GPS
Turn Off: Sound
Start app: Clock (for alarm)
Tag 3: Work
Turn On: Wifi
Turn Off: Bluetooth
Turn Off: GPS
Turn Off: Sound
Tag 4: Car
Turn Of: Wifi
Turn On: Bluetooth
Turn On: GPS
Turn On: Sound
Start app: CoPilot Live
Now whenever I scan my smarttags with either my One X or my Xperia S they will do the same! it's awesome!
For this however, you will need the Manage Liveware App from the Xperia S
Installation
Method 1:
Download Liveware manager from the Play Store
Method 2:
1). download the attached apk
2). push the file to the phone
Code:
adb push livewaremanager.apk /system/app/
Method 3:
1). download the attached apk
2). Copy the apk to your sdcard from your pc
3). Copy the file into /system/app/ using ES File Explorer, Root Explorer, or some other form. You must have SYSTEM set to Mounted and Root enabled. Check your explorer app's SETTINGS to do this.
Open the new app in your appdrawer (livewaremanager)
- the app will ask to downdload the smarttags app, just accept the download.
- turn on NFC (settings/wireless/NFC)
- Scan your smarttag (you can buy 4 Smarttags for about €15,-)
- ??
- Profit!
! This will only work with the official Sony Smarttags, or a tag with the exact same URL inside it! !
The Smarttag URI's
- taken from Indianl's post
If you happen to have un-used NFC tags laying around in a drawer, here is how to use them with the Xperia Smart Tag app from Sony.
Use an app which is capable of writing custom URIs to NFC tags (NFC Task Launcher is able to do that ) and write the following URIs to your NFC tag:
For the blue tag: semc://liveware/A1/1/NT1/1/smarttags1
For the red tag: semc://liveware/A1/1/NT1/2/smarttags1
For the black tag: semc://liveware/A1/1/NT1/3/smarttags1
For the white tag: semc://liveware/A1/1/NT1/4/smarttags1
!You can have a maximum of 4 Smarttags or you will have to use duplicates!
Have fun guys!
Use the Thanks button if this helped you!

i think you can buy from amazon or e-bay, im going to buy a xperia sola with nfc smart tags pack
Xperia s nfc tag
Sorry guy , you can have 5 tags , not 4
For the favorite tag: semc://liveware/A1/1/NT1/0/smarttags1
No need to try other digit we have try all possibilities
by the way the couple : Liveware/SmartTags app work with all device include those in 4.XXX include the Galaxy note with NFC chipset (not all country have it)
We are working on our own, with more useful function
PS: the tags for the Sony app’s is the Mifare Ultralight (the smallest size) , but since you want better function (like on/off app or setting) you must buy bigger one aka Mifare classic or Fudan

you will paid your tag 5 to 10 times than the market price if you choose the sony one
the sony tags for 4 is like USD 13 officially from hong kong, but i'm going to try out these underground metro NFC tag from china, I think they will work and the tags are about USD 0.34 each, I know that store value cards do work, so i'm sure the tag coins for china underground will work too.
what are nfc smart tags and what are they used for? Sorry for the silly question but i never heard of them and I am kinda new to all this NFC stuff I have a nexus s 4g with a nfc chip built in?
I am using the way you have mentioned, but if I have a tag which enables GPS and also starts GPS application (Sygic), the privacy policy for gps pops up each time I show this tag. Is there a way to bypass or disable this privacy policy pop up.
there should be an option under settings to prevent the policy from displaying
Thanks!
Your links sectin repaired my tag
Hello there,
is it possible to use my HTC One X as an NFC Tag?
My goal is to scan a normal NFC Tag (1k) with my phone and store the informations. And then I'll provide this informations with my phone, so an other NFC Reader can read the informations stored on my phone.
Greetz
It is possible as the NXP chip most likely used by the HTC (and known to be in Nexus S/galaxy) can be put into card emulation mode but the current kernel does not support it. There has been at least one user that has gotten it to work on the Nexus S.

Hi i believe NFC ReTag will do the trick , or at Least NFC TagReader , can also be use as ask … but that will depend on what you will store in … as you didn’t say it ican’r help you more at this stage.

I'd really like to do the same thing.. but haven't had any success in finding a way to do that. I would personally love to scan my work badge and use my phone instead of my badge which I commonly leave at home. It would also be great for hotels where I commonly lose my hotel key and could instead use my phone.
Any advice on these being a possibility. Any additional information I need to provide. I personally have the HTC EVO 4G LTE and my wife has the Nexus S 4G that I could use.
card emulation
try NFClassic.apk its in the android market, i cannot confirm it works but it appears to and i will test it tomorrow, it recognises my work card it picks up 2 tags, one will be door access and the other is canteen credit, (the app doesnt tell you this, but i know there 2 parts to the card, as i recently cancelled a card then found it, and can no longer access doors with it, but can still use it in the canteen) anyway the app reads the card and asks if you want to save the info, save it, the you will see it under saved tags click the tag, and click share tag, it then appears to emulate the tag as a card so it can be read by a nfc card reader, but i dont have a reader to confirm this, but i will try it tomorrow night at work to see if the doors accept it, ill let you know my results
and if anyone else know of any apps that can definatley emulate cards on galaxy s 3 let me know ! the more software i can try at work the more likely ill find one that works, i only got my s3 yesterday and have been of work so havnt tested any app, but NFClassic is the only one that appears to emulate my card.
note the app cannot write cards, only has options to write contact to card but when tried it force closes. i would definatly like to be able to write to card if at all possible ( free lunch copy card when it has credit , when run out of credit, re-write info = credit again its gotta be possible somehow ! )

NFC ReTag can´t do that ... but a lot of other cool stuff
I tried nfclassic and that didn't work I'm also looking for NFC card emulation
I'm not sure about other phones but Evo4GLTE's have Android beam that should do what is wanted
This didn't even occur to me til I saw this thread. I will be trying with my work badge since I occasionally forget mine as well...
I am still deciding between getting the S3 and the EVO 4G LTE. Leaning towards evo... but haven't played with the s3 yet.
I don't have your HTC, although there's documented info for the nexus s where devs were successful in emulating mifare most of the code is still on dev android. Its not full reigns of emulation but depending on your level of tech you can do some pretty cool stuff. I don't know how far this has gone but I remember people getting some functionality on new galaxy. Check out the link.

I was thinking the same thing!
The most "advanced" operations that i was able to do with the Galaxy Nexus were saving actions with differents cards. But that's all.
By the way, i use NFC ReTag to achieve it.
What I was just referring to was emulation how I perceived the op was looking for. Example you use a card at work to open a door and wanted to emulate that so you could use your phone instead. However with gwallet or say paywave then you'd need to have the secure key which obviously wouldn't just be given out otherwise you would be able to emulate anyone's card. Hence the secure element. Then it would be ridiculously insecure. Ex. If I took a friends paywave and was able to emulate it then now I in theory just stole their credit card . It's also why gwallet won't work without a secure element like on my sgs2.

anyone trythis
ive seen the video after flashing and kinda dissapointed
bcos they cannot prove that nexus s can be the nfc tag anyway they donk have the reader too to test it
Hmmm...
Hey guys.. i went searching in the marketplace for an app that does just that (emulate a RFID)...
And... I FOUND ONE!It's called NFC Classic Tag Reader
It was able to read my cards and apparently emulate it but i have no idea if it works cause my door does not detect it... and i have no other NFC devices...
I'm using a SHS-5120 door lock... and that only registers the serial no of the tags programmed and allows only those to enter...
Read on the comments that ICS users are not getting it to work but previous 2.3.3 user reviewed that it was working like a charm...
Oh and i'm using a S3... which of course is ICS...
I reckoned Google Wallet will store something into the mobile NFC chip. Make the phone like a RFID card or tag.
I also noticed some Korean telecom operators has their apps integrated on the Android phones which have the Membership card, Voucher, Credit card etc. functionality. That means the NFC enabled phone can be acted as RFID card or tag.
Is there anyone know where we can find the source code sample from Google development website we could look into this kind of project?
We have HID sensors on doors at work as well as a clocking in system and both use different cards so I'm going to have a go with them on Monday with my SGS3.

any luck with doors?
Anyone any luck with being able to push/publish his phone as a card? Like for instance with doors?
We have Mifare Classic cards which open doors, reading the card isn't a problem, but being able to emulate your phone as a card has proven to be more difficult..
How does one turn his phone into 'beacon mode' (being able to receive the door's power boost and return card info) ?
Hi
I want a good nfc task App. I have seen one called nfc tasker. But is it any good? Dødes anyone have sugestions for other apps?
nfc task launcher, they have cheap tags through their app store too
Is it easy to use?
+1 for NFC Task Launcher. Best & Pretties NFC app.
Real easy to use. Pick a Profile (Car, Home, Bed, Office), and write to tag. Add other task to the pre-made profiles, or make your own from scratch. Erase tags too.
If you want to write URLs, V-Cards, Messages, etc then get Tagstand Writer (by the same developers of NFC Task Launcher)
(also in NFC Task Launcher, scroll to the left to "Free Tags" and get two free tags by posting to Twitter)
Is there an app that lets me read a nfc/rfid card and later lets the phone act as that card?

It has nothing to do with it. It would simply make less for some of us to carry.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
Basically NFC is based on RFID standards but uses different frequencies so the two don't work together. That said, many companies are embracing NFC now and things like Mastercard Paypass and Visa Paywave technology use it. If these companies pulled their finger out and actually started allowing us to connect our accounts to the phone through the likes of Google Wallet, we could do away with physical wallets altogether!
Security is the big issue though and this is why you will never be able to just scan and then use a card, imagine how easy it would be to just swish your phone past someones wallet in a queue and then pay with their card! There is already equipment fairly readily available that can be put together and programmed to do this, putting that tech in everyones hands would be asking for trouble.
Back on topic. I highly recommend NFC Task Launcher and, for ultimate automation, use it with Tasker. That lets you do basically anything you want with your phone at the simple swipe of a tag.
I see, I did get a all that reads the access card @work so I was thinking that an app would let me read and replicate so that I could enter the office complex even if I forgot my card...
Hello guys !
I'm planing to buy some NFC Tags.
I'm having to option's but I'm more prefer one of them as I can have 2 NFC tags instead of one.
Here are they:
http://www.airnfc.com/collections/all/products/nfc-ntag203-white-1
http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Android-NFC-...er_Cell_Phone_Accessories&hash=item27cee0b1d7
But as I said, I more prefer the one from AirNFC as they are cheaper and I could have them more.
But the question is with the AirNFC, there is an blank option or NDEF formatted. If I pick blank will they work and then can configure what action should be taken when phone detect's them ?
And a last question is do they work with App from Sony: Smart Connect ?
Also my phone is Sony Xperia L.

Funny, the AirNFC guyswant 0,4€ for formating ...hmm ok,I think it´s a fair deal, if they handle each tag manually .... and it´s a good quality check.
However if you want to decide between these 2 sellers and only the price matters, I would go for the unformatted AirNFC tags ....all good android nfc writers should be able to format them ...I even included a format option within NFC ReTag (although ReTag is not a classical nfc writer app).
additional Pro: fully nfc forum compliant ....con: less memory than the ebay mifare tags.
Both tag types should be compatible with your xperia .... the sony smart connect guys "forgot" the option to write tags, but with the right content on it, you should be able to use them both with the smart connect app ....(have again a look at Retag .. the (more--> write smarttag for sony devices option ) ... and if you already installed retag, i don´t think you would need the sony app anyway ;-P
