I have Android Pay installed and running. It was a very easy process as follows:
- I downloaded the APK (i hadn't received the update and I was impatient.) Grabbed it from the link here: http://www.droid-life.com/2015/09/10/android-pay-launches-today/
- Installed the app, but did not open it to configure.
- Instead I went to SuperSU, Settings, then I unticked Enable SuperSU.
- Went back to Android Pay and added my credit card info. Completed that without error message.
- Went back to SuperSU, re-ticked the box. Done.
NOTE: This is Android Pay, from Google. Not Samsung Pay, which is of course a Samsung product. Android Pay already had the credit card information that I use in the Play store, lacking only the 3-digit code from the back, which I had to fill in. I emphasize that, because I was not really providing new information. Samsung Pay is not out yet, may not be usable because I have tripped Knox and has a separate set of security concerns.

Yes to all, as indicated in my signature. Ramified ROM, OH1-V2 with UniKernel V8-0001. And Knox tripped, of course.

OK, so I did something stupid.
I was running 4.1.2, Rooted with a Perseus Kernel until I got "ambitious" and downloaded 4.3.
Everything went really well and the device rebooted fine and is working really nice and fast.
But, of course, I lost root, and the binary counter indicated "1" which didn't worry me.
So anyway, a couple of hours I decided to try rooting again with the same process that I used before since I still have the Windows Partition on my Mac and that went well too. Took all of five minutes. Now, the Binary Counter reads '2'.
BUT comma... None of my rooted apps will work. I keep on getting the dialogue... "Sorry, I could not acquire root privileges. This application will *not* work! Please verify that your ROM is rooted, and try again.
This attempt was made using the "/system/xbin/su" command.
After downloading 4.3, I didn't enroll in "The School Of Hard KNOX" and didn't install it, or whatever it is that you have to do to activate it... the window came up, but I didn't go for it. I just bypassed it, and it's not running (At least it's not under the running apps column).
This might be connected, but I also got this message after rebooting earlier, having to do with Google Play Store.
"Samsung is continuously working to improve the security policy on your device. Make sure you update the Security Policy on yur device.
Make sure your device is protected by updating the Security Policy to the latest version from Samsung.
And then I got a message having to do with the "XPrivacy App".
I just uninstalled Titanium Backup and The Titanium Backup Pro key, and reinstalled from the Play store, but it still gives me the same no access message.
Custom Binary Download: Yes (2counts)
Current Binary: Custom
System Status: Custom.
This just happened when I booted.
SuoerSU
"There is no SU binary installed and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem.
If you just upgraded to Android 4.3, you need to manually re-root - consult the relevant forums for your device."
Kinda stumped.

Last night I tried to flash the Cyanogenmod Installer without success. I tried multiple times and each time I kept on getting this Security Information message on my phone: "An application attempted to access system on your device without authorization. This attempt has been blocked...."
I did delete the antivirus app on my phone and so I know that it isn't that. Could this possibly be Knox? We had been told that the CM team had a workaround for those I747 on Android 4.3, like mine.

If you're rooted, download SuperSU from the Play store (I rooted, but the version of SuperSU that was installed was an old version and needed to be updated by manually downloading from the store). When you run it, it will detect that Knox is running and offer to disable it for you.

I wasn't able to find any way to get around Knox without rooting, but I may not have looked hard enough.
If you're willing to root first, CF Auto Root was super easy to do:

Thanks for the reply. I have never rooted not flashed a rom and so I thought that the CM Installer would be an easy way to get started. However, basically like everyone else, they ran into issues with phones that had been upgraded to JB 4.3. They recently posted that they had found a way around it but I started to wonder if in fact they had when I got the message:
"An application attempted to access system on your device without authorization. This attempt has been blocked...."
I was trying to ascertain whether the message was due to Knox or another program?

That *is* a Knox message, for sure.
So it looks like the Cyanogenmod team were not able to circumvent Knox for their CM installer. It's probably just a matter of time. Here is the full Knox notification:
"An application attempted to access system on your device without authorization. This attempt has been blocked. Updating your security policy may solve this problem. Deleting applications obtained from unauthorized sources may improve security."
There are three options at the bottom of the screen: Cancel, Update, and View Apps.
Update: I was able two days ago to use the Cyanogenmod Installer and I am now running CM!! First time for me to ever root and flash a Rom (I was an iPhone guy).
The phone is faster and smoother. I never liked the Touchwiz lag and most of the Touchwiz features worked inconsistently. The only thing that I miss is the camera. I have not found any bugs yet and so am very happy thus far.
Hello to all,
I recently rooted my sgs3 sph-L710 v4.3 and am experiencing some problems. Whenever I try to open superusers it automatically closes, and I receive a notification saying, "security notice an attempt to access a secure area on your phone without authorization has been blocked." After doing some research online I discovered that the 4.3 version is protected by KNOX. Online sources state that in order to defeat the KNOX system you must update supersu, but I am not sure how to do that. Whenever I download supersu from the Google play store there is no option to update it. I would really appreciate any help thanks.

Have you checked to make sure you haven't lost root? When you install an app from Google play, you get the latest version.
sent from my GS3
Also, have you actually opened up the SuperSU app? You need to open it up (not just download it) so that it will prompt you about disabling Knox, and it might also prompt you to update the binaries. And which custom recovery are you using? If need be, you can flash the SuperSU zip from recovery, and if you are using Philz Touch (HIGHLY recommended) there is an option to have it check for root before booting back into system.
I did it!!!

Yes I finally got it to work I just re rooted the device and superuser was gone. However, i downloaded supersu and it prompted me to update, i did and I was able to bypass knox! I think it was a problem with the method I used to get my phone rooted the first time. The video tutorial I watched the first time told me to uncheck the 2 boxes that come prechecked on odin i believe one of them was auto reboot i cant recall the other one. Then I took out the battery of the phone and selected the root file through mod recovery mode and that was it. The second time around I left the boxes checked and my phone auto restarted. I then downloaded supersu updated, rebooted, and Visalia!!!
Thanks guys I appreciate the help.
I'm brand new to this website, and have only signed up because I cannot find a solution for this problem. I have always used the forum to get answers, but never though to join! My Galaxy Tab S 8.4 4G T705Y was put through the CF-Auto-Root method, and no a glitch at all. Very smooth. By the way I checked the ChainFire website to make sure I was using the latest. When my device started up I noticed, as I have done before with my Nexus phones, that SuperSU has been added. Good Sign!
But when I open SuperSU I was prompted to update the Binary. Then I pressed 'continue', used the 'normal' method, and waited. It then asked me if I would like to Disable Knox. Yes I would! FAILED TO DISABLE KNOX. Shut down SuperSU. Unhappy Face. As you can see at this point, I am not very up to speed with my rooting knowledge.
So then I decided to select the 'never' option to updating SuperSU, and still it failed to update the binary, I'd say due to Knox stopping it from gaining access.
So my pickle is this: I can't update SuperSU because Knox will not allow me to use SuperSU. I cannot simply hit yes to disabling Knox in SuperSU, as that didn't work for me. I also tried finding something called Knox on my tablet and it seems to be very elusive. I tried updating SuperSU on Play Store also, but to no avail!
I am also unable to use any third party app to do so as I need to grant them access in SuperSU before they can begin! And around I go...
There is a guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2540761 but it's not for my device so I'm a bit hesitant to start trying random things, as my device is working great atm!
Any info or help would be greatly appreciated!
Look in the android development section for my updated builds of cf_autoroot and flash that.
If you still get issues flash supersu v2.49 with twrp.

That seemed to at least do something, now it's saying there is no SU Binary installed. So I googled how to do that, then saw you needed TWRP to do so. And in order to get that, I needed the SDK and JDK, so I got them, but then in then couldn't find any of the right files in the SDK folder when trying to install through command prompt. There is a cool program called TWRP Manager that claims to do it, but you need root access. Lets not go there. So method 2: you needed to use a program like GooManager. But even then root access seems to be the order of the day. Ive tried Terminal Emulator and Package disabler also.

Whoah way way way over complicating things. You just install twrp with odin and that's it.
Then you flash this with twrp http://download.chainfire.eu/743/SuperSU/BETA-SuperSU-v2.52.zip

So this is what I do.
Power off device.
Restart in Download Mode.
Use Odin to install the cf-autoroot-twrp-t705.tar from the development section.
When device restarts I put supersu version 2.52 (beta) on the devices memory, then turn off device.
Restart in TWRP Recovery mode, hit install, choose the zip file, install, reboot device.
When device reboots, open superuser and get this message: "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem! If you just upgraded to Android 4.3, you need to manually re-root - consult the relevant forums for your device".
I swear i'm not blonde. :good:

This doesn't make sense. Something is amiss if you can't root with cf_autoroot or twrp. You are the only one as far as I'm aware that has experienced this.
Reactivation lock is under 'Find my phone' in security settings.

Chimed in with some feedback but noticed your problem solved after I replied. Unable to delete. Glad to see you're good to go though.
FIX:
1. Add Google Services to Magisk Hide (if you're on Magisk 18.1 use "su magiskhide --add com.google.android.gms" in terminal)
2. Add Google Pay and Google Services Framework to Magisk Hide
3. Go to data/data and rename com.google.android.gms to com.google.android.gms.bak for example (or delete it altogether, but backing up seems safer)
Reboot and do whatever you like in GPay, it should work now. That's all I've done. I don't think you need to reinstall Magisk.

Long thread and a lot of moving parts, so work backwards on the thread. Personally, I am just waiting until a final and formal fix is found on stable Magisk and up to date Play apps.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/app...ssion-t3906703
My experience with this issue is I run GPay, go back to Magisk, safetynet fails on both.. So I force close Magisk, clear cache and data.. reboot. Open Magisk back up, Safetynet passes.. Gpay sets up fine. Sometimes you have to do this several times and it's a real pain but it's always worked for me..

4. Download this update - https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...-7-99-release/

5. Disable Background data access for Google Play Services and Google Play in their respective App Info pages.
6. Download Google Pay from the Play Store.
7. Set up your cards. Enjoy!

I know.. it's ridiculous, appreciate the clarification!
I have the same problem, Gpay detects root.
After I've gained root using extracted boot.img from January's update and Magisk, it's impossible to hide the root.
Natwest bank app won't let me use fingerprint because it detects root, even Zoho mail detect root.
I am going to unroot, install march's update, then re-root using the same method, and if still doesn't work I will try what you described "dipstik"
I will let you know once it's done.

I update this way:
Copy 18.1 Magisk to the phone.
Flash the factory image after editing out the -w so data is saved.
Boot to TWRP, but I do not install it.
Install the Magisk zip with TWRP.
That's it. I have never had a problem with GPay. I also have it hidden in Magisk, perhaps because I have always had it hidden I am ok.....dunno.

TonikJDK,
Have you added a card and actually used GPay at the terminal since this all started? I am in the same boat as you.
GPay is installed and opens fine on my wife's Pixel 3. Her device is running stock/rooted March rooted with 18.1 and has no TWRP. The only two things hidden are GPay and Play Store. The catch is that the card was already there. The new version of GPay showed up after clearing data/cache for Play Store and was loaded right after March install which decertified the design in Play Store forcing the data/cache clear. The card was always there. I have been hesitant to try loading a card or using this one at the terminal due to all of this.
My Pixel 3 XL also opens GPay fine, but like hers I have been hesitant to add a card or use it at the terminal. I am running dotOS (based on February), rooted with 18.1 with TWRP 3.2.3-3 fully installed. Same two relevant aps hidden, but in my case I didn't have to do anything to get the new version of GPay to show up since I didn't install March.

Thanks. That gives me some comfort in using the already loaded cards at least. I am not planning on loading any new cards or having to start from scratch any time soon. Seems like an already working GPay with a previously loaded card is OK.

Sadly this method only works for a limited time.
Overnight GPS updates to version 15 by its own self and GP stops working.
I'm not sure I'm ready to to this procedure daily just for Google pay. For the time being I'll use my card until Magisk developer finds solution to this problem.
Well, I jinxed it a few posts back saying I was ok. It just told me no more when I used it.
yeah nothing worked for me even when I uninstalled magisk and tried the steps above on stock. Ended up factory resetting. but thats the last move to do
