Hi, I just received my brand new SW3 and I'm having trouble setting it up.
I link it to my phone (Galaxy S6) and then it brings up the "Downloading" screen on the watch. About 1/10th of the way through it comes up on the screen that "Android Wear has stopped", followed by "Google Play services has stopped".
I've tried resetting the process many times and it happens over and over.
Any advice?
Edit: Downgraded to an earlier version of the Android Wear app, apparently the latest ones don't keep in constant contact with the watch, hence the crash. Went to the version from the 25th February and so far so good, it's got to 50%.
Have you got the latest firmware on the watch? I have a sw3 and s6 combination - it has been difficult with the latest updates, but a new version of play services a few days ago seems to have helped

For anyone interested, the exact wear companion version that can get you past this error is 1.0.5.1724356. It will update device from 4.4.* to 5.0.2. You may get a warning that "something went wrong" while downloading which can be ignored.
I'm having this exact problem. After using the earlier Wear app, should I update it after?
My wife had this same issue with her watch when she was trying to set it up. She has a S5. It kept getting stuck at the same point when downloading. I thought the watch was defective but it was an issue with the phone. I used my phone to setup the watch instead and had no problem. After it finished I connected it back to her phone and she hasn't had any problems since.

Out of nowhere today, my watch started to constantly show "Unfortunately, Android Wear has stopped." I can not get into the menus, and changing the face on my phone does nothing. I've tried turning it on and off but it hasn't helped. It still connects to my phone. Is there a way to reset it?
This briefly happened to me as well, it appeared to be a weak Bluetooth connectivity issue. Once I got closer to my phone things improved. However once I got control back I did remove the extra watch faces I have installed.

I had the same issue after I update the 360 to 5.1.1 and could never get it working. Had to call Moto for a replacement. Just got it yesterday and it has 5.0.1 and I'm not sure if I should take the OTA update that keep popping up.
My watch was on:
Android Wear version - 1.3.0.2166028
Play Services = 7.8.99
Android OS = 5.1.1
As you can see it was stuck on the old version of Google play services for some reason 7.8.99 for some reason. This is a software glitch that my watch had but my girls moto 360 was just fine.
My watch would glitch out and crash many times a day.
It is the newest update to the android wear app that does not like google play services 7.8.99. Nothing i did could force an update so i had to revert to an earlier version of android wear app and the watch worked just fine.
What finally fixed my watch was the update to 6.0.1 that happened for my watch last night. These are the steps to take to make it happen smoothly.
1: With the newest version of android wear on the phone do a factory reset to your watch.
2: Place the watch on the charger and go through watch setup.
3: Once done syncing take the watch off the charger and connect it to your home wifi. Then go into setting and check for an update.
If no update repeat steps 1-3
4: If the update starts downloading go into the android wear app and disconnect the watch. Turn off bluetooth as well just incase.
(This is because it is the app itself that causes the phone to crash. The watch will then hook up to wifi and finish the download...it will also be faster)
5: Put watch on charger wait a while and the download should be ready. Make sure it is over 80% and start update. I recommend keeping it on the charger.
After its done you should be all good to go. All versions should be up to date. Mine is running great!
Hope this helps everyone!
Doesn't work for me. Tried three times.
I have a different one here, all good but for the android wear app keep crashing while scrolling down in 'watch storage' after the 6.0.1 update.
Factory reset watch, cleaning app cache didn't help.

forget and reset watch. leave the watch on the charger and let it sync everything. it can take a very long time. i recommend doing it while you sleep. just let it sit and it should be fine
No, still doesn't see it.

hello guys, since some days i am getting this "unfortunately , android wear has stopped working" notification again n gain on my watch i also formatted the watch but it dint help, and solution please???
Aghh. I get this almost every time my watch disconnects from phone when it's too far. The whole watch starts acting weird, notifications popping out of nowhere, everything vibrating and then it all stops. Doesn't happen if I disable bluetooth on my phone manually tho.

Don't know if this is relevant, but on my S7e running the Nougat Beta, I was getting the same constant Android Wear message. Turns out that with my phone resolution set highest was causing it. Went back to FHD and it fixed it.
US firmware S8+ (orig. t-mobile)
Just got my Zenwatch 3, and installed the latest version of Android Wear, as well as the Google App. Reset the connection, watch, reset my phone, this ****ty notification keeps popping up every 30 seconds. Any ideas?
Thanks.
I was running my galaxy watch on my pixel 3xl, Android R dp1 with just some lag. Today my phone updated to dp2. It seemed as if the lag on the watch went away. Anyways, I did a factory reset on my phone and now my watch won't finish pairing. It goes thru the process where it says that it paired and to approve the permissions. But then I get a lovely pop-up that says "companion device manager keeps stopping". The watch just says to check phone to complete setup, meanwhile the wear app just goes in a loop of pairing, asking for permissions, going to the settings, then companion app stopping. Does anyone have any ideas? I've tried resetting the watch and I can't find anything on Google or xda. Thank you in advance.
