As I can understand, It's needed for recording that far end of a call.
without that patch you will only record your mic, you will not record what you hear in the speakers.
So if you don't record your calls, you will not need it.

Unfortunately my thread was moved to the general section, where I know few in the dev community hang out (including myself), so if any of the ROM developers missed it:
[MOD] [ICS] Increase maximum bluetooth a2dp bitpool to 64!
This quick and simple patch sets the MAX_BITPOOL to 64 instead of the stock (awful) 35, dramatically improving bluetooth (A2DP) sound quality. I've been using it all night and have seen no issues. Audio quality is much better, on par (as expected) with Cyanogenmod builds. I know us audiophiles would appreciate such an enhancement as part of your roms. :highfive:

however theres one issue i've seen since the initial release of ARHD 10 (i'm on version 11 and still with the same issue) ..the sound quality in VOIP apps (Skype and viber) seems very muffled and low quality ..it was very clear and crisp before in 9.xx versions..not sure if it's related to the rom or JB in general.. but anyone else got this issue ? oh and normal call/music sound quality is perfect btw!

Good performance with some tweaks and pimp my ROM.
But one thing which I am missing the most is sound quality
Any one has any working sound mods compatible with jelly bean...
Earlier I used JJ sechko's Max ROM with ac!d sound tech. and marphytons ROM with xincredible beats bass mod but missing all crisp and bass full sound in jb....
I think xperia line up should have a mod like 'htc universal beats mod' .
i thought sony is best in sound quality .... but nah...
Developers would find a way out to port best sound mod for our $$ Xperia's $$......

Why all cm11 ron for xioami redmi 1s have a audio quality issue?
Mokee , pac , paranoid, carbon, CM unofficial, all of it have a problem with audio.
All the updates are not fixing the issue, the only 1 rom gave me a very best audio quality (beside miui rom) is CM11 R5 20140930. With this rom, i didnt face any issue with speaker quality.
I just imagining how to port all the audio things from CM11 R5 to any other CM11 rom??
Because the newer version (R6 R7 until the latests R11) had a very poor quality.
Please all Cm11 devs for xiaomi redmi 1s, port all the audio things from R5
I hate to hear a distorting sound when i playing music (on all roms except r5)
Im still stay on r5 because any others (all Cm11 roms exc r5) are sucks. Really..
Why must update to the newer version if just gonna broke the audio quality?
On paranoid, i cannot hear a phone call with max volume sound for incoming call.
Its just too low, really. I just tried it for 3 minutes, after i knew there was a problem with the sound, i decide to flash back to the earlier rom.
So please, do this devs.

I'm using mokee rom and have a terrible sound quality even with various music player.
Best audio qulity are stock MIUI.

Saw a lot of threads "also" covering this issue but none of them put it as bluntly. Let's face it, the most basic things that can be expected of a phone are: RING, make & receive CALLS.
Mokee's beautifully enhancing the smartness and kind of killing the phone. What's the point of updates if something as fundamental is casually ignored.
Songs, ringtones, calls on speakerphone crackle. So bad that MIUI looks God-like in comparison. Not exaggerating.. I am a legacy "dumb" phone user.

The issue with most of these roms is that it needs the kernel source for the sound. Without it. There is jot much one can do.
