Phone is working well after rebooting. Please help me solve this issue.note that my phone was brand new when i purchased
It and it hasnt been modded in any way.

Have you tried resetting(factory reset) your phone?

Yes, i did a factory reset and it didnt help. Read some posts here and there on the net and also tried clearing partition cache, didnt help either. I dont want to root my phone aswel. Is it possible to instal the update by flashing?

Another thing you can try is to find the ruu file for your specific device. But if you bought the HTC as a new never used phone and you didn't root or mod it then you should contact HTC. A stock phone shouldn't have a problem with OTA updates unless somehow it's downloading the wrong version for your device.

I remember doing 2 things that might have caused the problem. 1 is that i have 360 antivirus which gave me a notification about some virus and i repaired it. And secondly i downloaded netqin contact backup which crashed everytime i tried to sign in. Anyway i have also contacted htc and have been given some simple and easy instructions to follow. I hope it will work. Just waiting to get the wifi connection and download the update. If it works ill post it here.

Need a little Help with the Update to 2.2

ok i downloaded the update for 2.2 but i can not get it to load.
i have put it on the sd card and then tried to update from that. but its a no go.
then i renamed the file to update.zip and tried another time and still no go.
so if some one could let me know how to get this thing updated.
are you getting this?
ttp://img507.imageshack.us/img507/5466/img00414201007302042.jpg
add h to the front of the link.
im getting this am im clueless.
I downloaded it using the link directly from HTC, you need to be on a stock 1.47 (I did a reinstall of 1.47 from the HTC ruu, so it was a clean install), copy the update to your sd card and name it update.zip, power off, turn on by pressing power and vol up, select bootloader, then select recovery, once you are at the htc phone with red exclamation mark screen press power and vol up, select apply sdcard: update.zip, it will start scanning the file, then it will prompt to reboot, it will reboot to a green circle with an arrow and begin the installation. Those are the steps I followed and mine updated to 2.2 successfully.
no i downloaded it from Engadget on my phone and then copied it to the computer for safe keeping. but then cleared all storage as well and then added it back on there. on the sd and it will not load.
it just keeps saying that not the right file.
i followed all the instructions to the T.
FYI im unrevoked. Shouldnt matter.
Ok and what were those another time bc i did not see any other then the download.
hey thanks i for got i was on 1.32 still but with up date 1 so i guess that is the issue then. will check it out and see. thanks
Android police has a mirror for the update. HTC has delete the link form their site. I am just letting you guys know how I did it. My phone was not rooted. All stock, from original release to 1.47 update and now this 3.26 update (froyo 2.2).
Anyone else think i gotta get rid of unrevoked off my evo, go to the previous RUU and then update?

Probably so if you want to try 2.2. Also, engadget has a statement from HTC regarding this update:
Update: HTC just shot us a message to clarify that this is not the final ROM version and that the company is strongly recommending not to install this. Additionally, a request has been put in to remove the file from the server, so if you still want to try at your own risk, better download now while it's still available.
Update 2: ... and now it's gone. We're sure crafty internet users can still find the file lingering elsewhere, but you won't be getting it from HTC's servers this weekend. You know the old saying, ye who snoozes, something something, tough luck.
Its running fine for me, so I we will have to see on 8/1 what the ota version will be.
ok i just updated to the 1.47 and now its telling me that the it can not open the sd card. and or failed to open directory

I had issues with my sd since I purchased the phone (wouldn't show up as a drive on a mac, etc), I formatted the sd card earlier this week, and now all my problems are gone.

I wasn't saying not to do it, in fact I am trying to help, I did mine successfully. I was just posting HTC's response as to why they removed the file from their servers. They say it isn't the final Froyo 2.2 update.
that i did. and i even tried just leaving it the way was downloaded. and still it does the same. that is the reason maybe i need to redownload it. any links to a download.
I don't have rights to post links, sorry
Edit: guess I do, lol
http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/07/30/breaking-htc-releases-android-2-2-froyo-ota-for-evo4g-download/
Also, even though HTC is saying this isn't the final update, it has the build number sprint posted, 3.26.651.3, so not sure what else is missing.

HELP! 3 UK Software update froyo 2.2 not installing

Sorry if this is in the wrong area of the forums.
I try to install the Hutchison 3G UK Froyo 2.2 OTA update on my HTC Desire but when it is installing I get the error icon and the message:
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
My Desire is rooted (used unrevoked) running on the stock rom
Please help, anyway to get past this error will be appreciated.
I fixed it by clicking install later moving the zip to root (easier) then booted into recovery, clicked install zip from sd card, install zip from sd card and then choose the update and followed the steps from then on. Hope this helps.
Somewhere along the process I changed an option and disabled checking for a signature
Still have root until reboot
3 UK ROM & androd 2.1 update - Help please
Hi Calvcoll,
Please could you help me, as it maybe you had the same problem;
I have an unlocked Orange HTC Hero, and someone loaded a 3 UK Rom Android 1.5, from the web forums, which is supposed to be the same as an Offical one from 3. I'm
not sure if they used "update-hero-generic-2.73.771.73-signed.zip" or update-hero-generic-2.73.771.73-rooted-signed.zip. Does it matter?
I now get the 3 UK OTA update to android 2.1, I want to use this and keep all the 3 stuff, but when I try to install, I get the following;
Build : RA-hero-v1.5.2
Finding update package …
Opening update package …
Verifying update package …
E:No signature (660 files)
E:Verification failed
Installation aborted.
What am I doing wrong? I'm really very new to all this.
Thank you.

Sharp fx plus - no clockwork mod

My rooted sharp fx plus is now unable to boot up after doing some modification. I do not have the clockworkmod recovery, so I am unable to load any unsigned roms so I keep getting the response:
--Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted
Can someone help me please. THANKS IN ADVANCE
Sounds like a corrupt boot partition. If its not booting up.

I also tried signing my Roms using the attached file, but have failed so far. I was wondering if obtaining an certificate from a working UNMODIFIED sharp fx plus phone and using that certificate to sign my rom would work. But I don't really know any one else who has the same device that I have.
If you know of anyone with a sharp fx plus device that is not modified, could you obtain the certificate from that device if possible? Its located somewhere in the root of the device (a number of *.pem files, approximately two).
Oh yeah something I've researched with having another bricked phone (my pantech burst). The Sharp FX Plus with it having a Qualcomm processor. The phone may have a lower level device recovery. In tried using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773489 it may help us out idk. AmauryRR has made alot of head way without little to no documentation on the phone. As a side note try looking around if Odin could be any help.

[Q][Solved] Stuck sideloading 4.4 OTA update (Status error 7)

Hello everyone, I'm trying to update my device (Nexus 7 2013 16 Gb Wifi only) to 4.4, but I'm stuck at the verify process... this is the output:
Code:
...
Verifying update package...
Installing update...
Verifying current system...
"/system/app/Books.apk" has unexpected contents.
E:Error in /tmp/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
I guess that it's because I deleted some apps that I didn't need from /system/apps, like Google Books, Movies, and some other stuff...
Can I force the update or is it best to download the 4.3 update, extract de apks and restore them?
Thanks a lot.
Cheers.

You will have to either replace those apps back in system/apps or you can use the factory image to flash it back to stock. You might not need to flash the whole factory image if all that was modified was in the /system directory. All you would have to do is
Code:
fastboot flash system system.img
Same problem

You have to flash the stock image to go back to stock. Then you can use adb sideload to update.
Thank you very much, heat361, that worked like a charm!
Nice one man, it worked for me installing the gpe update!
never mind. solved!

[Q] Galaxy SG3 with error message: failed to verify whole-file signature

I see there are others with this issue and aplogize if this question is reduntant.I do not see my build, that being Sprint - Samsung Galaxy S III, SPH-L710 - 4.1.2, Kerneal version 3.0.31-944783.
I am a NOOB or worse (if there is such a thing)
I had rooted used qbking77 you-tube video, via odin, in hopes to run wifi tether, however I never was able to get tethering to work, so I restored to stock.....or so I thought....again via odin and qbking77.
I have since found xda developers, and trust the knowledge and advice found here. I am not confindent in my own ablilties however, I would feel confident in guidance from xda, if someone would be so kind as to point me to the right link for my phone to correct this problem.
I constantly get a message that up-dates are avaiable, when I try to up-date I get the following message:
CWM - based recovery V5.5.0.4
E: Invaild command argument
Finding up date package.....
Opening up date package......
Verifying up date package......
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
Install aborted
Many thanks to you all for all you do, very impressive!!
